  • that was the fastest enter/exit ever. why did you take the freeway if the exit is like 800m ahead?

  • @BeAnBeAn22 Because that's the only way to get on the freeway from this part of the city.

  • @jakebelder so you have to go onto a freeway just to get on another freeway?

  • @BeAnBeAn22 Yes.

  • @jakebelder well thats just golly gee dongling dingaling gosh darn stupiddddddd.

  • @BeAnBeAn22 The freeway I'm getting on here terminates when it meets the other freeway, though.

  • Whatcha' driving?

  • @ACZxGalm2 It's a 1994 Mazda 626.

  • this helps me out alil

  • it feels weird.... in England we merge from the left, it seems more logical but I guess it is what you are used too

  • in NJ Highways are really busy esp around the Newark area. it makes merging difficult and frightening. Personally I'd like to avoid the highway as much as possible

  • lol, wow. the freeways we have here in the SF Bay make this look like a graveyard.

  • What pisses me off is that I am careful merging but at proper speed, but some a-hole is often tailgaiting me and speeding. So when I attempt to merge into lane number two, even though I am at the speed limit and have my left blinker on, I cut him of and he is pissed. So apparenlty I either need to speed up and be less safe in watching for oncoming traffic as I merge, or wait in the slow lane until a-hole passes. If there was an accident he would be hitting me in the back of my car.

  • Mustang GT

  • People in cars assume traffic will move over for them while they are entering the highway. Highway traffic is under no obligation to do so. This includes trucks. People, learn how to merge. Yeah, we like it when they move over but it isn`t always safe.

  • A "merge" is up to both the entering traffic and the right lane traffic. Merge means both need to allow each other to go. There is no "yield" sign on the end of an on ramp.

  • Merge does not apply to highway traffic on an interstate. Entering traffic always has to yield. Sign or no. Nor does anyone have to move over. It is a courtesy whenever someone does move over.

  • I have always managed to get in reguardless. There was a time or two they wouldn't let me in but, I turned on my signal and layed on my horn till they gave up and let me in. I let other people in so I expext the same in return.

  • your right. highwayway driving is a picnic but merging scares the crap outta me. in co. highways suck here

  • I agree with the last comment, I love that this video is there. I'm about to go on the expressway for the first time with my temps and this was a big help in what to expect (because somehow in 16 years I never paid much attention to that kind of stuff.)

  • Glad it could help. Just use common sense...be patient, make sure there's no one around you, and take it easy. Drive safe!

  • i love your driving attitude dude... it's relaxed, and just a bit silly ("whaa-hoo"), which is really cool.

although i thought you might have indicated how to know when it is safe to merge -- it's what im searching for, because i still kind of fear merging onto the highway

    anyways great vid nonetheless

  • Pretty simple...just get the car up to speed, put on the blinker, use the mirror and check your blindspot to make sure there's nobody beside you and then just move over. Just takes practice, you'll get more comfortable with it. Cheers, dude.

  • Haha you said the speed limit was 100, and I was like O.O ...until I realized you were referring to the metric system.

  • Canada's road marking is similar to European one. Plus the metric system... It would be perfect if the road quality didn't suck big time :))
