  • And, this is...?

  • Someone tell me how the song is called Harry and Hermione dancing?

  • @dulittrell O Children - Nick Cave

  • I could listen to all the harry potter music forever and always <3

  • @rockangel166 I do! :)

  • Comment removed

  • "Bloody Hell, Whats the minister of Magic doing here?"

  • @HPRMSO whats wrong with them saying there opionions. No one is arguing so they just stating it. John WIlliams was always the first and best and because of that they are giving him his props.

  • " Whats the ministry of magic doing here?"

  • all the composers have made each film great due to the music that they have brought into it. williams with the first 3 creating a view of the innocence that harry had and the lack of voldermort. Doyle in introducing a maturing harry and voldermort coming back. Hooper in the next 2 with the fantastic themes that captivated both the fun elements and more serious and finally desplat. he made the 7th film so great and has me spellbound. each are great so dont dis them. each helped make Harry Potter!

  • @MoroHoppie I agree. I wish that the people can stop thinking that Williams is the only good HP composer. Besides Desplat is a HP fan, unlike Williams. That should count.

  • @CyerChick2011

well yeah.. if they started playing the banjo I dont think anyone would like it...

  • One of the only things I don't like about this soundtrack is that the songs sound way too similar.

  • All the composers for HP are brilliant. But my favorite was Patrick Doyle. :P

  • its so true......its never gonna end 4 us!!!!!!!!!

we all are gonna witness the last EPIC movie 2 gether!

twilight actors say that they have the best & the most fans in the world but THEY'RE SOOOOOO WRONG!!!!

  • @potterati101 They have the most stupid fans actually.

  • When the credits role on the screen for part 2, I will cry.

  • @tigerliloty I know!! I cried when the credits for Part 1 rolled....

But I know that it's impossible for Harry Potter to end - it's timeless.

  • It was all good for me when John williams moved away from harry potter due to the repetition of themes in the first 3 movies, although, for me he wrote the most beautiful themes in harry potter (Fawkes the phoenix, window of the past, double trouble and of course Hedwig theme). When the other composers came is when the series turned darker, and i think that is what Alexander desplat captures the best. i cant think of a better composer for deathly hallows then him

  • @SurealGamesMovies yeah but that's john williams strenght i think ,he always find few principal themes ,but they're such powerful ,and may seems repetitive ,but he can always create new things from these themes ,and transform them.yes the serie turnd darker ,but i think that we didn't have memorable themes ,after the fifth one .the new are good to fit with the film but nothing more.it is just regular tragic themes.i think that only one musician should be related to any creation.

  • I love how Hedwig's Theme is in here. or just a second, but it's there :')

    2:16

  • @HarryPotterismyhome That is one of the reasons why I love Desplat's work. He knew how to incorporate Williams' early theme into the later movies quite well. I have an extreme dislike for the fourth soundtrack because it was as if Doyle completely abandoned everything Williams did. Going with Hooper for the fifth/sixth was a wise choice because he also brought a little of the theme back. I think they both showed that the theme is versatile enough to suit the darker tone of the later films.

  • I've loved all the composers for Potter. John Williams set the groundwork with HP 1-3 and then Doyle did a wonderful job with GOF, and Nicholas Hooper seriously amazed me with OOTP and HBP, and now Desplat has ended the series phenomenally.

  • U r so rite!!!! I am going to LOVEE part two!!! (second comment) thank you (:

  • @magicgirliy yea well Voldemort can go dig a hole, screw himself, choke on a bone, cry, and drown in his own tears!!!!! I want Lord Voldemort to die!!!!!

  • @3greenmonkey Then you'll be satisfied in HP 7 Part 2 ;)

  • @3greenmonkey i agree with you on that :P

  • And for you Ron Weasly I give you the light of Earendil; our most beloved star...May it be a light for you in dark places when all other lights go out...

  • @MovieMentality haha :D

  • @MovieMentality AND RON BATTLES SPIDERS TOO. And he destroys a piece of evil jewellery! My mind is blown.

  • @MovieMentality Lord of the rings- Harry Potter, were the best movie series EVER in my opinion

  • @MovieMentality lotr and hp :')

  • @MovieMentality hahaha omg i know..........it's seriously just like Lord of the Rings, i found so many references ! did you?

  • @MovieMentality If Ron is Frodo, then does Harry get the box of dirt?

  • @MovieMentality LMFAO!!! Lotr and harry potter hybrid, good shit

  • This makes me want to watch it! OMG :'s

  • Babba Rabba :D (non lo conosce nessuno <.<)

  • this is amazing!! I dont understand why everyone fights over who is the best composer of harry potter music, every composer is original and AAH it makes me die of happiness when i listen to it AAH!!!

