Whoa you're brilliant, I saw so many videos on writer's block and your video was the only one that actually got me to produce a comic page, on the spot!! And I've had writer's block for years!
@67576856666478964567 I'm an anime fan. If you aren't, try watching Ghost in the Shell, Ninja Scroll, or Akira. Opinions are nice. But negative comments without constructive criticism are definitely lame. Especially when they back down from draw-off challenges.
@eddiechinglives You don't suck at drawing. You've got the basics down, that's for sure. If you're looking for advice, which I'm sure you get way more than you want from the people of Youtube, just keep practicing anatomy and backgrounds--best results on a daily basis.
@LittleRascalJack Thanks. I am always glad to hear these videos are helping people. It's great to find out about new people that these videos are helping.
Most likely a thin marker I got from a dollar store in 2005. I think sharpie sells something similar. Sharpie also has a few pens I like to use as well. But don't color on top of the markers or it will definitely smear. That's why REAL artists use india ink.
@eddiechinglives could you explain that. like you are not using something for finishing quality? is that what your saying? i like the look regardless. but ya india ink for like a original copy or what?
@JFAINTER88 Most professionals use india ink on nib pens, or use india ink on brushes. I use a bic pen for my finishes. I do not do it the right way, I do it the way that is most comfortable for me. Check my deviant art for my latest finishes using a bic crystal cheap pen. Google it.
@JFAINTER88 You can find out what your favorite artists use to ink. You can also find what's most comfortable for you. It's good to try everything, but it can get expensive.
Thanks. It just comes with the territory. It's the internet. You put yourself out there, and someones eventually going to get annoyed. I admit the first few bad comments got to me, but after a while, it becomes fun thinking of nice things to say back at them. Hopefully, it confuses them. Plus the comments I get are 98% nice, so the good totally outweighs the bad. Plus, these vids actually are helping people, so there's no negative comment that can make me feel bad, knowing that I am making a dif
I've got my plate full right now. But if you need any opinions or critiques or non-artistic help, I'm your man. Link me your art sometime. I'd love to see it. Thanks!
Your drawing skills are pathetic... Learn from the masters... Take a look at Will Eisner for example and try to see the difference. And now you can censor this comment too.
I am a big fan of Eisner. I'd like to see some of your work sometime. If you turned your negativity towards me into a positive and tried to help others with your knowledge, it would help quite a few people out. Give it a shot sometime.
I'll keep that in mind. Man, I feel like such an idiot now. This is so embarassing. I really should have thought of that. Damn it!!! Hopefully you could post some videos showing how it's really done. But I doubt that's going to happen.
That is soooo helpful and such a great idea! I would get so angry with myself when I would draw emotional sketches of my characters when I knew I should be working on making pages. Now I'll just do this! Thanks.
ai have my own book like 5 comic books my own electra hero comic books and my own fantasy ai make soon a video and ai sell them some 1 or ai gonna make money with them D::
Nope. "Those who can't teach do. Those who can't do teach." And "the great will always rise above the mediocre. They create while others destroy." Just sharing what little knowledge I have and trying to inspire. If people don't like these videos, I suggest not clicking on them.
Dude, your making me feel old. A lot of folks split up, mine as well. I had an uncle dad too. But I try not to have harsh feelings. My folks are definately better off without each other. Hang in there. Try to think of me as more of an artistic mentor. That way my wife won't divorce me.
hahahaha i iwsh u were my father lol dont mean to creep you out but my dad sucks he never married my mom i see him once every 6 months if im lucky haha
and u seem ery funny and intelegent not like my dad
A little. But you reminded me I thought of this years ago when I was trying to figure out the whole comic book thing. Jack Kirby said it best, just sit down and do the work.
I don't need to be an illustrator to know what is great and what is not. I have seen a lot of books teaching people to make comics written by people who don't have the slightest idea of how to make a comic. And that annoys me a lot. I think the worst thing at drawing is lazyness. Bald heads, no noses and flat windows are examples of that.
By the way I'm a professiona illustrator and I have published my drawings on magazines all over my country.
I still would like to see some of your work. I'm just a wanna be comic artist that tries to inspire people to create comics even though they might not be the best artist. And I've succeeded. So no matter how crappy people think my art is, and believe me, I know it's crappy, these videos are helping some people, and there's no comment in the world that would make me feel bad for putting up these videos.
for a "professiona illustrator" who has pictures "all over the contry" i certainly have'nt herd of you, and if you were this BIG DEAL artist, why would you be looking at these "how to draw comic" video's, hmm.
It's all good, dude. I'm used to rubbing people the wrong way with these vids. With a select few people, these vids touch a nerve. Mostly because my work is sloppy and I'm a nobody putting out these vids, but I keep getting comments that they are helping people, so people can say what they will. It won't change the fact that I am positively helping many beginners get the confidence to start making comics no matter what their skill level.
Your attitude is great, the video is cool, and you're encouraging people and helping them move things along some. It's not all about being super-slick. You're showing a straight-up no-frills way for people to have some artistic fun and gain some sense of accomplishment . Your mode of starting from the sketch or doodle and THEN adding the frame is a helpful and freeing way to approach things, instead of always letting the blank frame dictate the composition. Hope you keep on rolling, Bro!
