  • I Cant wait until the people stand up to Islam and smash that Cult out of this land, Colour means nothing but ideology does, and Islam is Militant and Anti Democratic value

  • @windyworm Also, I wouldn't be naive enough to imply that we were always in Ireland! But our original population was the first to settle here, a long time before we were occupied by the british. I know Dublin was founded by the vikings, so what? And Irish origins besides being Celtic, have a heavy influence from the north-west of Spain and a small influence from what is now Iran. As I have stated, I have no problem with you celebrating your culture. Leave mine out of it :)

  • @windyworm As you will see, I have acknowledged that we share cultural and racial heritage by geographical proximity, and I'm fine with that. You can see, even in the media, that when british citizens are referred to in any news story etc, they are called britons. What I'm trying to say is, I dont want my country which britain (mainly facilitated by england) terrorised in the past to be associated with "Imperial Glory" or a non democratically elected head of state (Elizabeth II).

  • Britannia rule the waves? I wish. Today the muslims rule Britain's streets. It is so sad to see what has become of the empire.

  • @princeeugen LOL?... yeah.. the fact the UK is 92% white doesn't mean anything I guess. Take your paranoia somewhere.

  • @MsAlternativexxx Exactly, people are stupid.

  • @beechey145 Exactly, I can't stand talking to people about this 'assimilation' and 'immigrants are out breeding us' bullshit. The population of white people in the UK and Europe have been going up and down for the last 1000 years. If you really want to get technical, there's no such thing as a 100% 'White' or 'Asian'. We're all part African. An irrefutable fact. I just laugh at Racists/Nationalists instead of hating them now. Hitler had black and Jewish ancestry. :)

  • @princeeugen If you dont like it your free to fuck off somewhere else.

  • Learn some history, the capital of Ireland, Dublin was founded by the Vikings. The Irish are a mixture of Celts and Norse. Incidentally the Scotties were Irish mercenaries sent to Scotland. Before you dissociate yourself from the Britons (The Welsh) learn some history.

  • @windyworm actually the scots were picts that mixed with some irish and vikings :\

  • @sabaton12341 A show of respect for the imperial past? The same empire that murdered, raped and terrorised it's way across the world? We share cultural and racial heritage yes, by the pure nature of our land masses being as close as they are. But it ends there. The tricolour represents Eire post "empire"! Glorify great britain all you want, but leave Eire out of it. I have no problem with Britons wanting to celebrate their culture. But the Irish are not Britons :).

  • This should be Britain's National Anthem. Thumbs up if you agree.

  • This fills me with such hereditary pride.

  • He has an Irish tricolour on his right sleeve, Well f**k that, we are not part of "Brittania", never were or considered OURSELVES to be. Typical Brit (Mainly English) view, ignorant to the max....

  • @FooCork20 really? or a show of respect for the imperial past, cultural and racial heritage we both share. or a sign of disrespect? how? its a song glorifying great britain. whats bad about that?

  • Best singer the last ten years

  • What a stirring rendition!! He is the greatest singing a tribute to what was the the greatest empire ever, yea Britain.

  • A Phrydain gododd ar alwad nef

A chodi fu o'r tonnau câs

Hwn oedd y siarter, y siarter drwy'r holl wlad,

A hon yw cân yr engyl glan.

  • @Xozny rheol Britannia!

  • @DwinHoffiCymru Ydyn nhw’n canu yr ymatal yn gymraeg? beth ydyn nhw’n canu? dwi ddim yn siarad cymraeg yn dda...

  • I have looked at a map, and still can not understand why the English are in Ireland, and for that matter i cant not understand why they are in Wales, Scotland, Gibraltar, The Flaklands, etc.

Ever here of the Penal laws?

Catholics were not allowed to own land

What about Cromwells mass murder of Catholic priests?

Well then how do ypu express ideals?

  • @bbass67 Pipe down.

  • why is the tricolor in his jacket

  • @bbass67 Northern Ireland is part of the U.K.