  • Voldemord disliked this video.

  • @magicgirliy Oh, did he really now? Idiot.

  • The slight hint of Hedwig's Theme was a nice touch

  • In AVPM, Dumbledore's will says, "Hogwarts goes to Harry, my chocolate factory goes to Charlie, and Toonstown goes to the toons."

    I love this music too.

  • 0:05 listen to the glockespiel, sounds like the Luna Lovegood eight notes motif, from OOTP score (especially the used Loved Ones and Leaving)

  • @yonythemoony indeed!

  • this whole soundtrack is depressing :***( sniffels

  • why is everybody making such a big deal about who's better with composing music for harry potter??? can't we all agree that desplat and williams are the best and for diferen't reasons john williams will always be the first compeser and that is why he is loved so much he had that whimsical feel and it fit harry's life, desplat is great too, he adds a garker tone to the movies that makes them great! just remember, they are both great. Now that is said and done, i think i will go have some tea.

  • @HPRMSO Well said! I'm tired of the comparations. Williams, Doyle, Hooper and Desplat are amazing composers.

  • @HPRMSO haha, intresting. I don't think so, i think dephalt made more kind of backround noise that kept us on our seats, and made the movie what it is. But williams added life to it, and gave the underlying themes.

  • @HPRMSO Yeah, but I still think John Williams is better

  • @HPRMSO I'm gonna join you on that tea

  • @HPRMSO are you british? :D

  • @HPRMSO I agree, dear sir. And I was wondering, does your name stand for "Harry Potter Rocks My Socks Off"? I was just sitting here thinking and that acronym came to mind.

  • @starholder5 ummm....yeah, its kinda cheesy, i know, but it was the first thing that came to my mind.

  • @HPRMSO Haha nahh its kinda cool! I thought it was funny:)

  • @starholder5 thanks :)

  • john williams did a really really great job by making 'the' harry potter soundtrack ( hedwig's theme) and the rest of the musicians did a great job too, but really; in my eyes there is always the same harry potter tune in each film..can't really say what it sounds like, but it is just so harry potter! no matter who made the music! maybe it's just in my head, even then i still would be satisfied...am i the only potterfan who has this feeling?

  • Nevermind, I found out Hooper did the sountrack for the sixth movie. It was good but I never really noticed it. I definitely noticed the music from the seventh movie, and of course everyone know's william's opener for the first and second movie. It's just the franchise theme.

  • Who the heck is this hooper guy everyone is talking about? Desplat wrote this one...?

  • Comment removed

  • Desplat's score is darker and more serious, William's is more cheerful and magical. Both are great.

  • For petes sake, compare John Williams and Hooper. Williams wins here. His scores for dark films such as Schindler's list, Saving Private Ryan, Munich, etc. are just magnificent. Hooper is also good, but just comparing him to Williams is a no win matter.

  • I hope that when it comes to Snape's turn, he is given a ceremonious goodbye. Since the begginign, I always identified with him. ,,,,Yes, I belong to Slytherin

  • Ive seen a lot of people talk about how great John Williams is, and they are true, however I have always prefered Nicholas Hooper :P

  • @SuperNommel I soooo agree with you! John Williams is great, but some of his songs are just...humph...(The Knight Bus o0;) But I love every song of the HP6 soundtrack. And honestly, none of William's song ever gave me shivers running down my spine the way some of Hooper's songs do. But I guess it's a matter of personal opinion ;P

  • @Lilynettemiel Yeh, I mean John Williams was great, but the soundtrack for 5 and 6 was just breathtaking, and I absolutly adored it, they should have brought him back, it would have been great to hear his work again!! ^_^

  • Along with John Williams this is Harry Potter music at its greatest. He's matured John Williams' original. JW was great for the younger harry but Desplat really is needed for the older Harry

  • @FastBBBB errrrrrr have you heard John Williams POA score.....that music was way more mature then his scores for the first 2 films...

  • @legoindyshortround yes. Not saying it isn't. Still needed the change.

  • @FastBBBB I agree ^^Desplat is more mature sounding and it fits better for harry's life now, because he's aged and matured and the plot has thickened. the story can't continue as cheery as it was in harry's childhood.

  • this is lovely.

  • @TeamEdwardJacob44 I loved that part when the trio is watching the Lovegood house and they said Luna

  • amazing... we want the oscar for this!

