  • Anyone who can't configure a printer for their house is a moron. And this is not a networking issue. It's a operating system issue. I'm a network engineer by trade.

  • take your printer disc, stick it in the computer you want to print off of and select the option "This printer will be used over a network". Also if anybody he should of called the printer manufacturer, the support tech is correct in that their product is not related to the issue. Especially being that all the computers are able to acess the network. User error...in this case ignorance is not bliss.

  • <3

  • of corse the guy on the phone is indian you cant get anything done with them, apple ftw

  • @tv321123 I dont want to argue with u however just want to state that I am an indian and a CCNP..can configure this type of a network in 5 mins. and all of my friends can too.

If one person was not able to support doesn't mean nobody in india can do it..

  • Yeah dude, your Dad is a dick....

  • geez... i dont know why people even bother calling customer support when the answers itself are available at google

  • If all the computer are accessing the network, then what the fuck does the router have to do with it?

  • Incompetent fool! File and printer sharing is so easy.

  • haha. DAD: "Then, what am I paying for!? Why did I buy this product?!" Prince: "For internet connection, it's for internet connection." OH how epic(:

  • 1) Linksys does not responsible for configuring your computer to share a printer with the network

    2) As soon as you loose your cool, your going to loose there help.

    3) There is nothing wrong with the router, just with the user, He seems like he knows a thing or two about technology, why not Google it?

    4) Pince is probably not the most helpful person... but the caller basically called him stupid,

  • @tonyrueb you are wricht

  • @tonyrueb Hello, linksys rep!

  • @WindowsTricks001 - no not a linksys rep, just a guy with common sense

  • Linksys tech support is for trouble shooting to see if the product works or not. They can also help you install a device. Setting up a home network is a job for an in home tech. I feel for the tech support guy having to put up with people like this when its not his job or problem. At the same time I feel for the angry dad, customers are miss led and screwed all the time by companies. No where on the box does it say "network knowledge needed, you may need to hire a tech".

  • Maybe Geek Squad to help you out? I work in IT, not tech support, and put up with this kind of crap from users. It's not a problem with the router itself, which is what the helpdesk is supporting. It's a configuration issue with either the Linksys software (what the user sets up) or with permissions (what the user sets up.) If you don't know any more than how to follow the quick start guide you don't need to be installing anything. Pay for someone to do it and then you can complain to them.

  • learn to do it yourself haha, quit relying on indian people who work for a router company to set up your printer lol. No one can help stupid people who want everything handed to them

  • thats so easy, the printer is connected to the desktop, the desktop is in the same work group that the laptop, and the laptop has install the printer via network -> just type the same name in the work group to all others computers and install the printer from your newtork -> google it before you call it hahahaha

  • LOL linksys technicians are only trained to configure linksys products. your dad should have called his printer manufacturer not linksys... the tech should have set an expectation to your dad......and to your dad "linksys tech only support linksys products, theyre not even responsible for connecting your computer or other wireless devices to your network" theyre only concern is to setup your linksys router properly.. THATS IT......

  • @renakook exceed customer expectations

  • For newbs like this, I just give them network magic lol.

  • Sorry to say it but our dad is so wrong! He is supposed to call Microsoft for network printing not Linksys...but i can understand his pain.

  • "Pince" sounds like a fucking idiot.

  • This call is a result of Customer Misconception not incompetence on the tech's part. The router does little in the way of interacting with the Printer it simply route's traffic which the customer and the tech established it's doing just fine.

If the printer is specifically designed for network usage (evidenced by the laptops ability to print wirelessly) why didn't the customer call the Printer Manufacturer?

  • Well, technically speaking, he doesn't have a router per se, because a router is something like a Cisco 2500 series and then you connect that to a Layer 2 switch, like a Cisco Catalyst 1900. When you have both a router and a switch as an all-in-one system, like the home-based vs business systems, it's technically not a "router", but a Layer 3 switch, which is a router + a Layer 2 switch all in one.

  • I think you may have your terms mixed up. A layer 3 switch has some router features and the fundemental difference is how they route traffic. A Layer 3 switch is generally hardware based routing and can router Layer 3 traffic as fast as Layer 2 switching. However (unless you pay a lot of money) they can not usually do NAT or other software based features linksys soho routers have. (Such as acting as a Gateway)

  • The hardware inside a Layer 3 switch merges that of traditional switches and routers, replacing some of a router's software logic with hardware to offer better performance in some situations.

  • "they are busy sir"

"what the hell is my time?!!!" lmao :p

  • Your dad probably would have received some support if he wasn't hot tempered and and didn't harass the technician.

  • i called linksys today bout a connection problem and they wanted to charge me 9.95 for remote access lmfao wat a joke i just bought the router 2 months ago. thats y we hav no jobs anymore its sad someone im not naming anyone, but put all are jobs in china india etc. There software sucks on routers it use to be good. I installed the latest firmware on the router then it went down for 5 hours.

