  • hey guys, what does boogie mean? jajaja im serious

  • the match box is obviously glued to the table. but wonderful match stick drum solo all the same. krupa was magic...still is.

  • The last minute is the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life

  • 1:46 to 1:49 lots of drums crashes dont add up. I think there is combination of dubs or editing. Listening to krupa's cymbal crashes and him playing them do not match. Nonetheless man does that guy have feel!!!

  • OK Girls, who would not just love to be able to dress like this for the night and have our guys dressing the same? be honest now

  • @Civitatuccillo Wouldn't that be terrific??? A different time ... a better era.

  • 2:27 I play a kick a** drumbeat, and I JIZZ IN MY PANTS

  • how cool was gene krupa! :-)

  • i wish we had clubs like this!

  • Zbieram szczękę z podłogi

  • Krupa was an incredible force of drumming and swing. While many contemporary musicians accuse him of being old-fashioned, antiquated, nothing could be further from the truth. With 'Drum Boogie' you can actually see where rock and roll drumming would emerge: Krupa plays 16th notes against the triplet feel then accents the middle triplet to kick the band in the ass -and this is only in time-keeping! He plays explosive fills with the ferocity we'd hear regularly in 70s and 80s rock. Endless chops.

  • @XylophoneNoir Well said. Krupa was probably the best drummer ever!!

  • Caro Emerald brought me here. :)

  • Barbara we love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 !

  • Gene Krupa... epic!

  • Couldn't help but notice the African American gentleman playing trumpet. I know there is still racial prejudice in the US but so glad it's not like it use to be and I missed that ugly part of history.

  • @csnowbar The African American trumpet player was ROY ELDRIDGE, by the way. One of the greats who bridged big band swing to be-bop in the 40s. You are right, those were horribly racist times but some band leaders, like Krupa, hired musicians on their merits (like Benny Goodman before him). Eldridge not only became a featured soloist w/the band but as he was also a singer he began to record some vocals, usually in duet with the Krupa band's vocalist Anita O'Day, ie- Let Me Off Uptown.

  • I grew up listening to this and other swing greats, still have my great grandmother's 78's, and three machines capable of playing them. =)

  • Those were the days. Those were the fuckin' days man.

  • I think Darwin was wrong after all, this stuff is 70 years old and what happened in the meantime doesn't look like evolution at all.

  • 27 people have a bad case of croup-a.

  • My favorite song ever played by Gene Krupa.

  • Thumbs up if Taxi Driver brought u here!! :)

  • @sameervma1 Ragingbull brought me here!

  • THIS is specificallly the kind of thing they hid from the "rock generation" so that young people in the 60's & 70's would think all music from beforehand was slow and boring.

  • I love how the drummer always spazzes!!

  • Yubba dubba, not was she just a great acress with a smokin, body and face but had a great voice to ! Backen, Gene Krupa on drums really gets ya jivin' !!

  • I thought I was a good drummer but..... after watching "The Master"... I am shamed to have thought as much.

I now take my sticks and burn them.

I take a hammer , and smash both hands.. so that I never disgrace the drumming profession again and shame the honor of GK. ... I lower my eyes, bend at the waist. and walk out backwards... fearing to look the Master In His Eyes..

  • 1:45 Genes so good he doesn't need to play anything!

  • I can see how Keith Moon got his inspiration

  • While Gene Krupa is clearly a fantastic drummer, and this is an awesome song... I fail to see how he outdrums most modern drummers. Richard Christy, right off the top of my head, is outstanding.

  • Matchstick boogie is my favorite part of this movie

  • Wow! Thanks! Excellent Quality!

  • krupa is the greatest drummer off all time

    Gregski !

  • I love how Gene outdrums most modern drummers while wearing a suit

  • This piece of hotstuff(Barbara Stanwick) comes from the frichieilm Ball of Fire

  • I was hoping this clip from the movie would make it to YouTube. Every time I watched the movie, I would always go back to this part of the movie. I love this movie! You did a FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! Thanks for Posting!

  • @junisas1 he is Gary Cooper!

  • thumbs up if you play the drums!! :D

  • at this time still exist sensuality and talent no like now silicone and computer druming ....

  • Fantastic video thanks for posting. I love the matchstick drumming from 4:30 and the "BOOGIE" at 4:46.

  • One of the best movies ever!! and a great jazz piece to boot! Glad to be able to share it!

  • it's better than lady gaga

  • good music that already died this group

  • 24 people don't have a drum boogie

  • @animatorFan74 Why post this? It's never funny, and just degrades the rest of the comments that are occasionally actually interesting. You're a sad, pathetic waste of a person if you think posting the same joke over and over and over and over again will get you any sort of recognition as having a good sense of humour. Youtube is full of pathetic pseudo-comedians like yourself, you're not original or interesting. Your virgin-comment is bad even by youtube standards, how can you "have" a boogie?

