  • The only thing that can go through this batmobile, It's not from this world.

  • This pisses me off!!! That nerd chick thinks Robin's a girl!! Thats why i disliked this video

  • @123multitaskerclone you need to fucking kill yourself right now. this is based on frank miller's comic book "the dark knight returns", considered one of the most seminal works in the graphic medium, wherein, in an alternate timeline, batman comes out of retirement at age 55 to restore a corrupt gotham. and yes, robin is a girl in it. before you go off commenting like an asshole, do your fucking research. kids these days. no respect.

  • @BrianMagnumFilms okay hold on there i don't like the cartoons nowadays either and that why i'm uploading Batman tas episodes on my channel and plus i've never picked up a Batman comic in my life and don't even know where to get one

  • @123multitaskerclone im sure you can find the dark knight returns at any book store or comic book shop in america.

  • @BrianMagnumFilms oh thanks check out my channel i think you'll like the episodes i posted

  • @123multitaskerclone i have all the seasons on DVD but ill check it out

  • Robin is ginger (no offend I like gingers) but I don't know this robin is ok I'd you want a nerdy looking kid to be robin?

  • 0:12 always makes me laugh.

  • Gotham Knight is one of the BEST Batman movies ever! :D

    I LIKE

  • Batman looks bigger than BANE

  • Kevin Conroy is a better Batman, but Ironside is a better old Batman and would've been better for Old Bruce in Batman Beyond.

  • the description of this video needs to be changed. this isnt a spoof, its a great homage

  • its weird as shit hearing sam fisher as batman.

  • @TerraZet

Yet he does a damn good job. I'm hoping he gets the oppertunity to do it in the animated adaptation.

  • i think thats from Batman the New Adventures,

  • If u think about it the mutent leader is the protype for Bane years later.

  • @tness93 You are right.

  • yeah, i know but still, one of the weirdest robins i've ever seen

  • Is that actually a test from DC animated? Looks authentic! Though if i had any say i would have gone rotoscope i.e. fire and ice to match the era. Even if they went the cheap route via computer effects. Adam West and Mark Hamill together for the first time ever (crosses fingers)!

  • @limeygringo It isn't a test animation, it's actually a scene from a 'The New Batman Adventures' episode titled "Legends of the Dark Knight". The episode has a few kids on the street telling 3 Batman stories, each done in a different style. This one was obviously done in the Dark Knight Returns style.

  • gayest Robin I've ever seen. I prefer Grayson

  • @creedjeremy Huh huh, you prefer dudes over chicks, huh huh huh

  • @creedjeremy It's a girl.

  • its sam fisher

  • Robin jumps out of a tank & unleashes a...SLINGSHOT? How is that reasonable?

  • Comment removed

  • I grew up on the Batman:TAS and Dark Knight Returns is one of my favorite comics ever and I've never seen this. This is awesome. Just fucktastic, really.

  • @RickGibbonsOfficial i read the SKR book at my art teacher leason

  • He's so brutal, dark, and fat!

  • I saw this vid before I read the comic. I freaked when I found out that the mutant leader was Dick Grayson.

  • @citizenkaneVII Uh the mutant leader isn't Dick Grayson.

  • @Huboons Then why does Batman say "But there he is, Dick --The Mutant Leader" on page 77 (I think it's 77.) Well, unless he's talking to Dick Greyson as a memory thing, which I'd never considered before.

  • @citizenkaneVII Hes having an conversation with Dick in his head.

  • @Huboons Okay, now I understand.

  • @citizenkaneVII yes. he's just talking to Dick in his head. Earlier in the book he mentions to Gordon that he and Dick haven't spoken in years. He's remembering the "golden days" when they were a team.

  • i didn't like this for many reasons. too dark and depressing (yeah that what the genre's supposed to be but this was too much) this "robin" was just fucking annoying, batman looks so freaking fat for a middle aged man, a certain joker scene which I won't spoil, this just wasn't my cup of tea when it comes to batman.

  • That's not a spoof. A spoof would be a parody.

  • Is that Ron Pearlman?

  • @ShinigamiDiz7 did you not read "yes, thats michael ironside's voice"

  • damn i wish i was alive when batman tas was on tv but thanks to dvd i don't have to worry about that i got the complete animated series on dvd i can finally watch the show

  • @MMD1596 true fan!

    read the novel?

  • @jimbobhk2009 thanks and i will

  • 35 dislikes...The kids of this days,No respect

  • It's not a spoof - it's literally a segment from the comic itself. A spoof is meant to make fun of something - this is more of a tribute than a spoof.

