my dad was in this race. he's in the car that gets shoved into the wall and launched in the air at about 0:23 (John Pew). he was in the hospital for a day or so, but the guy his car landed on was in a wheel chair for quite some time because of it. my dad's moved onto American LeMans now though.

If you watched any of the Canadian Grand Prix weekend this year, you will have noticed that the tire wall on the outside of that turn was replaced by a steel barrier (I'm unsure whether it was a standard armco barrier or a SAFER barrier) on the track's edge, in order to prevent a car rebounding onto the track and sparking an accident such as this again.