  • @thereforeimustbegod Get over yourself

  • @animatorFan74 Says the person trying to get thumbs up from morons by repeating a non-funny joke.

  • @thereforeimustbegod My cat's breath smells like cat food

  • @animatorFan74 obvious troll is obvious

  • @thereforeimustbegod NAh, just couldn't be bothered coming back with anything that would incite another comeback..... :P

    Randomness wins out...??

  • @animatorFan74 You regret posting that pathetic little joke attempt, so I win.

  • @thereforeimustbegod fuck u

    duck

  • @saramoritas Do you not get pissed off with these pathetic black people saying things that aren't funny in order to get thumbs up and achieve nothing?

  • @thereforeimustbegod suck my cock bitchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @saramoritas Problem?

  • @saramoritas Don't be so anxious to show us your ignorance - and, your shortcoming's.

  • @thereforeimustbegod

    your name is appropriate

  • @timmeh231 Care to elaborate? Are you trying to insult me? I don't follow.

  • @thereforeimustbegod

I'm saying you are worthy of calling yourself god for that comment :)

  • @thereforeimustbegod Well what are u trying to succeed posting a large, pompus, and rude comment? Are u trying to make this man a better man or just make yourself feel superior. You deserve to be critisised cause you are an educated man/woman. Forgive a mistake. If u want to make the world better find the right way to care for the other people or else ull have failed.ty for ur time. A nice troll... Please dont like me, idont need ur acceptance (that may be a lie):D

  • Szeretem nagy lemezem van Tőle!!

  • Wtf can't we listen to music without someone talking about the fuckin Jews all my life every fuckin day all I hear about is how bad the Jews have had it Give It a fuckin break guys everyone was doing it hard in those days Christ sakes they nuked the japs and you don't hear them

Whinging came here to show my son a good drummer look for others appreciation and you get this crap

  • @cellulitehero

So true... So very True indeed:)

    I like Gene,he's the best:)

  • @cellulitehero He's trying to troll, but he's not very good at it bless him... He'll get bored and go hang himself hopefully. He doesn't have any friends so nobody will be that bothered by it. A win-win situation!!

  • @cellulitehero I know right, trolls like virgin-breath over here disgust me.

  • Krupa the best drummer hands down, and Barbara Stanwyck Brooklyn's own singing, what a trip

  • Krupa the best, hands down

  • This chick is trip - She calls Gene "Krupe" and the lighting guy is junior. "A little juice down here Junior!". A real dame....lol

  • Love the look the gal next to Gary Cooper give him after he doesn't know what 'Boogie' was!!

  • Krupa is orgasmic!!

  • oh hell, I had to come back and get another dose of Babs.

  • I'd just like to boogie with Barbara Stanwyck; What a hot number!

  • @tobygrey22

    Hehehehe Amen!! me too:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite Dude I hope this is just a joke in bad taste, but that's a horrible thing to say. Please remove.

  • @billybobs309

I dont understand? Don't you think this is hip and cool? because I do and I wasnt joking about that:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite No the part about jews being murdered, quite obviously... it's a horrible thing to say

  • @billybobs309

    Oh ok I understand now:)

Um,you do realise that many jews were murdered right? I dont want to break down the whole thing about ww2 but you should google the Holocaust because it really happened my friend:)

And had I been alive during this time period? I would definitely be listening to this stuff while auschwitz was happening:) Auschwitz by the way,is where the Jews were being murdered:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite I know it happened, i have a fucking history degree. I know all about Dachau. I'm saying it's disgusting that you think it's appropriate to mention the murder of millions of people on a music video, followed by a smiley face. Yes, you would have been listening to this, but don't bring up the holocaust and then make jokes about it. Some people would be very offended by your comment.

  • @billybobs309

But I didnt joke about it.. It really happened:)

I merely mentioned that this is what id be up to,during the death of those less fortunate:)

And my smiley face is because of the music,I cant help it.. it is that good:)

WOW!! you have a history degree? why am I having to explain what went down?

Also,I dont wish to hurt anyones feelings? however,i'm not here to hold their hands and baby them either:)

Gene Krupa can beat that drum like theres no tomorrow:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite "during the death of those less fortunate:)" - That is not acceptable use of a smiley. Nobody suggested it didn't. Yu don't have to explain anything, i understand what you said, at no point have you explained anything to me. If you weren't so moronic you would see that I am explaining to you how what you said is unacceptable, but you cannot understand that. You wouldn't distastefully bring up the holocaust if you didn't want to hurt people's feelings. I'm much smarter than you.