  • @temporaldisplacement there is no such thing as "Northern Ireland". Perhaps you mean 6 of the 9 counties of ulster that are under occupation by a foreign barbaric regime?

  • @bbass67 Ahh a republican ....nice. Going to attack your fellow islanders for wishing to be a part of the union? Occupation? How absurd. Your right, we should take down the irish flag from presentation throughout the land; how silly of us for thinking the denizens of N.Ireland would want representation .....honestly. :\

  • @temporaldisplacement haha Can you just answer this one question "what right do the British have in Ireland?" Perhaps the English feel as though it is their moral duty to destroy Catholicism in Ireland, maybe they just want to silence irish gaelige, or maybe they just want to exterminate the Iirish race

  • @bbass67

    - "what right do the British have in Ireland?" Perhaps you should return to your geography teacher as it seems to are intent on setting sail.

    - 'destroy Catholicism in Ireland' Thats a rather antiquated idea. How so?

    - 'silence irish gaelige' Don't be absurd, culture is the bed-rock of idealism and ideals make us human.

    - 'exterminate the Iirish race' Can't say I've met them but they sound delightful.

  • @bbass67 silence gaelige? LOL i love Ireland and irish language but northern ireland is BRITISH, I also thing that gaelige should be teached in schools of NI compulsory, and NI continues being british.

  • Nobody told me Ed Balls was an opera singer....

  • @HabboMet I thought the same thing.

  • Why would there be an Irish Flag on his Right sleeve?

  • @holmesbinton N.Ireland is part of the U.K. Although someone [bbass67] here obviously wants bombs going off and irishmen and mainland brit's to start being killed all over again because of his national-butt-hurt-istic ideals.

  • @temporaldisplacement, I Thought Northern Ireland Has the Flag of Ulster or Something.. I guess the Cross of St. Patrick is No Longer used anymore? :/

  • @holmesbinton I think its just a way of being ultra nice. No harm done in my eyes.

  • @temporaldisplacement, Well it is Called the British Isles, right? lol

  • @holmesbinton Exactly.

  • They missed off 2verses. I think its better sang by a man!

  • Great. Great. Great!!!!

  • Handsome Bear =P

  • Hmm... It's quality entertainment watching you both fuckin up each other , Take this from me :- The United Kingdom will recover from all it's troubles & restore it's Glory .

    U can't do a shit about that !!!!

  • @bharsha91

    You mean Great Britain?

  • The German are kind of weird, they're not even part of the commonwealth.

  • @614jdub That's not what it's all about, it's a case of enjoying and perhaps having an admiration for such. But there's another possibility, the Germans are the true Angels and Saxons who were predominantly the foundational heritage of the English in the first place. So as for the Germans, this is where they have something to be very proud of and I know many are.

Why do you think the British especially those of British heritage are called Anglo Saxons.

That's what I am, and proud of it.

  • luv his coat!

  • Your childrens, children will be slaves to Islam if you sheep don't wake up.

  • @theschizoid1 and their children will be atheists.

  • @Simgenx Nature abhors a vacuum.

  • @Simgenx Let us hope more people turn to atheism, would be great for humanity if they did!

  • @theschizoid1 : Islam shall never ever ever take over Her Majesty's Kingdom . U see they won't last long , they'r rotting pigs , their rein & terror will end as soon as the last drop of crude is sucked out of arabia . And then Brittania Shall rise . Rule Brittania !!!

  • @bharsha91 The sooner the better!

  • @bharsha91 You BNP shitheads should really just fuck off and die.

    And I'm white, FYI.

  • @bharsha91 shut up fuck britania empire that was now americas watch dog ass whole hush doggie

  • @ ModelMeister

Because a lot of Germans enjoy the Prom concerts during the season, and some of them have the luck to take part at the last night and bring their flag. It's not about nationalism, it's all about great music and artists.

  • why is there a german flag displayed? within the crowds?

  • That's wjhat I'm talking about!

  • like a bauss

  • nice song.- Bryn great as ever, but FREEDOM FIRST!

