This was an important factor that lead Sinn Fein to give up the fight and become a legit political force in Northern Ireland.
When was this? The only referendum in Northern Ireland on unification was boycotted by nationalists in Northern Ireland, unless you are taking about the Belfast Agreement which had nothing to do with unification.

Perhaps not, but it seems that the movers and shakers of today's Jihadists mirror fundamentalist Christians in the belief that anything that feels good and is fun should be prohibited (Except abuse of women and domination of non-Muslims). Today's Jihadists seem to be as far from the original teachings of Mohammed as most Christians are from the teaching of Christ. I'm half Irish, my grandfather served in the Royal Navy Submarine Service in WW2 and was awarded the DSM & Bar, his twin brother the same. Anglo-Irish relations have come along way since the Troubles and my grandfather said he was always proud to of done his bit for "King and Country".....his words. Being Irish never mattered to anyone.

They did remain neutral but like I said before it was more a hindrance than anything else. And even today a lot still support the killings of British soldiers

I'll tell you why, because in the end, British survival meant continud Irish survival AND standing upto Hitler was the right thing to do. If you had a sense of right and wrong or some sense of descency you would know that.

Why does Bryn Terfel wear the republican colours. The Republic of Ireland is a completely different country to Britain. (I'm not Irish, I'm British. My parents are from Dublin though.) I know most Irish people might find that offensive whilst wearing clothing that represents Britannia.

I don't think that necessarily conveys the notion that Ireland should belong to Britain. In the crowd scenes, at least one person is waving an Irish tricolor. There are also German and Vatican flags visible. No sane person ever considered these countries to be part of Britain.

He is representing the citizens of Northern Ireland who wish for the rightful unification of Ireland. It's a recognition that these people are too members of our country and we should respect them so.

@jimbobjimminy In case you missed a very important referendum in the Republic of Ireland a few years ago, the vast majority of the population voted against unification of the isle. This was an important factor that lead Sinn Fein to give up the fight and become a legit political force in Northern Ireland.

It was not the Africans who built the majestic architecture that we see still standing in our great land, it was the blood sweat and toil of our ancestors. They were the inventors, the scientists, the engineers, the builders etc. What history do Africans have in this land that could justify them being called "ethnically British" They fought in the commonwealth only because they were conqured and had to!
