What a brilliant political speaker Nigel Farage is. As an Australian with strong British (mainly Scottish and English) ancestry I have less chance of migrating back and getting benefits in Britain than people in Eastern Europe or even Germany. Ironic seeing as much of my Australian ancestry fought alongside Britain every day of both World Wars. I have countless generations of ancestors buried in Britain and through no fault of my own treated more foreign than a German.

If (rather When) the UK faces financial catastrophe at the hands of the speculators and financiers in future, several things will happen.
1: the financiers will demand the be wholly, and 100% bailed out by the public
2: The UK will ask foreign zones to assist in this bailout
3: The EU will ask for certain guarantees regarding what the money is used for. And on failing to give such assurances, they will veto any bailout option the IMF puts to us.

When all is said and done the UK is a net contributor to the EU and runs a balance of trade deficit with it. The City of London is crucial to the UK economy. When all the dust has settled the potential losers from all this may turn out to be the French and Germans. THe mistake may well be not accommodating reasonable requests.