  • Such a fabulously ridiculous coat.

  • @ConcentricEccentric It´s Welsh flag, you know

  • @adrianabelgauna It puts the "United" in United Kingdom. >_O (And yes, yes it is. =)

  • Fantastic. I just wish I could understand what he says in the middle (it's difficult if you aren't native, which I'm not)

  • @themetsfan861 One verse and one chorus of it is sung in the Welsh language, so I'm sure you can be forgiven for not quite getting it!

  • Gross Britannia......

  • sarah conelly was the best

  • The welsh one's are deffo the best... They sing with a welsh heart - something that cant be achieved - you are born with it... Please listen to my little welsh songbird 'Lauren Woodward' singing 'Calon Lan' or Castle on a Cloud etc, please comment with absolute honesty, just be gentle with us. Lolxx

  • Rule Britannia.

    Britannia rule the waves.

Britons never, never never, shall be slaves!

  • does apear to be a good one and a half....

  • Britain means Covenant People. Britain will always be Ephraim blessed with the Monarch. Godspeed Britain in this new generation.

  • First Lord of the Admiralty1 I'm glad to hear you don't have Sharia in Britain. Perhaps over hear we have been mislead by all the pictures in our news media of some of your residents screaming in the streets, showing their tonsils and rotten teeth. Rule Britainia! (but just not over here). I've got a lot of British blood in me and I have always admired Britain, especially your professional soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Our countries must always retain the rights first laid forth at Runnymede.

  • RULE BRITANNIA!!

  • @tannenberg: just fuck off. Nobody gives a fuck about your opinions. Go waste your life trolling for a debate somewhere else.

    Rule Britannia!

  • going to brittain in july :D

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 hope you enjoy it here!

  • @Alroight now is confirmed :D i will try to look for some work when i will be here because my intention is move to britain :)

  • @Alroight just a question, why Bryn wears the irish flag together with flags of other three constituent countries instead of the northern irish one?

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 makes for a more interesting colour scheme

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 There are a number of flags representing northen Ireland, so which one could he have used?

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 There are a number of flags representing northern Ireland so which one could he have used?

  • i got an earworm :)

    greetings from germany

  • Perhaps not, but it seems that the movers and shakers of today's Jihadists mirror fundamentalist Christians in the belief that anything that feels good and is fun should be prohibited (Except abuse of women and domination of non-Muslims). Today's Jihadists seem to be as far from the original teachings of Mohammed as most Christians are from the teaching of Christ. Christians and Muslims both pick and choose snatches of scripture or individual suras to further their own agendas.

  • Actually, traditional sharia would not have any fundamental principles against singing this song under a sharia rule.

  • @TFreckle to them it represents Christian imperialism, to us it represents patriotism. yes there would be a problem.

  • Do you think the imams will allow Britons to sing such songs under Sharia?

  • @Tannenberg71410 We don't have Sharia law in Britain so its not up to imams their opinions is null it means nothing

  • They play "Rule Britania" and someone in the audience are waving the german flag?

  • @leopianotuner for the royal family, they are German lol

  • Something tells me that this guy is Welsh...

  • @NottinghamForest22 thats one of the good things of your awesome country the UK, wales :D

  • @NottinghamForest22 and british but LOL good comment xD you make me laugh.

  • @NottinghamForest22 I think after 2:38 he must cease to use English, either that or he has just had a very buttery jam tart....

  • @limefrog77 Welsh is an official language of Great Britain, and Welsh is the first language of Bryn Terfel, English is his second language.

  • @limefrog77 He sings that verse in Welsh, his first language.

  • @ScramaVadoosh i knew it was Cymraeg, it was a reply to someone else lol, in the sense it should be obvious its not english, and the man is welsh, and welsh is as british as english. :)

  • @NottinghamForest22 Nope! Wales just threw up on him..

