  • -- once every orbit, between their parent stars and us.

Kepler's ultimate goal is to find a twin, in both size and in distance from its star, of Earth — an orbital sweet spot known as a star's habitable zone. That's because astronomers assume these are likeliest places for alien life to have taken hold. The telescope hasn't quite done that yet, but the Kepler team has just announced a huge flock of candidate planets, pushing its total catch so far to more than 1,200.

  • God is SOOOO AMAZING!!!

  • @Militia7 yeah yeah, preach somewhere else

  • @Militia7 Amen.

  • wow!

  • @gerrardanfield : trust me there is who else would've made u and i and all these other magnificent thing in the universe

  • Sure it is far faaaaaaaar..but i bet the distance estimated by astronomers is wrong

  • The vastness of the universe makes me question the existence of god. Seriously. Eversince I started reading about how big our universe is, I doubt there's a god.

  • if their are that many galaxies there are bound to be other life forms just like us o.O

  • Big bang is a misconception, Its less wave interaction with distance!, less energy exchange is what's interpreted as a redshift. Collective unconscious positron in-wave fronts "multplying time" enfolding at right-angle's forming+/-breaking at every point of space thus virtual pair's (Space) The sum of opposite vectors is always zero, this is the reason for the symmetry or conservation laws in physics or why at the speed of C, time and space are zero due to length contraction and time dilation.

  • She might sound good after blowjob......

  • is there iron burning in these stars cos there shouldnt be if the galaxy was that young???

  • FUCK...THAT...you cant tell me we the only ones in the universe i know there are life forms in those other galaxies...gotta be

  • Most Distant Universe.

Too Far to Travel Unless Space can be folded.

  • HOW FAR? it didn't say!

  • @formaset They said the light we received from it left the galaxy when it was only 600 millin years old, therefore confirming it is the "oldest" and "most distant". If we know the universe is 13.5b years old, I suppose that should be the maximum possible age of any galaxy? Interestingly, they said other stuff must be around it. Otherwise it never would've been able to form. Cool.

  • What's up with their accents?

  • oh man so there was light before in space....thats some crazy shit that i truly believe in...

  • @willsmackyoudown .. Years my friend...in 3 years we wont even be half way.

  • @SM3RK2o4 3 years? It took the light 13 Billion years to reach us. After 13 Billion years of expansion and the fact we cant even travel at a fraction the speed of light I think its safe to say Humans will never make it anywhere near that distance in any amount of time.

  • So I'm assuming traveling there would take a long time. I would definately overuse "are we there yet".

  • channel name is spaceRip? so spaceRest in peace??

  • @soURfunnyYOUthink That or the big rip which 1 of the ways the universe meant to end because it expands so much and fast it rips everything apart.

  • @TheQ3XXX er... dude i wasn't being serious... they just sound a little weird. chill.

  • I have always thought that if we find another intelligent species, it will be reptilian in nature.

  • what the fuck is wrong with their accents?! interesting video though.

  • the 'very large telescope' is surprisingly small.

  • Around 300-500 trillion galaxiesi think in the observable lol its safe to say we are being visited, thats the second astronaut thts went on record as saying that earth is being engaged by ETI

  • I wonder how many galaxies are in the visible universe.

  • @foamulator

In my view as numbers are infinite so are galaxies

  • @foamulator the last 'count' was around 500 billion galaxys... but thats only what we can 'see' with our current technology.. the real # is much higher.. its insane how big this universe is..

  • Yes, and considering the numbers, I like to imagine how many "people" there are, stranded on lonely astrological outposts like ours, wondering if they are also - alone.

  • @foamulator Although life on Earth, was very very unlikely if chance exists...

  • @SpanishDomodeath Life on Earth was an absolute certainty.

  • @jaykulls Whys that?

  • @SpanishDomodeath Because it happened.

  • I think we should together use one type of writing style (educational level). We do not use abbreviations anymore. We are losing the habit of writing with accuracy and precision. Then we will begin to understand one another. Everything should be broken down deep.

  • /watch?v=9DTGcuWRCpQ

  • I am the Universe, arisen to self awareness, in a permanent state of transformation, seeking to know itself. I am pleased with the progress I am making but most humans are dumber than a bag of rocks. It is frustrating for me and the Universe. The flat Earth Old Testament is offensive to common sense. What to do? I don't know. Does space bind us all together (behind the eyes as beings) or hold us all apart as doings? I have much to learn.

  • If we could travel as fast as the beginning of the video, only then we can discover lots of galaxies en other cool stuff.. otherwise, nothing

  • @VideoReviews16 The Hubble Telescope in orbit that was launched in April of 1990.