  • @billybobs309

Your so much smarter than I am that you have no idea that the holocaust took place lol:)

anyway mr angry pants.. This is what id be listening to while the jews died so lets listen to Krupa and Barbs boogie on down and forget about those who died at the same time this all happened:)

    You big smart man you:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite You're disgusting, what the fuck? Why say something like that? You have no standards.

  • @catfacesandwich

I disagree.. I believe that even today these guys would have GREAT standards:)

So if you dont like their music? you should listen to something else and not put down the video we all love:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite Unsuccessful troll is unsuccessful. I am a big fan of Gene and know his work much better than you do. Your comment can't be seen as it has received bare negative votes. Lol. I don't like trolls who try and make jokes about the holocaust. You're not funny, even to yourself. You're just wasting your time there, nobody cares about internet comments that can't be read unless you press show. You'd have to be a right virgin to think otherwise.

  • @catfacesandwich

How can you say that Gene is an Unsuccessful Troll (fairytale Gremlin creature that lives under a bridge) and then go on to say that you are a big fan of his and you know his work better than everyone else? :)

And for your information,i'm not wasting my time here:) .. I love this video and you can't stop me from loving it.. No matter how much you may like right Virgins and thinking otherwise:)

    Go Gene! ROCK THE HOUSE:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite Billybobs309 already trolled this video, much more successfully than you did. TROLL FAIL. I'm smarter than you.

  • @catfacesilverdale

Wow,do you have a History degree too? :)

Because mrBillybob said he does and that's why he is smarter than everyone... Just like you are also smarter than everyone:)

A very successful and smart man (who believes in Trolls and Gremlins:) with a keen eye for fairytale creatures:)

Now back to the video.. Mmmm Barbs is so pretty:) .. Wish I couldve seen her Perform live? That's what id be doing with my nights, while the Jews were being forced into the Ghetto:)

  • @SpunkyMrWhite tl;dr. Troll has failed.

  • @catfacesilverdale

Also, what does "tl;dr." mean? is that an abbreviation for Doctor or is it a different language?

Cause it looks really cool ... I bet girls love a cool guy who knows lots of languages:)

  • @billybobs309 lol i take it s/he doesn't

  • I'm willing to bet that Gene Krupa took that singer home that night and showed her the real Drum Boogie! The Drummers are always getting the chicks! :)

Cool video and thanks for the up!

  • <3 the drummer at 1:42 ! ! !

  • Comment removed

  • awesome!!

  • Editor John Nolte of Big Hollywood just finished his top 50 Hollywood actresses and Barbara Stanwyck was #1.

    What a talent!!

  • i can hear rock n roll in this.

  • B.Stanwyck never looked hotter!

  • This tune had to have been hip--even Monk quoted it in his "Swing Spring" solo w/Miles and The Jazz Giants(Milt Jackson,Percy Heath,Kenny Clarke)in 1954.(Prestige)

  • my favorite gene krupa song!

  • Dam these guys could play, No sampling!!

  • They must have had some good drugs back then.. which explains why she ran back real quick for a few seconds..

  • I wanna play drums in matchboxes and be cool too :D

  • Can anyone say REEFER? Love you Gene!

  • At age six VICTOR FELDMAN was proclaimed"The Kid Krupa of sticks" read the full story on the new site: VICTOR FELDMAN.COM. and see the cool photos of Victor on drums as a kid. AMAZING!!!

  • So great stuff!!! Hope we see you all in rockabilly parties rockabillyparty.se

  • classic film about the comparison of street smarts, vs book smarts. also i feel that jojo mayer should take Krupa's spot as the drummer, but thats just me.

  • THat does it, I have to watch this film..

  • Солнечные Буги. Умереть не поднимаясь!!!!!!!!

  • Why is it that on EVERY jazz video there always has to be some prick going off on some rant about racism? If you're watching videos of great jazz musicians and all you can do is bring up racism and bitch, then here's a suggestion: DON'T WATCH THE FUCKING VIDEO! Take your bitching somewhere else and leave the rest of us to enjoy all this great music on here from great jazz musicians.

  • @ChiTown7721 shut up you paki...

  • @billybobs309 Paki? WTF is that supposed to mean?

  • @billybobs309 You're a fucking retard

  • @ChiTown7721 trolololololol...

  • @billybobs309 No, dipshit, a troll is the exact opposite. A troll is somebody who comes to a video to bitch and start shit, like the people that come here to bitch about racial issues and knock guys like Krupa instead of enjoying the video. They also conveniently forget that guys like Gene Krupa and Benny Goodman did a lot to knock down racial barriers. Benny took a big risk bringing Lionel Hampton and Teddy Wilson into his band, and did you happen to notice Roy Eldridge in here? Get it dumbass?

