@wizzum64 It isn't the airplanes. When you become famous you either sell out to the powers that be & repeat their propaganda or you end up like:Jim Croce,Ricky Nelson and John Lennon,etc..They don't always use planes.
Lucky crowd to get to see both him and Maury Muehleisen perform. As only they could - together. Masters of the trade. Unparalleled musicians. Sweet. And sincere. Thanks for memorializing this event. And reminding all of us how PURE music was back in the 70's.....
I also read that the pilot was partying the night before and with his heart condition he ran to the airport and was out of breath when he got behind the controls. Air crashes are usually pilot error. I remember I was driving from NY to Ohio to start college there when I heard the news on the radio. The night before CBS aired 'Bonnie & Clyde" for the first time on TV and Billie Jean King beat the hell out of Bobby Riggs. Doesn't seem like 35 years ago.
I'm not really into acoustic folk type music, but Jim was amazing and I loved his work. He trancended categories and had a universal appeal. If you go to the sugarmegs site you can hear his last concert. You can also hear about a zillion other shows by just about any artist you can think of. Shows arte listed under the performers first name, so Jim Croce's shows are under "J". Enjoy and God bless Jim Croce.
I was ten years old when Jim Croce died. I will never forget that day as long as i live. The pilot who flew the plane Jim Croce was in had a heart condition and they believed he had a heart attack and crashed into the tree.
Why was the guy flying a plane if he had a heart condition? I am still trying to figure that one out. He is buried in Philadelphia, Pa right off the turnpike.
lol ya he does.. wrote a great song though...they died in a plane crash after a concert, hitting one of the only trees at the end of the runway, pretty crazy..
So Awesome!!!Jim Croche, is a total Legend and I've never heard him live, until now......dam his voice is as perfect as his studio recordings!!!XD!!!THX 4 posting such wicked footage!!!
reminds me of someone from work lol... the boss lets him run the yard lol, too scared to fire him...i follow his word like the gospel lol, he's the biggest hillbilly but he knows what he's doing
I love at 2:35 how Maury starts joining in "Bad, Bad!!" It's so great. They were so good in 1973, just before the peak of their careers :-( But what they left us is just gigantic!

Really good video, thanks for posting it. Five Stars.
Got a question though, was this Jim's last live performance before his death? I found on the internet where it says he died in mid September.
Such a tragedy, but he'll always be remembered as one of the few who went out on top, unlike so many in that era. He was awesome.
Thanks again for posting. =)