  • Who would consider that Alexandre Desplat would be an excellent alternative for Howard Shore if he couldn't return to do "The Hobbit" Pts. 1&2?

If he could recapture the spirit of John Williams he can do the same for Howard Shore.

  • The Last Will and Testament of Albus Wolferic Percival Brian Dumbledore.

did i do it right? all from memory...

  • I hope so much that Desplat gets an Oscar for this !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A clear nod to Hooper's 'Dumbledore's farewell' from HBP at 1:10 and 1:37 and again at 2:04. Same choral theme. And at 2:45 to 2:49 the initial violin notes of Hooper's 'Carry my soul' lyrics that are reiterated in 'Dumbledore's farewell.' Same notes. Very effective.

  • ...as a reminder of the rewards of perseverance and skill.

  • This music has too much of Williams' spirit to simply pit it against his own work. Desplat is working on a variation, it's not as simple as Desplat vs Williams.

  • music is something you cant argue into good or bad! you can like it or dont like it! no other choice=)

to discuss what composer is better,is kinda useless xD

  • Yes that is true John Williams music fills every moment in but that means some points are boring and forgotable! but I LOVE JW! Your another argument was these song are light and not dark: thats not true! But I will ask you: when woul you like more darkness? the only "bright" song were the fireworks! if you listen the PUmbridge theme you can hear that shows perfectly the face what U like to show: that pink stupid "sweet" face which everyone knows that fake!

  • To Harry James Potter, I leave the Snitch he caught in his first Quidditch match...

  • I really like this song, but the so many light stops kinda ruins it to me.

For others it might make it more.. mysterious, or mood setting though.

  • I love how Desplat used French Horn to begin this song. john Williams loves o use the French Horn and, oh.... nostalgia moment. John Williams will always be my favourite Harry Potter composer, but the little details that Desplat has used to pay homage to JW makes me smile. Can't wait for the final film!

  • Wow, goosebumbs. Brilliant..

  • Nicholas Hooper is 1st, Desplat is 2nd, I put John Williams 3rd because he did create the foundation for the harry potter score, but I like sad, dark music

  • @Katara4576 um......HELL NO. Are you kidding me? Order of the phoenix-music was so annoying. Half blood prince-good but not great. Desplat owned with this soundtrack. I would have to say Williams and Desplat for first place while Hooper takes second.

  • @davedirector7 its not Katara4576 fault...........hes probably a little mentally challenged

  • @davedirector7 The soundtrack of the 5th HP was anoying?:O I shocked! Nicolas Hooper's score was even better than John Williams one! Every tiny score he composed fit in the movie meanwhile some of John Williams was just there! Do not misunderstand it I love JW for example: Window to the past, quiddits, of course Hedwigs theme but family portrait nd some others are a little bit boring! While i cant tell any Hoppers score which was borign! the themes from the fith one were perfect!

  • @soundtracker94 lol they are not "perfect" they were totally forgettable. Not to mention, I heard only his pieces in barely half of the entirety of the movie. John Williams scores were much better and not to mention they were nominated for best score in the oscars. That speaks a lot there. Also, in some pieces of the Order of the phoenix, they seem to light, not dark enough, Harry's world is becoming more dark and yet it could not express that overall mood.

  • @davedirector7 I found this information today:The Billboard 200 is a ranking of the200 mostselling albums! The soundtrack by John Williams for the first film was at the number 48. Alexandre Desplats soundtrack was at the place 74, but Nicolas Hoopers score: "the album debuted at number twenty-nine on the Billboard 200 chart, thus making it the highest charting soundtrack among all the six movie soundtracks released" I know he doesnt have oscar or Goldeng but he is preatty good like you can see!

  • @soundtracker94 pretty good at sales only :P lol

  • @davedirector7 so you say every persontaste is bad whobought that CD btw first I dindt like Desp, bec I found his scores boring! BUT now I know he is very talented who(I think)do sums to make his score fit exactly to the film! F.ex:Sky battle fitted exactly to every frame of the film! I know that in the world of film music the composer and his music have to fit to the film and Desplat does that in a genius level but sometimes the composer have to have more freedome BUT Nicolas H still GENIOUS!

  • @Katara4576 I agree. If nothing else, Hooper's score was distinctive -- he did great work with strings. Desplat's music could've been from any movie. Williams made the great theme, but the rest of his score sounded like everything else he's ever written.

  • @Katara4576 Did you forgot Patrick Doyle. He scored Goblet of Fire

  • John William's soundtrack is the best one! It describe perfectly Harry Potter's world... Obviously it needs new tracks because of the change of the story!!!!