  • @ChiTown7721 How does this end up being a top comment? People will thumbs up anything they see... Ah well, at least I haven't subscribed to "Funny or Die". You have awful taste in comedy and music.

  • @ChiTown7721 - like Artie Shaw did with the great Billie......

  • @billybobs309 Unsuccesfull trolling is unsuccesfull........ Now quit it.

  • @beneath1111 I am smarter than you.

  • @billybobs309 I wouldn't say that. That just shows other people that you are an idiot. Telling stuff like that is a "Desperate" attempt for attention. Now let's just drop the guns down and enjoy this shall we?

  • @beneath1111 You can't reason with me, do you think you're mother theresa or something? God hates fags like you.

  • @billybobs309 Oh please, don't start with whole god thing. I just wanted to quiet down the whole conversation so we can enjoy the music. But it seems I can't. So where done yet? Besides, don't call other people for what you think is just cool for you to call them. That's just inmature.

  • @beneath1111 Well unfortunately the conversation is going to be (puts on sunglasses) 'Not So Quiet'.... My behavior may be childish but at least I know the difference between we're and where. Also how to spell immature. I'm not too sure what your last 2 sentences actually mean, but don't elaborate, grow up and move on. If you're not bothered you would have been able to just ignore me and not respond.

  • @billybobs309 Same goes for you. And besides, everyone makes spelling mistakes. No need to insult me just because I made some mistakes. Now let's keep this conversation off.

  • @beneath1111 Obviously doesn't for me. If you wanted it off you wouldn't have responded. It's on, deal with it. My blank comment is going to be a top comment soon.

  • @billybobs309 Wow, you act childish and then get pissed off for people calling you out on it, and then you spend your time giving yourself thumbs up comments, and giving thumbs down to the ones that call you out on your bullshit? Man, you are just pathetic.

  • @JandBMan312 lmao ignore him, can't you tell when you're getting trolled?

  • @JandBMan312 You're the one acting childish, not me. I'm not pissed off, I'm enjoying having a good old trolololol at your reactions. Call out me it on what? The clothed time string horse. You're pathetic for jumping in on a troll trying to defuse the situation, you cannot silence me. Who do you think you are, Ghandi? Loser.

  • @billybobs309 I'm done with you. I've said my piece and I'll leave it at that. I'm not going to let you bring me down to your level you pathetic little man.

  • @JandBMan312 "So you act childish and then you attack people when they call you out on it? Wow, you're just ridiculous. I can see from the last time I watched this video a few days ago that you're now coming back all the time to give all the other comments a thumbs down and yours a thumbs up. You're just pathetic." What happened to this comment? And why did you even try talking to me in the first place if you're going to back away as soon as you get outsmarted?

  • Comment removed

  • @billybobs309 Why the fuck is this the top comment? It's not even a comment. By the way, great tune :)

  • As erotic as it got. What a sound out of one snare, one tom, one floor tom, couple of cymbals. Then out of a box of matches. How cool is this?

  • WHAAATT THE FUCKKK!!! THAT WAS FUCKIN CRAZY RETARDED DOPE! DUDES PLAYIN THE FUCKIN MATCH BOX!! HAHAHAH gene krupa = god

  • Ahhhhhhh !!!!!!!! Big Band, this is the way to go ! Still to this day ! TeRa1320 CyberPunk Extrodinaire

  • That shot where you can see her reflection in the table is GORGEOUS.

  • "Whats boogie mean??" "ARE YOU KIDDIN!!"

  • @wwwtotalitaerde Dude what you on about?

  • she was lip singing

  • Martha Tilton did a good job making her voice sound like it could be Barbara Stanwyck singing.

  • He was a bit sexy, wasn't he?

  • Teacher**

  • The singer looks like a etcher

  • There was a singer named Delores Hawkins who appeared in the late 50's with the Gene Krupa band. Would like to see some posts of her, her songs etc.

  • i almost could'nt believe that was barbara stanwyk wow beautiful

  • Great movie! :D

  • I love it.

  • the cat is rockin' with a solid eight. I'd tell you it's ??????

I've listened to this song dozens of times but I can't figure out this lyric.

Could anyone kindly clear this up for me.

  • @sky0725 "I tell you it's Moider (murder, with a Brooklyn accent) Gate! Gate was a Swing Era nickname. It meant that you swing, like a gate going back and forth.

  • @twentiethcenturyman

    Cool, thanks.

  • Yes, you are correct in your assessment. Jews found their own places, and so did the blacks. But moving forward, where else could a real man find a hottie like BS, and dance, while following rhythm to the GK orchestra? Only in this post! THANK YOU FOR POSTING, WHOEVER YOU ARE!!!

  • oh a i really enjoy this song, at all times... gene krupa was a awesome drum player!!!

  • Campy, but GK is awesome.

  • Campy