  • Why does he have a tri colour on his arm? The Irish h8 the Brits and never done anything to help our great empire. If anything they where a hinderance during the war as they helped out the germans

  • @SuperJelavic

Some Irish hate us others have gotten over history.

  • @SuperJelavic You realise that you're speaking utter shite right? Do you have any idea about the thousands of Irish fought WILLINGLY in the British Armed Forces. I'm half Irish, my grandfather served in the Royal Navy Submarine Service in WW2 and was awarded the DSM & Bar, his twin brother the same. Anglo-Irish relations have come along way since the Troubles and my grandfather said he was always proud to of done his bit for "King and Country".....his words. Being Irish never mattered to anyone.

  • @Dippers85 Your grandfather would not have been welcomed back FACT. The IRA declared war on the UK in 1939 FACT. The Irish Let the Nazi's plan attacks freely from the Irish state FACT. They did remain neutral but like I said before it was more a hindrance than anything else. And even today a lot still support the killings of British soldiers

  • @SuperJelavic Goes to show how little you know. I feel sorry for you Jelavic.

  • @Dippers85 please tell me whats is false from what I said? its the truth.

  • @SuperJelavic A number of things. Why would thousands of Irish willingly serve to fight for the British? I'll tell you why, because in the end, British survival meant continud Irish survival AND standing upto Hitler was the right thing to do. If you had a sense of right and wrong or some sense of descency you would know that.

Anglo-Irish relations have come too far to have a narrow minded bigot like yourself prattling on about how much all Irish hate the British or vice versa. What crap.

  • @SuperJelavic On the contrary, a great many Irishmen, from both sides of the border, have served and died in the British armed services. We should all be grateful to them. Yes, some Irish hate the English and with good cause, but not all.

  • @ScramaVadoosh I take your point that a minority ROI residents fought for Britain but there is also a lot who have killed British soldiers and continue to do so and glorify it. And how you can say the Irish have good cause to hate England is a sensationalist comment. Check your history on the battle of the boyne 1690 and realise the British have a lot to dislike Ireland over but that's in the past and we have let go but the Irish simply cannot follow suit. Brittania rules the waves

  • @SuperJelavic Not sensationalist, just simple historical fact. Your reference to the Battle of the Boyne and the lack of knowledge you show indicates that you need to read some more. The English have invaded Ireland numerous times. The Irish have never invaded England. Perhaps when people like you understand why we, the English, are detested by the Irish, Scots and Welsh, there might be less animosity.

  • @ScramaVadoosh The Irish supports terrorists. Terrorists kill innocent people. I know this is a minority but the hate in Ireland still exists because they cant let go of the past. I am Scottish not English but I don't hold onto any of the horrific things your ancestors done to mine. We are in a changed world now and maybe the Irish could take my lead. Also a proud Brit

  • @SuperJelavic are you a rangers fan?

  • @dan11009 yes

  • @SuperJelavic not the least because many in today's England don't even have English ancestors. Are you sure that your ancestors were all living in Scotland? How far do you have to go back in time to finally find a non-Scottish ancestor? Do you draw a line there? If so why?

  • @sondano what you talking about willis?

  • Love this! (and I'm American. :-) ) What a Rousing song full of hope and courage.

I have great respect for your country and its long history. Not to mention I have several great British friends living there. So from "this side of the pond" Cheerio!

  • Why does Bryn Terfel wear the republican colours. The Republic of Ireland is a completely different country to Britain. (I'm not Irish, I'm British. My parents are from Dublin though.) I know most Irish people might find that offensive whilst wearing clothing that represents Britannia.

  • @ThePatrickUK He probably does so because he has two arms. If he had only one arm, he wouldn't have to worry what to wear on the other sleeve. I don't think that necessarily conveys the notion that Ireland should belong to Britain. In the crowd scenes, at least one person is waving an Irish tricolor. There are also German and Vatican flags visible. No sane person ever considered these countries to be part of Britain.

  • Oh the suit...

  • Bravo my roasts-beef friends, that's really superb !

    From France.

