It is such a sad thing that Ms. Whitney Houston has lost her voice. I truly don't know what happend to her voice, but sometimes we can loose out by being over confident in ourselves and not God. technically it's not a fair competition because Whitney got about 20 years experience on Jennifer, therefore she should be better and more equipped to deliver a song, but you can't take anything from Jen. Whitney sings at higher octaves, and that is easily heard in this comparison. Before she lost her voice, Whitney, without a doubt, was the best high-octave singing voice out there.

they r great!! both have something in common but very different indeed. whitney was more popratic ( pop melismatic) while j.hudson pop dramatic voice. at the end, one things for sure, Celine n mariah will not hide, cause surely they got somehing these ladies don't. (btw celine has more belting power)

I am Telling You is now Jennifer's song. Her voice is richer (emotional) than Whitney's. Absolute genius by Jennifer Hudson. Whitney has those gorgeous, high and pure notes and impeccible stage presence on the first song, and there she is better than (an amazingly! great) Jennifer.

OK now Whitney has a great sound to her voice and sings in a lower key and has better reverb and eq on her voice. Whitney is a little off on pitch here and there. Jennifer sing a little higher than Whitney and is more on. Not eq and reverbed like Whitney . But they are both welcome in my studio.

But before whitney could blow the socks off this song but that stuff messed up her vocals. she just dont sound the same. listen to one of her old tracks and listen to it then play one of her recent songs......its a major difference.

While Jennifer has a beautiful voice - there is NO voice that tops Whitney at her prime. I'm not talking about range but resonance, timbre, and depth of the actual voice. And she just tossed it away on drugs. But, again, no female; Aretha, Chaka, Celine, Barbara, Mariah, Christina - none have the vocal package like Whitney did. I remember Mariah's comments about being tired of folks thinking it was W.H. singing when it was her. Then came Prince of Egypt - W.H. blew her away.

have you SEEN Ms. Hudson lately? Wow! She's had her share of misery and she was a CHILD when Whitney was at the peak of her vocal powers. Also, I am not certain, but I think that Whitney's key is lower than Jennifer's. Two women with immense vocal power: one succumbed to drugs due to the insane influence of her husband and the other overcame the murders of her family to emerge victorious on the other side. A sad, sad tragedy for the loss of Whitney's voice is not reversible.

i love them both.whitney is just that "it" factor.but at the same time i love jennifer's voice as well.Jennifer has all the power she just has a little more sweetness to her voice.and also @TheAnaVlora whitney houston is a soprano and so is jennifer hudson..A mezzo-soprano could have hit the notes that jennifer sings but it would have been a strain. Jennifer's voice has a warmth to it so its gonna sound like she is singing lower, but test it to the piano, and you will c that she is THE TRUTH lol

These two singers are incredible in their own rights, but they should not be compared with each other due to their distinct vocal range: Whitney is/was a soprano, whereas Jennifer is a mezzo-soprano. Whitney sings at higher octaves, and that is easily heard in this comparison. Before she lost her voice, Whitney, without a doubt, was the best high-octave singing voice out there.