  • Some pretty neat pictures, with filtering and different wave lengths. I really think a lot of what they come up with is speculation though. Sometimes I wonder how they can tell the difference between a galaxy and a spot of dust on the lense. I know there are theoretical ideas involved, because if it was only fact, you wouldn't have varying opinions with the supposedly knowledgeable. Nevertheless, it is awe inspiring to think of such astronomical distances.

  • expansion=time?

  • @plentiner correct! A combination of matter and expansion creates the illusion of time. Also low entropy to high entropy created time i.e. primordial constituents to complex structures such as galaxies, stars, and planets.

  • I love science and they have proved alot of things in life but I know they do not have a clue of how big the universe really is" they said it was 12 billion light yrs, old in 1984 then they did a deep field in 2004 then another in 2007 and claimed they narrowed it to 13,700 light yrs. but when they did that last deep field from the hubble they seen over 10,000 galaxys in a dot in space where they didn,t exspect to find any! so they haven,t a clue how big it is I think its endless and why not???

  • I love watching these videos, I come expecting my questions to be answered, but I just leave with even more questions lol :P

  • TELL ME SOMETHIN MAIY BE I AM WRONG BUT IF YOU LOOK AT EVERY ONE OF EACH GALAXY YOU WILL SEE THAT EACH ONE HAVE THE SAME STRUCTURE WHAT THAT MEANS IS EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS FORM AT THE SAME TIME SOO WHAT THAT MEANS THAT AT THE EXPANCION OR BIG BAN EVERITHYN WAS FORM AT THE SAME TIME SOO THE AGE OF OUR GALAXY IS THE SAME OF EVERY GALAXY IN THE UNIVERSE THAT IS WHY THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME

  • @elgallobani1 I'll tell you somethin'... Your typing in caps makes your illiteracy even more apparent.

  • @ReneeNme your awesome, haha

  • Do astronomers take expansion of space into account when they measure these distances? The light from that galaxy has traveled 12 billion years to reach us, but it had to compensate also for space expansion between us and that galaxy in the mean time, hadn't it?

  • 3 people live near that distant object

  • 0:20 "we are the borg..."

  • @ham236 hahahaha

  • @ham236 resistance is futile!

  • this other galaxy is in OUR universe and there are zillions of other universes never ending in all directions forever and we are but a very very small galaxy amongst millions and millions of OTHER galaxys just in our universe alone...mind boggling isnt it and there is also the things we DONT know...

  • I hope when I die I can tour the universe

  • Spacerip cant be sure, there's other Univereses out there...waiting to be discovered...

  • High end speed of farest galaxies? Looking to the edge of universe?

There are still unsolved problems with the expansion of space.

This video will change your point of view. Please look at this:

    Optical Deceptions in the Universe

…and then, let’s start astronomic science from the beginning …

    Martin

  • @auswolf350 yea your right, 14.9 billion light years

  • Isn't there a limit to how far we can see? I thought because of the speed of light the further away we look the further back in time we look. If we look deep enough into space there should be no light emitted at the beginning of time. Right?

  • @auswolf350 yeah, if you was far enough away you could be looking at earth and be watching the battle of hastings.

  • @mohamedbeard That would be Awesome, but you would need an incredible telescope to see a land battle from 945 light years away...lol

  • @mohamedbeard Asslam U Alaikum. Bro. you should be careful while signing up with a new ID. I mean you should respect our Prophet (P.B.U.H).

  • @uzairzafar844 Your false pedophile prophet deserves no respect while he burns in hell. Always some threat from you worthless Muslims about your evil false prophet and the retarded Koran. Come to my channel to see the proper handling of your book of hate! Get the hell off of a video of science where you are looking for some lie and false claim to promote Islam...

  • Well...

To me, it looks like the lens had a smudge on it, and made the nerds think it's a galaxy...

  • @LexiBrieBetterTV

And that is why your grades are horrible. Obviously.

  • Sorry, forgot to say, the last 2 books I mentioned are by Stephen Hawking.

  • very large telescope is such a lame name. but it makes some nice snapshots

  • So where doe's God come in to this ??

  • @chrischapman37 just shut up...

  • @chrischapman37 lol god...lololol funny

  • @chrischapman37 "God" as a word to describe a force or power beyond the human ability to comprehend, is indeed just a word. The word doesn't fully ascribe all attributes to the "thing". The "sign" that says "Hollywood" is just the word Hollywood - what is contained within Hollywood and the many aspects and diversities of the area are still just superficial understandings on our part. So - in the confines of space, God just is my friend - God is all you see here in the universe. Peace.

