You sing that song beautifully! I was very fortunate to see Jim Byrnes play this in Calgary. It was at the "Fathers and Sons" concert with Amos Garrett,Steve Dawson and Doug Cox.

The song has an amazing emotional punch.

Isn't it a great song that Justin Rutledge wrote. If you get a chance to hear him singing it, I recommend it. Also, Jim Byrnes.....does a great job.

I think this is a really great song as well! Glad you liked it. Justin Rutledge has some great songs. He plays guitar tastefully, has a great voice and his lyrics are poetry.

Shirley, this song suits your voice so well! You have such a lovely tone... and your interpretation of this song has the same feel that so many of our Appalachian singers give to music...it's called the high lonesome and it's probably the sound I most love to hear ... :) Jimmie Dale Gilmore does it better than anybody I know.