  • "Ronald Bilius Weasley".

  • I'm really liking the music to this movie.

I'm still quite partial to John Williams though and hope that he's back to compose for the 'final' installation of the series.

    His music is almost unbeatable.

  • Only 10 seconds of Hedwig's theme :'(

  • I love how the man who plays Rufus Scrimgeour, the Minister of Magic, says Mr. Potter...

And "To Ronald... BILIUS Weasley." XD

  • "Babbity Rabbity!" "C, mon!" "No one?"

  • @Baldenlong77 Hehe.... I loved this movie!

  • 2:16 - 2:26 hedwig's theme

  • 1:00-1:38 Wait... Why do I hear the Professor Layton soundtrack in the Harry Potter soundtrack? o_O It sounds a bit like the ''Lost Forest'' track from Professor Layton and the Diabolical/Pandora's Box...

  • @OnceUponAUsername OMG! U r totally right I hear it 2! that just made my night cause now I'm assuming I guess Professor Layton will be the new teacher at Hogwarts! haha great observation though XD

  • @gamer46ful Thank you! I heard it when I first saw the movie in the cinema... I remember thinking: ''IS THAT LAYTON?'' :O Maybe Alexander Desplat likes clever video games. XD Or it's a coincidence... We will never know!

And Professor Layton at Hogwarts would be totally awesome! I would draw it, but then again, I'm terrible at drawing. XD

Professor Layton and Harry Potter... Two of my favorite things... :'D

Imagine Layton examining the Chamber of Secrets-case. O_o

Or him as the headmaster! :D

  • @OnceUponAUsername that would be intersting Professor Layton and the Chamber of Secrets! O.O lol that is awesome though. Also him as headmaster would be intresting and wierd. Maybe Alexander Desplat does like his video games!? That would be funny though

Alex: Alright take 5! HEHE I will find out whats in that box dammit!!

  • ive been counting down the days till this comes out since like may! haha now its only 6 days!!!! omg im so fucking excited i cant hold myself together!

  • At the beginning I could just picture Percy coming back and everyone going crazy.

  • @thePianoKid82 SPOILERS:

Actually that's when Harry, Ron and Hermione arrives to Lovegood's house.

    Harry: Luna....

    Ron: Luna...

    Hermione: Luna...

    I loved that part.

  • @yonythemoony .. oh. lol now i feel stupid. I was thinking about the part from the sixth book, but it still made me think of Percy coming back during Christmas.

  • @thePianoKid82 Yeah. I thought that too.

  • Wow. When I first listened to this soundtrack, I hated it because it almost had nothing to do with Harry Potter or Hedwig's theme, but now that I listen to it more thoroughly, it's actually probably one of the best ones so far. I just hope the movie is too!

  • this is music is going to fit the movie so well. It is the best harry potter soundtrack ever, and I am not saying this lightly.

  • @Themoviemaster51 um ur joking right? John Williams is the best soundtrack ever it defines harry potter

  • @davedirector7 ya I know what you mean I am not sure if he would be the best choice, you also have to be open minded to new artists.

  • @davedirector7 John Williams is a person, not a soundtrack. Even so, while he may be the master creator of Hedwig's Theme, his style is very outdated. He improved greatly with Prisoner of Azkabab, widening his orchestra, but, even so, Doyle, Hooper, and Desplat take the lead in instrumentation.

  • @ToManyLetters lol sorry about i meant to say "made" his style is not outdated at all. Doyle, Hooper have not garnered any oscar nominations or grammy awards. Desplat has been nominated twice. John Williams-45 oscar nominations and 5 wins. They can't top that.

It has been confirmed however that Desplat will return for the second part and John Williams will collaborate with him. It was confirmed at the British Film premiere

  • @davedirector7 Doyle and Hooper have their own set of awards and nominations, but awards do not always adequately demonstrate the quality of a score. John Williams has won a lot, there is no doubt. I think only Hans Zimmer comes anywhere near him, nevertheless, his instrumentation is very old sounding. When Doyle took over, it changed Harry Potter for good and for the better. Both Doyle and Hooper created themes worthy of recognition, too. "Hogwarts Hymn" and "The Friends" come to mind.

  • @ToManyLetters but Hedwig's theme and "harry's wondrous world" stands out from all

  • @davedirector7 Only for nostalgia, frankly. The themes can be used very easily without Williams. Though Desplat was very conservative with their use, a different composer could implement -many- of the popular, beautiful themes from the previous scores. "Opening" and "The Story Continues" are fair examples of this.

