Fortunately human beings have the ability to use intuition and reason to come to (yes) theoretical conclusions to some problems. In all probability, given the physical pieces of the puzzle we have collected, evolution happens. We know it's possible because it's been observed. We don't need math to know many things, an example being: If I don't drink water I dehydrate, and die.

The idea that evolution occurred due to random mutations is nonsensical as far as I'm concerned though. The Pyramids were not created by wind storms. Organic life, constructs infinitely more complex than the pyramids, were not created in that way either.

Evolution does occur, but its with a focussed intent to adapt, its not random.

What makes that theory nonsensicle to me is that an organism can't will itself to grow longer arms to reach the food on the higher branch when all the food on the lower branch is eaten. It makes more sense that a random mutation happens giving longer arms by accident, and thus fuels survival of the fittest, and natural selection comes in to play. The more adept hunters prevail but they become more adept by chance, and pass on their genes.
