Does this have to be burned to a blank cd? My Magic Engine won't run the file when I try accessing it in the "Load Rom" section. It doesn't even show it, even though it's saved in the Magic Engine folder.
I myself own both versions but one is not better then the other I think.
SNES version I wont bother to call a conversion. Has some things the pc engine dont have. Better graphics, gameplay with the dash, gaining super valis armor, and having a inventory. And yes snes version has the best game music ever made. However both PC engine and SNES are very good games and is freakn hard.
valis 1 to 4 serier in pc-e are the 90's 16bit video game best . also ys1 to 4 is the same . in both music, graphic and characters. is all my clildfood good memory. i still have them in my house .
I have both versions. The Super NES is the superior version. Only lacks the anime scenes. It´s far superior in every aspect. And, it´s one of the most HARDEST games ever made. The hardest mode is INSANE. One of my favorite games.
Well, graphic-wise and difficulty, I'd say the PC-Engine version overcomes the SNES version, but the music on both versions of Valis IV are good, it's just that I'd prefer the Super Nintendo version over the PC-Engine system. No offense! It is a great 16-bit videogame system!
I use to Own a PC-Engine Duo RX by NEC, a very nice version. Very Reliable. I was curious to buy this one. Now I get to see part of it, Great ! btw, Dracula X chi no Rondo for PC Engine - the 120 dollar one on Ebay? Is awsome very different than SNES./super Famicom.
Yeah Rondo is the 120 dollar one, and is the real deal. Alot of people get the misconception that the SNES/SFC Dracula X is a port of the PCE game, which came two years after Rondo. It isn't. That makes sense from the Japanese point of view as they call it Dracula *XX*.
This game was harder then the snes.Luckly i manage to finish it. It was not easy. Believe me it still not compares to the nes version in terms of difficulty. I like this one better than the snes. But the music on the snes sounds better. For some reason i like the low frequecy sounds but thats just me.:P
I actually have to say I liked the SNES version's soundtrack a bit more, but it was cool to see the PC-Engine CD-ROM version in full effect, thanks for putting this up.
Please post more of this game on youtube, the first stage alone is a lot different and thankfully doesn't have that stupid boss gauge. The longer you take to beat a stage the more life a boss has? I know Atlus likes making challenges but that was ridiculous.
I hear that, this one game really pisses me off, too much damage knockback. If I'm lucky enough to beat the game and record it on tape, I'd just make a clip of segmented highlights and cut cinemas.
Cool instead of playing the game lets go right to the cut scenes. BTW you can download the pc version(windows) version without the cd want me to link it for you or anyone who view this comment?
Finally! I had the SNES version, but always wanted the "real" version. Valis 3 on the Genesis was actually a better conversion from CD to cartridge than the SNES version. Please post more!
just jump and slash.... I miss these days of simplicity.

Snes soundtrack though is way better (melody wise). Otherwise you can't compare the two. PC Engine for the win.

SNES and SEGA versions aren't so great.
PC Engine all the way. I also like the original Valis II on PC-88/98 and Sharp X68.

Ahhh...Valis. I wonder if I can ahhhhownloahuuu~sniff~ this version and see if it is any good. Excuse me. XD
I played the SNES version (on an actual SNES system. I have a friend who had it...and I tried it. =P)
I played Valis 3 (Genesis...errr, emulator), and Fantasm Soldier (same as Genesis). Beat Fantasm, but not 3...

Why does this series seem to have so many parallels to the Castlevania series?

I didn't think the SNES version was that bad. The music and atmosphere were great, but I gotta admit, the game was quite difficult.

The series is more famous on the Genesis and Turbo systems.

The SNES Valis is mad hard. I don't remember making it too far. I didn't know it was for Genesis.