  • @ToManyLetters good point there

  • @davedirector7 Even so, I would have picked James Newton Howard to score parts one and two above anyone else, even if he collaborated with Williams. JNH is the best of the best.

  • @ToManyLetters James Newton Howard?????? Wat the-are u serious?

  • @davedirector7 Absolutely. Examples of his awesome are seen in "The Gravel Road" of the Village, "The Healing" of Lady in the Water, "Kida Returns" from Atlantis: The Lost Empire, "Central Park" from King Kong, and "Flow Like Water" from The Last Airbender. His work with Hans Zimmer on the Batman scores is also amazing.

His ability to show emotion and carry amazing melodies is unprecedented. This is -exactly- what the Part 1 score needs.

  • @ToManyLetters I'm kind of mad u forgot "defiance" and "blood diamond" im not going to lie, he is great, but when someone starts something, they should end it and Williams should finish off Harry Potter.

  • @davedirector7 There were, frankly, too many examples to fit in the very small space that Youtube affords me. My point is made, however.

I feel that Harry Potter has grown-up, however. I don't mind Williams working with another composer, but there needs to be a different voice for the finale. JNH either alone or with Williams (Or Mr. Zimmer, for that matter) would have done BRILLIANTLY with the Final Battle. I CANNOT wait for that piece of score.

  • @ToManyLetters agreed about the final battle

  • @davedirector7 Imagine the score piece for the Final Battle of Hogwarts with something as EPIC as "Flow Like Water". I think people not even familiar with Harry Potter would downright crap themselves and start a new religion over the ordeal.

  • @ToManyLetters ehhh not really lol

  • @davedirector7 Not -literally- of course but figuratively, twice and three times.

  • @davedirector7 NOTHING IS BETTER THEN JOHN WILLIAMS!!! HE PUTS MUSIC IN THE RIGHT PLACE!!!!

  • @davedirector7 just because he made the theme (Hedwigs Theme) right?

  • @MegaTVE He composed many more themes for three films (Hogwarts, Lockhart, Basilisk, Patronus, Hagrid, Dementor, Buckbeak themes are only few of different themes he produced). The fact that Hedwig's Theme is the most popular one doesn't make those any lesser. Just like DH soundtrack. But DH soundtrack doesn't even have a memorable theme.

  • Comment removed

  • @ozoztrk Well DH has Lovegoods theme

  • @fosforhape Yeah. And also the Obliviate 4 notes motif, new themes for Voldemort, Dumbledore, The Deathly Hallows, The Locket and Dobby.

  • @MegaTVE nope the entire soundtrack. But if you think I am referring to "Hedwig's theme" only-it still triumphs.

  • @davedirector7 bad news to you but all of John Williams's soundtracks are Hedwigs Theme in different tempo ;)

  • @MegaTVE still-that is serious pwnage if what u say is true. Also Williams is the only composer of the harry potter films to be nominated for a HP score.

  • @davedirector7

    Very Right!

  • @davedirector7 absolutly!!i have to ask him why he stopped making the music for harry potter if i ever meet him!!i'm curious about his reason!

  • @TeNAruTOmi lol he was busy with other films. He made two scores the same year Goblet of fire came out. He made scores for "munich" and "memoirs of a geisha" which he received oscar nominations for both

  • @TeNAruTOmi he also had to work on various projects over the years

  • @davedirector7 John Williams is very talented, and indeed his soundtrack nearly defined what we think of as Harry Potter. This soundtrack is very good as well, and I believe more appropriate to the later films because their subject matter is far more dramatic /darker than the earlier films (with John Williams mostly happy/magical musical motifs). Actually, I think that these films do not require the magical, mysterious sounds of Williams because the concept of magic has already been presented.

  • @TehPwndKillBill nearly defined? Mostly happy? It appears you have not heard his works for schindler's list, saving private ryan, Munich, Memoirs of a geisha. He is clearly just as qualified in dark works as he is in "happy/magical musical motifs".

  • @TehPwndKillBill uh mostly happy/magical musical motifs? You clearly have not heard his other works for Schindler's list, saving private ryan, Munich, Memoirs of a geisha, Jaws. He is clearly masterful at dark works and he does this just as much as his other works. Im not saying Williams is the only to one needed to score the Potter films, but his score definitely gave magic uprise to Harry Potter and remains that way to this day.

  • Comment removed

  • Hedwig's Theme starts at 2:18.

  • i don't hear Hedwigs theme

  • Hedwigs theme :D