  • @pmpspot : basically this is an optional offering.you can opt for this or not its totally up to you.

  • actually if ur pc or laptop can go online wired to the router and u want to connect wirelessly then the agent really has to pitch the remote access for 9.99 (it is where the agent will access ur computer and do the troubleshooting for u) but if dont want to take advantage of the remote acces u may continue with the free phone support and manual troubleshooting...

  • As for this Linksys tech support video, end users don't get that printing wireless can be done a in one of 2 ways .

    Ad hoc and infrastructure.

Unless you know the differences, berating some tech guy in India is like beating a dead horse as the distinct possibility that it's beyond his scope of comprehension.

Next time buy it from a somebody like your local computer shop and have them support you.

You pay for what you get.

  • >Intel miicroprocessor was invented by an india

Intel 4004 ,the worlds first microprocessor.was invented by Federico Faggin, Ted Hoff, and Stan Mazor.

First usable email by Ray Tomlinson

USB was developed by Intel and a group of engineers as a modifeied serial connection method.

Ajay Bhatt was given co developer credit by Intel.but Digital, IBM, Intel, Northern Telecom, and Microsoft. Intel produced the UHCI host controller and open software .

His inventors role was much overstated.

  • I don't get it.. what's so difficult to configure?

  • The tech support guy sounds like an Indian. Indian support personnel are stupid BIG TIME! I really can't figure out why companies outsource their support to India. There are other competitive countries that provide better support at the same price.

  • file and printer sharing is supported by microsoft, Not linksys , thats what the tech was trying to make him understand.

Intel miicroprocessor was invented by an india, the USB was Invented by India, worlds first email was also invented by indian.

What americans gave was just windows 95 there after The development was done by indians, so think before u speak

  • @sidapolinario Haha, I didn't know countries owned their own tech support teams.

  • LMFAO!!!!!!!!! I am work from home tech support myself, I wonder why its so popular now hmmmmm :)

  • Omg you're dad is an asshole, you know why?

First of all one computer works, if that's the case ITS OWN SUPPORT! Linkyses is'nt just an company that sits all figuring the dumb idiot actions. Because you dad said it has worked before.

So he has been screwing around with the settings. The helpdesk has other people to help, and no some rude, unedicated person why has no respect for people who try to do there job.

    Nuff said

Btw linkyses is from cisco ;)

  • Hell No!! I agree with the Dad 100%. I can't believe the tech guy doesn't know that you can print wirelessly. Thats basic information. he should have been able to help the poor man configure this crap fast. its a simple LAN network connection and adding printers that it. Nothing difficult..

  • No nothing diffcult,

But you're dad can google on the internet, and has an wireless connection to the internet.

Linkyss ins't just some free school where people learn you how to things, there doing there job what they sell.

I work at a tech center, and if i spoke you're dad I would say: I know how it works, but you don't have any respect and you are insulting me. Good bye!!

  • I feel the same way too, I want to quit this job because of the very inconsiderate customers. Were not perfect that we know everything and can just do the troubleshooting every time.

  • Cisco ROCKS!!

  • oh i know how you feel.

  • if you have problems regarding third party devices that is non-linksys you might as well call the product manufacturer of that device...

  • exactly the point of the tech agent... its not that you're a tech support agent. you know everything! ... this kind of callers are irritating, they even get mad at you for that issue. tsk!

  • the tech was right.. linksys does not support file and printer sharing..

base on my resources it is microsoft who can help him with that.. coz microsoft will add a program or install a program to our system so that he can do file and printer sharing...

    peace out!

  • That so-called technician barely knows his job and is barely comprehensible. If I was in his shoes, i would have lost it and told him to "Get the fuck off the phone and get me someone who fucking speaks english."

  • Just got off the phone with linksys on my wrt54g. They were pretty helpful, and determined quickly and accurately that their router turned into a very useful paperweight after only 2 years of use, and that it was beyond service/coverage.

At least it only took 5 minutes to determine that their product sucks..

  • well you need to pay for technical support when your linksys device is out warranty... you need to extend the technical support for that one.... and its the company's policy.

  • Is your dad Woody Allen?

  • printers and faxes>add printer>from network.

    Bam.

half the time you don't even need drivers.

  • listen very close to what he asked. He does not even know what he wants.

  • just connect the printer directly to the wireless router.

  • why does he start crying at 6:03?

  • i just wanna give my sentiment on this kind of issues.. i work for linksys.. for those customers who buy these techi devices if you call tech support what we do is we give instructions on how the device will be connected.. if you cannot understand or connect the device then go hire a technician or stop buying one...

  • Nobody seems to understand that you can't support every issue they have.