  • They think we gay! lol

  • Robin looks exactly like a female version of Dexter!! xD

  • is that sam fisher talking?

  • Thumbs up if this reminds you of the good ol' animated series...:)

  • wat cartoon batman is this ?????

  • @ZombieGuy1990 The New Batman Adventures episode 19, google it to find more info

  • Not really a parody though...

  • why is batman a huge steroid abusing fat-ass and robin's a redhead glass wearing weirdo?

  • @Kritickos Read the damn comic kid! Geez!!

  • @Kritickos

    ... Read the comic.

  • @Kritickos

    read the graphic novel

  • I knew it!

Sam Fisher is Batman, see? screw you Bruce Wayne!!

  • Lol, did Michael Ironside voice batman?

  • 1:22 the super tumbler lol!

  • WB is going to release DKR as an animated movie in two parts next year.

  • @swarlock I hope they will get Conroy and Hamill to voice this two part movie. (Even if Hamill said he stopped dubbing the Joker since Arkham City)

  • @swarlock FOR REAL?

  • @Curse138 Yes!

  • I show you who run Barter Town!

  • Maaan, I just loved the The Batman animated series. I wanna buy all the 5 seasons.

  • @Enderdufux There's five seasons? I thought there were only four, I'll be glad if you're right since I just picked up BTAS Season 4 on DVD.

  • @Enderdufux i wish Netflix would post them on instant

  • @Blakefe My local comicbook shop gets them from Netflix and plays them on their monitor nonstop.

When Year One and TDKR comes out I hope Warner Bros goes all out with The Animated Series, Blu-Ray, Netflix, Amazon, The works.

  • that voice... isn't that darkseid's

  • Batman sounds like Darkseid here.

  • @Visonu It is. They had the same actor do his voice in this part.

  • 0:34 "They think we are gay?"

  • @TGNTeaorcoffee

    Gang

  • They're actually going to make a TDKR animated adaptation. Guess who should voice him?

If you said either "Michael Ironside" or "Kevin Conroy", well, you're right.

  • This Batman will be a skin in Batman Arkham City!

  • @vadersdemise93

    Preorder: Confirmed!

  • @vadersdemise93 It is.

  • @RandomCommenterful I never said it wasn't?

  • @vadersdemise93 True that...

  • u know this wasnt really a spoof if u listen to the audio commentary on the dvd.

  • mark my words the dark knight rises will rip off the mutant gang subplot

  • @gc3k That's not ripping off at all. Do you actually know the definition of that?

  • @gc3k No it wont, Nolans batman movies more realistic Rtard.

  • Comment removed

  • @Blballerboy I'd say Miller's TDKR is more operatic than Nolan's Batman films could ever be, 'realism' not withstanding. The Mutant gang would stick out like a sore thumb though in any Nolan movie IMHO, I just want to see them in the upcoming animated TDKR film more than anything else.

  • @cha5 that may be true, but there isnt going to be any mutants in the dark knight rises, just sayin.

  • Comment removed

  • @Blballerboy Yeah, I imagine they'll be saved for when Nolan does an X-Men movie ;-)

    Sorry lame joke

  • I never thought that a man's lips could make him look gay, but then I saw Robin

  • @guitarzombieghgh this robin is a girl

  • @FoxTheSwift damn... That's not a good look

  • @guitarzombieghgh she loos retarded

  • Comment removed

  • @thebarrens This isn't Conroy? This is Ironside!!!

  • @TheJLCTV no shit, haha. i keep getting emails about this. other commenters were singing his praises. my comment was a reaction to that, Ironside is AWESOME as batman, I love it

  • @thebarrens This is Ironside...

  • @Nanaman12345 no shit, haha. i keep getting emails about this. other commenters were singing his praises. my comment was a reaction to that, Ironside is AWESOME as batman, I love it

  • @thebarrens lol I'm sure someone already informed you that this isn't Kevin Conroy. But I take Ironside's voice more seriously than Bale's grumbling. But to each his own.

  • @mrbill191715 No one had to. I already fucking knew that, hence my comment,.

  • @thebarrens LOL sorry man, I skimmed through the pages and saw what you meant. woops. idk I love Conroy though, but Ironsides kicks ass

  • where did this come from? I read the book but as in where was this shown?

  • @MrJoshy77 This was from The New Batman Adventures episode 'Legends of The Dark Knight' The actual sequence is actually an amalgam of several scenes from The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel.

  • @MrLunitunz pretty awesome, I must buy that season.haha I own the graphic novel and it is awesome.

  • @MrJoshy77 Indeed it is. I'm not sure whether Year One or DKR was better but most of Frank Miller's 80s stuff was pretty cool. Then it got to the mid-nineties/present day and he just lost it.