  • @chrischapman37 He doesn't.

  • but the question still remeinds, are we alone?

  • @gunnar045 if we are alone this would be the biggest waste of space in history. so i dont think we are alone :)

  • when i saw that cube couldnt help but think borg

  • thanks for posting...amazing vid

  • Looks 2 certian people were distracted by the pretty bright stars and clicked the wrong button. :p

  • I wonder if the people who think this rather basic presentation is too elite would find it easier to understand if they read up on the subject. If they want to find a subject that's really difficult to understand, perhaps they should try string theory.

  • Justin Bieber disliked this video too.

  • @verycrazyghoul Really? Every video has atleast one comment about justen bieber! Why? If you hate him so much why put him in your comment?

  • Why do they talk to us like we all have doctorates? When teaching and entertaining a basic crowd, you appeal to everyone, nerds are such arrogant assholes.

  • @oceansoflovewi ... I believe a normal high school physic student can understand this fully.

  • @oceansoflovewi The subject of the video is geared towards people with average to above average intelligence. They knew that if they dumbed it down, they would insult the intelligence of their viewers.

  • @oceansoflovewi it may not be for everyone - there is no requirement that all videos appeal to the lowest common denominator. Some of us understand and appreciate complexity.

Be honest you can't look away from your iPhone for the full 4:24 anyway - most people are stricken with ADHD now as well as intolerance.

  • Taking down aliens?..I see. 2:14 - 2:32

  • Awesome! Mindblowing! Amazing! I love it!

  • Something that bugs me a lot ... The univers is estimated 13.75 billions years old and started to expand from the same point ... we're looking here at something 13.15 billion years old or 13.15billion lightyears away ,right ?

So this galaxy has been traveling at an average speed of twice the speed of light from us since day one ? How can we see something 600 millions years old when the expansion of the universe even at the speed of light can't allow us to see something more than 1/2 it's life

  • @shannow95 After the great expansion of the big bang, the universe started to cool and expansion slowed down. Galaxies don't travel at the speed of light only the light that they give off.We don't see this galaxy as it is but what it was because it has taken this long for the light to reach us. So this galaxy maybe long dead or has collided with another galaxy to form an even larger galaxy.

  • @shannow95 During the big bang was the time when matter went faster than the speed of light. Inconceivably faster.

  • I love the humble nature of science. You can see it in nearly ever well known scientist that you can think of. However it is especially present in the naming of equipment. "Very large telescope" etc. Either that or they have a wonderful sense of humour.

  • so they draw the universe is cubic shaped?

  • @DieterHellstorm We really don't know the shape of the universe, so this could very well be the shape. Just like in m theory where there are multiply universes shaped like membranes.

  • @DieterHellstorm That's not necessarily supposed to be the universe's shape; it's more a way of looking at the section of the universe that theyre interested in - like taking a lump of it and putting it in a glass box for observation. A REALLY big glass box.

It's conceivable that it could be that shape, but that's not what that model's supposed to say.

  • imagine in the 0:01 - 0:13 we can see like millions of galaxy, we live in a very small part of one galaxy. dammit how big the universe is?

  • @DieterHellstorm It's so big that the human mind can't comprehend. A light year is almost 10 trillion kilometres. Our closest star is 40 trillion kilometres away. The milkyway is 100 000 light years across and consists of about 200 billion stars. The distance between galaxies can reach 4 million light years or more. There are about 100 billion galaxies. And the universe is still expanding. Like I said, incompehensable.

  • Wish we could see the present over there so we'd know what it's actually like right now. :(

  • Is there a "Ridiculously Large Telescope"?

  • ?! How many junkies are actually watching this??

  • so how far is it?

  • @crash6871: I would guess roughly 13,120,000,000 lightyears away.

The age of Universe is ~13,720,000,000 years, this galaxy is from ~600,000,000 after the Big Bang.

That's just how I figure it's supposed to be measured though. Can anyone tell us if this is a valid way of estimating it?

  • @crash6871 Approximatley 124 sextillion kilometers, far enough to circle the Earth at the equator about 3 quintillion times. It took me like 15 minutes to figure that out! =D

  • @crash6871 You basically multiply how far in light years away it is by 10 trillion kilometres( distance of 1 light year). So if this galaxy is 13 billion light years away, then it is 130 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 kilometres away.