  • @MsrBernadotte no problem my baguette wielding onion muncher. always a pleasure. :)

  • cachu go iawn.

  • chorus must crunch you...but here it is very weak

  • Just simply awesome and powerful song!!!

  • This is super concert

  • Impressive song...

    Greetings from Germany

  • Can someone help me? I'm trying to learn this arrangement of Rule Britannia, but I cannot find the lyrics to his last verse.

  • @xtremekaizer

Do you mean the verse he sings in Welsh?

A Phrydain gododd ar alwad nef

A chodi fu o'r tonnau câs

Hwn oedd y siarter, y siarter drwy'r holl wlad,

A hon yw cân yr engyl glan.

Most non-speakers find Welsh very difficult to read and speak in the correct way though, but I'm sure you can work it out!

  • Bryn Terfel is fantastic at singling this. The way he sings in English and Welsh is pure talent!

Shame Britain's becoming a mere province of the EU nowadays. Still my new videos might help.

Take a look! Any support will be greatly appreciated.

  • Mi welais i o'n siopa yn M&S Bwyd, Bangor, gogledd Cymru yr wythnos diwethaf...

I saw him shopping at M&S Food, Bangor, north Wales last week...

  • love his outfit brilliant

  • it's shall be slaves God dammit!

  • its not a British event anymore.....its now a 'world' event which SUCKS! Look at all those non British flags etc?! (Not including the home nation flags!) Its gone really downhill! BAN NON BRITISH FLAGS!!!!!!!

  • @dazzini82 I disagree : I think it (The Last Night) a celebration of a Great British Tradition, which is inclusive. A proud British event which others can enjoy too.

  • the bastard didnt even wear the northern ireland flag and he wore the tri colour the swine bastard

  • @krautkiller1969 realist, and you can trust me im not glad. I was few times in UK and it was very sad look for me.

  • is it in Welsh??

  • @martinmaine1990 it is a part that is in Welsh, yes its that:

A Phrydain gododd ar alwad nef

A chodi fu o'r tonnau câs

Hwn oedd y siarter, y siarter drwy'r holl wlad,

A hon yw cân yr engyl glan.

  • Bryn Terfel is cool! xD

  • Rule Britannia or Rule Britannistan?:o)

  • @TheOriginalBudweiser The second one: Rule those who are winning over the Britain with a single shot

  • I like 'We'll keep a welcome' better ;)

  • I like 'We'll keep a welcome' better ;)

  • Lovely nostalgia. All you need is a dose of suspended disbelief and go with the flow of the narrow-minded nationalistic text and heroicly militaristic music and feel a strange sense of pride and belonging wash over you. When you suspend your cool intellect, this can be very enticing stuff. I love it ;)

  • Comment removed

  • I'm glad he has a tricolour on his sleve.

He is representing the citizens of Northern Ireland who wish for the rightful unification of Ireland. It's a recognition that these people are too members of our country and we should respect them so.

    Don't make everything so political.

  • @jimbobjimminy In case you missed a very important referendum in the Republic of Ireland a few years ago, the vast majority of the population voted against unification of the isle. This was an important factor that lead Sinn Fein to give up the fight and become a legit political force in Northern Ireland.

  • @LemmingOverlord

When was this? The only referendum in Northern Ireland on unification was boycotted by nationalists in Northern Ireland, unless you are taking about the Belfast Agreement which had nothing to do with unification.

  • @Temporum91 um...Rome?

  • @CYMRUTUBE2 Who cares ?

  • @DRUMlufc the Welsh?

  • @gilesderoet They took our Jobs !!

  • The only thing I dislike more about this video more than the singing is the pompos pratts in the audience

  • Just an opinion , but we need to stick the Dragon on the Top-Left to fully include the British Tribes !