  • @MrLunitunz true true he lost it during the halfass all star batman and robin. that book is fucking shit.

  • @TheSpawn117 The writing quicky degenerated after showing such intial promise in the first issue. But the artwork is lovely, it's a shame that the press of other commitments keeps Jim Lee away from the drawing board, and with his promotion at DC, it doesn't look like things will be changing much, even though he signed onto the new Justice League with Geoff Johns which will be totally awesome.

But back to Miller, ASB&R had some good ideas, but they're buried in over-the-top narrative.

  • @TheSpawn117 I'm the goddamn Batman! :D

  • @mattiathekaiju No no, this is how Miller did it, "What are you, retarded or something? I'M THE GODDAMN BATMAN!!!" XD

'All Star Batman' and 'The Dark Knight Strikes Again' and Miller's proposed Batman vs Osama Bin Laden series are what always stick in my mind. Sadly (IMO) Miller never really came close to the heights of The Dark Knight Year One and The Dark Knight Returns again doing another Batman comic, but it's also a good argument why comic sequels don't always work ala TDKR & Watchmen

  • wtf is up with the girl hipster robin?

  • Horribly drawn, and horribly potted, really batman was in a robot and he just gets out, in front of a bunch of villains. And the villains don't even interfere. Robin chick crappy slingshot? Whoever likes this likes horrible plot and animation.

  • @Dudex58

^ missing the point or trolling

  • @silversquall Trolling is to bother someone I am bugging no one and just stating an opinion. Apparently you got your definitions mixed up. I am an avid comic book reader, slash artist, so I know when someone is giving me low bugdet and looped animation. I also don't like crappy stories that a kindergardner can write better. These people get paid to entertain us. We shouldn't just be force fed whatever and say yea thats good. That just be mindless and dumb.

  • @Dudex58

Trolling is bothering someone by fucking with people, sometimes by making an extreme position based on feigned ignorance.

I originally was just gonna write missing the point, because it seemed like you were not familiar of the source episode or the allusion...which I presumed to be observed, so my saying "or trolling" was actually giving you the benefit of the doubt that you know what you're talking about.

  • @Dudex58

*with the source episode or the homage

    *obvious

But it seems that that was a false dichotomy. You seem like you do know what you're talking about and that you hold an informed opinion. It just seemed like your original opinion was completely made without even recognizing why people find this clip (and the full episode) amusing. It's certainly neither plot nor animation (well the gotham knights series was never really admired for that in particular).

  • @Dudex58

So I apologize for the assumption. Certainly some people may be of the opinion that they dislike this. Me and many others like it though, because we like the nod to The Dark Knight Returns, we like the goofy range of the representations of Batman that they chose to use i this episode, and we love the fact that they were able to get "I am the surgeon" and the sound of a leg breaking past the censors. At least, that's just me.

  • im confused

  • my name it bob :3 hehe so funny X3

  • Love this clip!

  • @Bowsersix789 he's in his mid 50s now

  • A wolf howls. I know how he feels.

  • what was this from???

  • @KamenRiderPredator13

Its adapted from Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel.

  • @rencrow Any idea where i can get the movie?

  • @KamenRiderPredator13

It not a movie. Its a short clip from an episode called "Legends of the Dark Knight" in The New Batman Adventures animated series.

  • this was a part of a clip of a video wasnt it?

  • 4:22 Madness? This is GOTHAM!

  • Baddest line I've ever heard from the Bat: "Rubber bullets. Honest."

  • Thumbs up if you got here from a Wheatys Diary episode.

  • Funny how this one gets all the scenes right scene for scene, but infantalizeds the whole mood; voices and music suck. And the jokes that were so funny in the book are dead herel

  • There was a version of this scene on Youtube a while back in which Carrie Kelly (the girl Robin) is hanging out with her girlfriends and she starts to tell them about How the Dark Knight beat the mutants. It was slightly different than this. Anyone see it?

  • im so happy this is gonna be turned into an animate movie aswell as batman:year one. two of my favourite comics getting made into flms :D i love what bruce timm has done so far with the other animated comic book adaptations, especially superman:doomsday, batman:under the red hood and all star superman (another one of my favourite comics)

  • i vaguely remember this episode from my childhood. Isn't this from The new adventures of superman and batman or something?

  • Great video!

  • Damn, this ep did a fine job of capturing the Frank Miller style. DC should consider The Dark Knight Returns as it's next animated film.

  • @jimjamjoeyjoejoe An animated Batman The Dark Knight Year One film and an animated

Batman The Dark Knight Returns film are both in the works according to Bleedingcooldotcom.