  • You actually want people to stop buying your products? Wow ~ im amazed.

  • During the set up on the wireless printer, just choose the ssid of the router, enter any key if u have encryption, then just install the printer software on ur compter.

  • It just need a clear understanding on the customer's problem. He said his laptop can print wirelessly (that is because that printer has a wifi enabled). In his case, the printer is already installed in his laptop. If he wants is to configure all of his computers to print wirelessly, for laptops, he just have to install the printer and for desktop there must be wireless card installed. Lan as well.

  • Linksys support suck shit. I had to deal with them once. Eventually, I am the one who has to figure everything out.

  • your dad sucks at life

  • ahahahahaha! thats funny on SO MANY levels

  • hahahaha, that was so funny

  • i had a bad experience with linksys customer service and technical support. they didn't want to replace an item under warranty after they told me they would 5 minutes prior. i had to take action with the Better Business Bureau. it was the most ridiculous spectacle ever.

i am never giving linksys my service ever again, and i will encourage my friends and family to do the same.

  • Dad - did you finally get it to work? I hope so. Don't despair - if it doesn't kill you - it makes you stronger.

  • I had bad experience with Linksys also at work. We had a new Hub that wouldn't power up but when I called Linksys, they told me the Hub won't work with the internet and that I would need a router even though I told them the hub is dead and won't power up. All I wanted was a RMA to have the Hub returned to have it repaired.

  • your dad is an ass hole and hes wrong

  • PWN that foreign d-bag!

btw this is an easy setup rofl

  • Your dad's a jerk. And very rude.

  • Sorry to say your father is wrong. The other commenters have hit the nail on the head; the router is doing what it's supposed to do and nothing more. And listening to your dad, he's putting words in the support person's mouth. It's pretty clear this vid is a FAIL.

  • The tech support guy sounds like he is a first level script reader, sounds like he is not technical at all-typical for outsourced support. The customer sounds like he has a home work group setup, the desktop is acting as the print server, the laptop that is printing is mapped to the desktop and the printer was mapped through the desktop. The printer sounds like it has no wireless built in, if it did, the router would pick it up and it would be another available node on the network.

  • I hope your dad gets hit by a galloping horse. But not hard though! Just hard enough to knock him on his ass and make him sore for a few days.

  • Yeah, your dad is a moron

  • This guy is being a total jerk and has nothing to do with Linksys. Tell your dad if he wasn't being a total jerk - interupting the agent, talking over him and berrating him with his utter contempt that he would have understood that the network was WORKING FINE!

Does your printer say Linksys on it NO? Is it connected to a Linksys print server NO!...

  • Perhaps linksys should make a router that does everything for you for free --- how would that be?

  • if the router is working already then the job of linksys is done.

  • Get the same type of call when working in ISP technical support

  • if it's a wired desktop, it really cannot print wirelessly. but if it's a wireless laptop, of course it can.

  • is it a network printer?

I could get the pinter to work

  • hahahahahaha wow the guy is crying...hahahaha...

fool needs to learn how to setup the comp to connect to a "network printer". and sadly it's right this is something that linksys doesn't have to support but yea linksys does have some not so bright support people but the guy sayings it won't work isn't the correct response he should be giving but they're not as bad as SBC support trying to charge people for their support when they don't even know what a Port it

  • SBC tech support does not have to know what a port is. coz SBC does not block any of your ports and neither it helps with ur linksys or any other rouer. if you dont know what to do with your port numbers thats your fuck up

  • lol angry SBC worker? never said they blocked ports numb nuts they were trying to tell me that port 80 doesn't exist, you must work for SBC assuming shit that isn't true already good job ;)

have you heard of port fowarding? or are you going to tell me that doesn't exist either?

  • The guy on the phone is exactly right, the product sold is doing what it is supposed to do if the customer is able to get onto the internet. You dont buy a car then go back to where u bought and ask them "well how do I drive it", or buy a rifle and demand the shop teach you how to shoot. If the internet works then Lynksys are 100% right. I use lynksys and there chat support was fantastic and got me up and running, but once it works thats all they are required to do!!!!!!

  • After reviewing this vid twice.. It clearly shows your dad is asking for something not related to the router.

Configuring the printer or your home network to print to a printer has nothing to do with "Linksys".

This is like calling Microsoft or the maker of the laptop to configure your network.

  • why is ur dad crying? lmao

  • Coincidentally, the router is probably not the cause for your computers not printing.

You bought the wireless router to act as a wireless router (to communicate to the internet or communicate between multiple computers on your home network)

If the laptops can communicate to other computers, then this router is not the fault.