  • @nesossin I know certain groups use it in Northern Ireland, but I highly doubt that they would want someone to sing Rule Britannia while using the flag

  • I think is the worst verion of this song I have ever heard song without feeling or anything else he realy should be ashamed of himself

  • from the Basque Country all the best to the British people, scots, irish, welsh, english. Your green island is a beacon of democracy and culture for many Basques who only dream of one day living as an independent nation with a British style democracy

    RULE BRITANNIA

    FREEDOM FOR THE BASQUE COUNTRY

    EUSKAL HERRIA ASKATU

  • @sarribel Dude i am Catalan and i thing exactly the same :)

    Rule Britannia

    Visca Catalunya Lliure

and in fact your nation reminds me to Britain sometimes :) ( not only by the flag)

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 Do us a favour...don't use retarded yankish vernaclular like 'Dude' or 'Duche'.

  • @TheFatalInstinct1 ok, what's the british word? in fact i like more UK than USA they are so self-centered.

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 I'm sorry you see "us Americans" in such a light. Truthfully, some of us are that, but on the whole, there are many who aren't.

  • Brilliant version.

But why does he have an Irish tricolour on his sleeve ?

  • @Jelle1880 One of several flags used by different groups in Northern Ireland, more info on wikipedia, search for Northern Ireland flags issue

  • or rate my comment if you like or not, i love how in the video , feel scottish or welsh is being proud of being british¡¡¡

  • I love Britain, i am Catalan and i want the separation of spain, but i not want the UK to broke up , but what's the difference to the UK and Catalonia?

1- You british are a democratic nation, spain , is a fucking pseudo-democracy

2- Altought i dont have the same opinion, i think that the people of scotland, wales, england ( if someone wants to split), and NI, can have to decide if they want to separate.

3-UK has something special that no other country in the world have, please reply

  • i love the bit in welsh.

  • @daralzand

which bit is in Welsh, I didn't catch it? If you know it then what are the lyrics too??

  • @danclay530 at around 2:35

  • I just love how people from countries that have been raped and arrogantly ruled by England are waving their flags to a hymn that underlines England's past cruelty. That doesn't really make any sense...

  • @DanyNicola We rise above all that and just sing. We may be Welsh but we are also British. The English are now are friends.

  • @DanyNicola countries like scotland, which invaded england first, murdering all men, raping all women, burning all villages and taking all children as slaves until they met an army at northallerton? (king david 1. first war between england and scotchland.)

read up on a bit of history. both sides were brutal - it was the medieval era ffs. england just won.

  • @DanyNicola you must be mad. More scots died by the hand of other scots. just like the rest of england. IT DIDNT MATTER WHICH BOARDER YOU WERE ON . BOARDERS WERE FOR NOBLES ENGLISH WELSH SCOTTISH ALIKE WHO OWNED LAND. THE REST OF US BRITS MADE IT HAPPEN.

  • It's nice to be able to be slightly patriotic without thinking about the likes of the BNP, who are so full of hate that they've now resorted to imitating other main parties in order to sneak into power, creepy little piggies that they are. They don't even know their own bloody history, the amount of black, asian and african people that fought and died for the Commonwealth and have the same rights to live here as you or me should be considered British. Being British isn't the colour of your skin

  • No being British isn't about the colour of the skin, it is about your ethnic makeup! It was not the Africans who built the majestic architecture that we see still standing in our great land, it was the blood sweat and toil of our ancestors. They were the inventors, the scientists, the engineers, the builders etc. What history do Africans have in this land that could justify them being called "ethnically British" They fought in the commonwealth only because they were conqured and had to!

  • why fly a german flag to this?

  • @BertAtkinson91 Because people from all over the world like to join in. I know quite a few Germans and French that come, it maybe a celebration about Britain but ALL flags and people are welcome to celebrate. The Rep.Ireland isn't a part of the UK anymore, yet this singer still has the tri-colour on his right sleeve.

  • @grobo11 yeah but maybe some has the idea of this as the flag of the constiuent country of northern ireland, personally i will make one for northern ireland like that but with the ulster coat on it :)

  • @breizhcatalonia1993 WHy don't you try this? It's a suggestion for a new and official flag of Northern Ireland.

(I'll send the link through pm)
