War is about preservation, not of one's self, but also of one's ideals and culture, his/her family. If you can't even see that, then you apparently have no basic understanding of sacrifice.

Patience is virtue, but bitching about the wars we fight, that the Senate decided for, after 9/11, was because of that fear of terrorism. The money is little, and given the hardships, not even enough to compensate for everyday risks and life hazardous zones. Its all volunteer, and these kids go out to fight for their loved ones.

I find it incredibly difficult at times to listen to this song without tearing up, it's so sad, yet beautiful at the same time - no surprise it touched a raw nerve when I first heard it!

Sully may have written it about the soldiers going off to fight in the wars, but it reminds me of each time one of my furry, four legged friends has had to be left at the vet's surgery without coming back :'(

All i can say is i have the upmost respect and support them everyday. Thank all servicemen. they sacrifice alot for us.

@GODSMAK4LIFE To witness it first hand is amazing in its self; My Cousin needed some one to take her to the Air Force Base to pick up her fiance who had just come home from a year long deployment in Iraq. When she saw him come off the plane and step onto the tarmac I had never seen her run so fast in my life she jumped up on him nearly knocking him over with a huge embrace. They must of just stood there and held one another for 10 mins with not a word spoken, just tears of joy. :)