"Fittingly, Year One will come along first, but DKR is already in the first stages of development. According to our sources, several veterans of Batman toons past will be on the crew list, though we're still trying to confirm who is writing and directing the film."

  • @cha5 Fuck, seriously? That's awesome. Could be even better than Under The Red Hood.

  • @jimjamjoeyjoejoe They're already working on it :)

  • "Legends of the Dark Knight"-- one of my fave New Batman Adventures episodes!

  • OK son, show me!

  • who is Rob and Don?

  • @dandark1012 That is actually an homage to the comic this adapts The Dark Knight Returns; two of the Mutant gang members featured wear those shirts with those exact same words on them. I myself wondered why the hell those two were wearing those shirts in the first place when I saw this...then years later I read The Dark Knight Returns, and then I knew EXACTLY why.

  • michael ironside is okay, but you gotta love kevin conroy. but another really good voice was batman in the fist half of justice league new frontier

  • Eh, Miller's Dark Knight is its own spoof.

  • the isn't really a spoof so much as a homage!

  • Robin, useless in every incarnation.

  • @superdoomzz Actually, this clip sadly puts the DKR in a pretty bad light, and i really dont like the voice they selected for her, always envisioned her voice as a bit lower, but that is down to personal preference. At least Carrie doesn't suffer as much from "boy wonder" syndrome as the other robins, which makes her the best robin in my book. Pity she only appeared in one book, and DKSA is subpar.

Still, interesting to see it in motion, even if the quality of the drawings are a bit quicky

  • I showed this to one of my best mates who thought Batman was just for kids. He was actually pretty shocked, but found it awesome - he ended up watching the whole of TAS, and loved every minute of it.

  • Mutants man....some bad dudes right there.

I heard Zack Snyder might be doing the movie to DKR. personally I think that would be awesome

  • @mrbill191715

Zack Snyder is going to reboot Superman. That's what I've heard.

  • @KyodaiKen1979 Yeah. I heard eventually though that he wanted to do this.

  • @mrbill191715 Really? I always thought that they made it first, and believed that he would be like Alan Moore and turn his nose up at any adaptation of his work...only thing is, when Frank Miller DID eventually see it, he was *so* thrilled that he called them *personally* to tell them (the writers and animators) *how much* he loved it...he even suggested other things from Dark Knight Returns (which this is an homage to) that they could adapt.

  • i ddont understand why fans love DKR so much

  • @cyberyanmar Fans love DKR so much cuz at it's heart its about an old man who reclaims his glory and is the only one willing to stand against anarchy and corruption in his city. Plus it's fucking awesome!!!!!

  • @cyberyanmar Not that I am too much of a fan of it myself - but it is because that comic was edgy, and changed the way everyone looked at Batman. Finally, people where able to take Batman serious. So I would say the fans have good reasons. If it wasn't for DKR, there would probably not be any serious Batman movies made for a long while.

  • This is from an episode of Batman: The Animated Series and was featured on the 2-Disc release of Batman: Gotham Knight. This is an awesome video because of it's the only one if it's kind.

  • How is this a spoof?

  • i was waiting for him to strike him in the eyes and attack a nerve cluster on his arm.

  • This ain't a spoof. It's a brilliantly adapted extract.

Bruce Timm, please adapt the story in its entirety.

  • Is Robin Daria?..

  • I remember seeing this a long time ago. can't remember where though... man that was awesome

  • @megas957 it was in the cartoon ledgends of the dark knight in the batman the animated series

  • This was not a spoof, it was a tribute. Listen to Ironside..what a voice

  • This was not a spoof, it was a tribute.

  • I remember seeing this as a kid like 10+ years ago...i dont remember where

  • god what the hell is up with that guy's nipples they are horrifying.

  • Lool Batman is greater than Hulk xDD

  • did any body see batman get kicked in the nuts?

  • Strange you'd call this a Dark Knight Returns 'spoof', IMHO most fans and Bruce Timm and Paul Dini themselves would likely call this a Dark Knight Returns tribute.

  • BAT HULK SMASH!!!!!

  • i remember watching this when i was 10 yrs old damn! now im 19

  • not so much as a spoof as jst a kid-friendly version of that part of the story, but awesome nontheless

  • What, are you dense?? Are you retarded?? I'M THE GOD-DAMN BATMAN!!! >:(

  • so how is this a spoof? It's nearly a direct copy from the miller graphic novel.

  • when the f*** did velma become robin?

  • @ThePowerfulOnes more like DEXTER

  • the one man who could EVER replace kevin conroy as batman..Michael fucking ironside
