  • Will be buying thanks for the info

  • I put a steel one in mine not for any other reason except I could. It is not essential and has no bearing on anything except preference and looks. The whole steel/polymer which one is stronger is a no brainer.Anyone see polymer bridges? Nope steel and concrete.Polymer does it's job and steel does too, they both have faults as proven in the S&W model 4006 pistol. The CHP had problems with frame cracks in almost every single pistol the dept. used until they went to the 4006TSW.Have the write-up.

  • How did the gun shoot? Sorry!!

  • So how did the gunshot? I'm assuming it was as reliable as the plastic ? No jams??

  • @dre182923 It shot reliable. Flawless with steel

  • I might be wrong because I don't know...I'm only guessing here, but why change the guide rod as if they are not reliable? I see no problem with a plastic guide rod. If it was a problem, the gun makers wouldn't use them.

  • i'm starting to wonder if these do more harm than good. my sig pro 2340 has countless rounds thru it and the factory guide rod looks new. ive seen documented cases of steel guide rods causing damage to frames and barrel lugs on glocks and sigs both. i think i'll just keep my polymer. its working quite well.

  • there is nothing wrong with the guide rod, certain polymers are actually stronger than steel. plus I don't think that sig is gona put crap in there weapons especially seeing that this weapon is getting military and police contracts.

  • @benkerr69 I never said there was anything wrong a with the polymer guide rod. I love sigs and I never said they are putting crap in there guns. This video is simply to show a simple upgrade for though out there who like steel parts instead of polymer.

  • @benkerr69 The Polymer Guide Rod is quite flexible, and could tend to flex under compression, and more so as heat builds up in the Barrel, and the Guide Rod tends to soften. Under normal use it probably does fine. But under sustained fire, why take a chance. Murphy's Law still works! Even if it is a sense of comport, it couldn't hurt.

  • I agree with Godncountry. Unless you can come up with proof in the way of studies done about steel or titanium guide rods being more "durable" than polymer, it's best to just consider them a personal choice, imo. I'd rather spend $25.00 on ammo. Nice gun, nice review.

  • @JamesGSorr Steel is tougher/stronger then polymer. It really comes down to personal preferance. Steel guide rod also add a little extra weight to the muzzle. Reducing muzzle flip.

  • There are glocks with documented 50 thousand rounds in them on all original parts including polymer guide rod.

  • @GodnCountry65 Thats mainly because Glocks are excellent all around pistols. Steel is stronger/tougher then polymer. For example 1911 style pistols for been using steel guide rods for over 100 years. Beretta M9 steel Rod both the military sidearm choices. I'm not saying Polymer guide rods suck. Just doing a minor upgrade to a steel rod is a great idea.

  • @GodnCountry65 The French Police put 400,000 rounds through the Sig Pro before they adopted it, and the Navy Seals, and US Army have adopted the Sig Pro 2022 for the Tank Corps. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me!

  • Does polishing cause any rusting that u have noticed? The blu finish and the black used to color the gun is to prevent rusting. Just wondering as certain parts will wear and probably be better off polished.

  • @tone319 If you do any polishing work you want to make sure you keep the area well oiled with ballistol or CLP.

  • @tone319 The Sig Pro has a Parkerised Stainless Steel Slide, and Polymer Reciever, It doesn't rust.

  • @frttrn1 actually thats incorrect. parkerizing doesn't stop a gun from rusting, its just a finish. you still need to keep it oiled. if you carry a gun and sweat on it, trust me, it will rust, i dont care who made it. Tenifer, thats on glocks, however is not the same, that really does stop metal from rusting.

  • What is the advantage of the stainless vs polymer guide rod?

  • @masm60 More durable and it adds a little bit of weight to the front barrel reducing muzzle flip

  • Nice man. I got mine and am thinking about polishing the front of the barrel. You going to do yours?

  • @hefedehefe Yea I polished just the tip of the barrel. So it will match the polished guide rod

  • @prchico520 cool man, I'm thinking about doing it too. Got any pics of how it looks?

  • @prchico520 im pretty sure the amount of weight this metal guide rod adds is negligible. and i really dont see it stopping "muzzle flip" sounds like your just tryin to convince yourself that you didnt waste 25 dollars. lol

  • @prchico520 and if anything the gun would recoil harder with the metal guide rod because it has that pad on the end of the rod that the slide hits as it cycles back. if it has the polymer to hit than it will cushion some of that recoil. with the stainless one its just a metal slide hitting a metal guide rod. not tryin to be rude or anything, just tryin to explain myself lol.

  • I just bought one of these. I'm trying to find a 9mm conversion barrel. Anyone know where I can get one?

  • @hefedehefe check top gun supply they might have something

  • @prchico520 I tried them. I guess nobody makes the conversion barrel : / only to 357 sig

  • @prchico520 I found some, They are ported 9mm conversion barrels that were produced by fire dragon and discontinued. The guy I am getting mine from said he bought out the last batch :D

  • @hefedehefe Cool man. Glad you found one

  • Thanks

  • Hi how and what did you use when you polished it.. I just bought this pistol nice video thanks

  • @dougdemasi Dermal Tool with a sanding bit. Then put on a polishing wheel and use flitz.