  • Again linksys tech support does not support such configuration. It is not their job, but only to get the basic needs of what the router was intended to do. For more advanced network needs you should hired a consultant that knows what they are doing. It's just funny since your dad went to the wrong person for tech support. Have him hire a consultant. It'll be much easier and the good ones can explain to your dad what is need in a simple way :) Good luck.

  • There are various ways to get a printer networked. One way is to share the printer from one of the desktops on the network. However, the problem with that is that computer has to be on all the time for other computers to print to it. The other solution is to buy a external print server which is better so you don't have to leave a dedicated computer on all the time when you need to print. My recommendation is hire a local consultant to solve your needs.

  • This is sooo funny.... just go hire a consultant.

  • lol why r so many support companies like that. When I call the ps3 or xbox 360 and cox network and linksys. They are all dumbasses

  • Its because they can only support their product to a limit. If you have a Microsoft XBOX 360 and are try to get voice to work past your ghetto router, they may not have the manual for your piece of shit router.

  • Linksys has shit products and shit support!!!

  • chat support is brill, jsut stay the hell away from Belkin,

  • Linksys support is based out of India, those retards are always blaming the ISP (where I do tech support), those guys are seriously retarded.

  • your dads an asshat. Linksys isnt going to support that. I have 5 comps and set them all up to print on the printer connected to my pc in mins.

  • so why even call the company if you are going to get angry

  • Uh... to get the problem resolved? I don't think it would help to call another company's tech support and ask them to help fix a different product.

  • but he could of given them al ittle more respect

  • He was respectful for the first 15 minutes or so of the phone call. When it became clear that Pince was incompetent and then Pince lied in attempt to salvage himself, Dad lost respect for him, at which time I finally pulled out the camera.

  • @TABpresents

thats so easy, the printer is connected to the desktop, the desktop is in the same work group that the laptop, and the laptop has install the printer via network -> just type the same name in the work group to all others computers and install the printer from your newtork -> google it before you call it hahahaha

  • Regardless of what the actual technical issue is here, the Linksys tech support guy is doing a horrible job of managing the call. The correct way to handle this would be to let the guy vent (because he's angry and that's part of it), then really try to understand what he's trying to accomplish.

Linksys support really is doing a terrible job of managing this call.

  • The generation of americans are all STUPID MOTHER FUCKERS. not just the young generations but almost all of them, they lazy assholes. the keep on buying something, like computers but they don't know how do used it. what a STUPID idea.

  • just because they are lazy doesn't mean they aren't better than one of the countries thats not even really developed like cuba and the philippines, they have the worlds strongest military and most revenue...

  • Wow your dad's a prick.

  • Newb

  • i configured mine easily if you want i can try to make a vid showing you how

  • yea i dunno why this guy needed to call tech support. must not know anything about networking. i too configured a 4 way wireless network, for my parents. its really easy. additionally, there are tons of walkthrough guides you can read. everyone knows that all tech support lines suck for everything. do the research yourself!!! it took me about half an hour to figure out how to do it,then do it, plus, i was working with 4 different PCs, two vista, two xo pro.

  • yea lol good point its because all the tech support people do is enter ur question into a computer database and read it off to u, anyone who can read can do it hehe...

  • Linksys Sucks!!!

I'll never buy a Linksys again.

  • sounds like the same guy that work at microsoft activation.. America needs to boycott these companies till we get people who know what thier doing and speak english? Also since when is it legal to sell stuff that doesn't work properly and give no support or return policy? Thats the american companies.

  • seriously, every company has the same idiot people

  • i know linksys tech support can suck... but it's not their job to configure your computers to print... they're just there to help with your router problems... as far as i know none of their routers have any built in print servers

  • wrongggg. you can assign anything an ip address. you dont need a 'printer server' all you have to do is assign the printers an address from the router. it worked so easy for me

  • Everytime me or my wife call Linksys the tech can never speak english clearly. Then they get pissed when you ask them to repeat themselves like 20 times. My wife always tells them to get her someone that speaks english and they really get pissed. Hahahaha...

  • If the printer is wi-fi, all your wireless laptops should be able to print

  • Well the wireless laptop is printing. The desktop computers on the wireless network aren't printing.

  • 1. Wireless cards installed on ur desktops and should access the SSID(network name) of your router and be connected.

    2. The printer software should be installed on those desktops and added the printer.

then u are ready to go ;)

  • Linksys only supports the internet connection for clients who uses a router. Anything beyond that is not anymore a support from Linksys. That is only a special feature that only client will work on. IF client is using the print server, that's where Linksys tech support would support. File and printer sharing is a concern with Microsoft and/or printer.

  • Fuck you, you fucking spamming noob.

  • Man I know how you feel, when you call those damn people you can't even hear them

  • Spamming the Photoshop Cafe is not cool, and not the way to become internet famous. If you want to be viral, let it happen organically. Spamming will only make people NOT like you.

    Funny video though.
