In general, a car can outrun a tornado. They're much safer than being inside and having the building collapse on you. Keep that in mind, as insisting that a car won't save you and heading inside is the best bet could end up killing you and everyone you're with next time. Or it might not.... you're call... but I'd prefer to be mobile. There was a study done about this a few years back if you feel like looking for it.
You guys are crazy...under a heavy lightining and close by a tornado...lol i would freak out so much!!! i cant understand some people looked calm...i would run and scream lol
The conditions that cause super cells and associated tornadoes are predicted hours in advance before the storms start firing. On top of that, super cells tower at least 55,000 feet, some even higher, and are visible from miles away. The national weather service issues warnings when rotation is indicated by doppler radar.... and idiots like these get stuck outside with frequent lightning, large hail, and tornadoes. "Duh... hey George what is with the dark clouds over there? Pass the hot dogs."
There were warnings issued for other parts of Ontario, not where we were, Tornadoes are not at all common there either, there were no warnings whatsoever.
If there were, we would not have even shown up, moron!
@patiolanterns2 News flash genius.... if there is a thick mass of dark clouds with a low base and and persistent visible rotation, don't go waltzing out into an open parking lot. You were obviously aware of what was happening as you stated from :15-:18; "That's spinning pretty good there. That could turn into a funnel cloud pretty easily." And what were you doing? Marching into danger with the rest of the lemmings. It's great footage and it was almost from a birds eye view.
@fishguru73 well if you look at the low clouds rotating, im pretty sure you could notice a tornado was about to go down. This is common sense, not science, even though i study tornado's monthly.
@fishguru73 supercells don't tower at least 55,000feet(55,000 feet is very high and is not common). Supercells are common actually. And they can have tops as low as 15,000 feet and form in SB cape with low mid and low lapse rates, with low 30kt bulk shear and 20-40 surface 0-6km and a measly 1,000mucape.
Hey Mike, as I say in the video, I was using an old Kodak camera, and once I start filming, it won't zoom, and as for a better position, it was moving away from us, other than chasing it on foot, what did you expect, who's stupid now? Looks like you!
If you see a tornado on the edge of a storm like this one was, as long as the the thunderstorm is going away from you or to your side, you don't have to worry about a sudden switch in direction of the tornado itself. Usually the direction shift is subtle. Every path I have seen of a tornado from the air or mapped has somewhat of a snaking pattern. No 180's or even 90 degree turns. The tornado has to go along with the thunderstorm. The ones I have seen in person were the same as well.
lol i live in newmarket so thatss about a 1 hour drive from here to vaunghan. My sister got so freaked out by the warnings on tv that she hid in our basement all night even though the tornado didn't even come close to us!
dude how the hell do you say lol at everyone panicking...I live here do you have any idea how many homes are severely damaged? some even destroyed...someone is dead...and tons of people mostly families and old people who worked hard for what they have now must deal with paying tens of thousands maybe even more dollars in damage...if you were there you'd be peeing your pants worse than the rest of them. It's a tornado man, not a joke.
This video was taken at the Vaughan Grove Baseball fields, looking north towards Hwy 7. The tornado formed on the west side of Martin Grove Road, and passed over Hwy 7 into the residental area, destroying almost 200 houses.
I apologize for the report of no injuries, at the time i posted this video, there were no injuries reported for this tornado, however, in Durham, sadly, a teenage boy lost his life. My prayers go out to his family and friends.
Oh shit, wonderland? I was inside my house when all the rain started. The lighting was so close to my house here in Brampton. Lighting came down like every 2-3 minutes. It was scary.
That's some good footage there. I heard that area Martin Grove & Hwy 7 got hit pretty hard. Some homes were destroyed in my area, one house had its roof completely gone.
Cars are not safe as tournado can pick them up and throw them in the sky. Hide in the basement and hold on to something cimented... Lol