  • space + being high = awesome

  • @icecoldbrew92

exactly man i got high and had to watch this 4 times because it was so fucking trippy

  • @icecoldbrew92

    Agreed...hahaha

  • I want to see an entire picture (make-up) of the Universe.

  • @icecoldbrew92 i've never been high before. maybe i should see this video and thor again at the end while i'm high. lol.

  • @icecoldbrew92 Amen to that bud!

  • @icecoldbrew92 wow looks like lotta high ppl are into astronomy.

  • Must have been too many big words for the one thumbs down person. XD

  • @DeviantxRaven There were big words? :c

  • @TimeWarp300 Words like studying and measure. Probably a republican - dont worry about it

  • @DeviantxRaven There's three now.

    ...omg...They're breeding!

  • im high as shit and this is awesomeeee

  • The researchers were very excited until they found out that Google already knew about it and had it cataloged in a separate database.

  • Only madness and the Other Gods lie beyond the universe...

  • dude there could be a civilization there billions of years more advanced than us

  • @MolotovSolution117 that would be really cool and I do think that there is ET life out there. Its just that they are too far away from us..

Why are the other stars so far away from us? I don't get it..

  • @MolotovSolution117 If this civilization is anything like us, it would have destroyed itself a billion years ago.

  • 1 was a freaking idiot that doesn't have a life that thum downed

  • thousands of scientists who deserve to have a telescope named after them, and all we can come up with is a VLT????????????

  • O.o Im first in Highest Rated? Coolio.

  • I LOVE SPACERIP

  • Err..let me guess now..that extermely large telescope will be called the "ELT"? But what is a "SINFONI" then? Tough one, hehe.

  • This is so ridiculously awesome.

  • Love this stuff, can anyone tell me if that animation at the start is an accurate map of what has been recorded or is it just an animation for illustration?

  • @JustB3NJI there is a video around the web that shows a zoom out to the furthest measured / recorded locations in space that we've ever found.

FOUND THE VIDEO :D search for "The Known Universe" on youtube :] enjoy.

  • @garrettshawdotcom Thanks :)

  • why not name all the galaxy to all the names of all the people in the world..? there are trillions of galaxies and billion people..i wish they name it to to mine even if i'm not the discoverer

  • @cruxader27 but the sad thing about the idea is that lot of people have similar names =(

  • @GenoStrider

yeah and only famous people are named after it...

  • Science rules!

  • BAM! I love this channel!^^

  • Get rid of the hip guy with glasses and show that hot-sounding narrator instead

  • @pilgrimproost YES..!! A Female Narrator and Host would be Way Better..!! Where is Seven of Nine when we need her the Most..!! :-)

  • The big bang states that nothing exploded and created the universe. That's nonsense you can't observe or demonstrate that, their just putting their religious view on the galaxy the found.

  • @TheChaosthegreat Yeah I know cause the Big Bang is just a theory meaning that its not even 100% true.

And besides, no man to date in this world or solar system has left and explored the Universe so I don't get how these scientists come up with these sorts of explanations..

  • @Blueknightex They just make crap up for the fun of it. You're definitely smarter than any old scientist.

  • The big bang sucks. For those who don't know the big bang states that norh

  • 1 person believes in creation

  • is there any website that i can keep up with new finds of planets and stuff? I've read some news article about how they found life forms of a distant planet that is very close to us. However, I can't even find that video here nor in NASA website. any help??

  • @swchoi89 Yes, they discovered life on the 3rd planet of the nearest star to us.

  • @culwin thay have NOT found life on any planet, dont talk shit,

  • @jedaaa No, you have that confused with intelligence, which they have not found in your brain. DURRRR

  • @culwin oooooh what a witty retort, you must be the funny boy in your class right......

    show me facts.

  • @jedaaa Your face is facts.

  • @swchoi89 that's fake. To date there are NO planets with confirmed sightings of life. For now scientists are just assuming that the exoplanets that they have discovered 'could' support life.

The main reason is because we don't have the right technology yet that allows us to even take a really good close up look of the exoplanets because they are so far away and their stars are too bright.

  • @swchoi89

Unfortunately they have not discovered life on a distant planet (Gliese 581 g).

What they have (possibly) discovered is a planet which may be close enough to its star that it could have liquid water on the surface.

  • What big bang? I still don't understand this.. what bang?

  • @cata893 Google, use it.

  • @JJAB91 Yeah... it would be to obvious... it's more than that.. the big bang... we don't' know for sure

  • I think I saw the FSM

  • I feel so small...

  • ok so if its 13 billion years away all they need to do is look a lil farther and maybe they can see the origin on the universe. Wow that would be something.
