  • Best Phone Ever!!

  • Hi VodafonUK

I am from Macedonia , I have HTC Magic witch works on 1.6 Android.

I am looking for ' Google Search by Voice' app but I can't find it in the market. All the apps in the it shows that are free. In my google market have only free apps, so is it due to the network ? Can you help me to find other apps?

    Thank you

    Toshe

  • AndWobble,Android system info and opera mini is some other good apps to;-)

  • To everyone who CANT find BEEBPLAYER

I am living outside of the UK and no doubt the people who cant find this app are as well. Due to British TV licensing restrictions you can not use the BBC iPlayer outside of the UK so dont bother searching because it will never work.

  • Classic! Strapping Young Lad article of the day on Wikidroid!

  • i can only find free apps in my market, how can i find apps which cost money?

  • I cant find BeebPlayer.

  • Getting a HTC desire in a few days. Will definitely look at some of these apps :D

  • Try the Tricorder App! Detects Gravity, Wi-Fi, Radio, Any Electro-Magnetic Field!

  • Hmm.... How does the Metal Dector app work?

  • @2000pcman Maby the compass?

  • @2000pcman It uses the compass to detect differences in the magnetic field around the phone

  • lol xD

I don't have my android phone yet bro

  • are these apps free?

  • Hero has a 3.5" headphone jack, more memory & looks awesome among other things. Sprint here in the bay area is great so far. Comes w/ their GPS navigation app which I tested out yesterday & works pretty good.

  • Listen to yourself... "bay area" hahaha, you say out to the owrld "here in the bay area"... 94% of the world doesnt know what place you are talking about! I only know what youre talking about because i listen to Too short, 2pac, spice 1, seagram and all of those artists from that area...

  • is the MAGIC better than the HERO? do they both run the same version software?

    thanks

  • magic on slowest crappiest network vs hero on largest fastest network.

not to mention the magic has probably the most annoying commercial ive ever seen

  • hero better its has the same android software but it has a new sence UI from htc thats lets customize your phone with no limitations

  • cant find the "BeebPlayer" - no results oO

  • BTW. if anyone is wondering how the metal detector works, I assume that metal disrupts the compass???

  • i got most of these

  • oh, also, was wondering if the apps on this video were all free? some of them would be quite helpful for school, ad others are just plain cool :)

  • Hi Eternal,

As of this moment in time, all the applications featured in this video are available free of charge via the Android Marketplace.

I've actually got a Magic myself and can vouch for the awesomeness of some of these - I've used Shazam, BBC iPlayer and Shop Savvy, all of which are brilliant. Google voice search is great as well, I spent half an hour after downloading it just trying and failing to make it get one wrong!

    Have a great day,

  • Just got my HTC Magic this week and got tons of great apps :)

But I couldnt find Beebplayer (mentioned in this video)

Tried searching for it and also for "player" (there are a lot of thos :P), but couldnt find it...is it off already or what?

    Thank you

  • Hi perfectdonk

    I love this phone!

If you search in the market for beebPlayer it should be the first result.

I've just tested it here and it worked.

    Cheers

  • Nah, I already did search for it several times

But I think it's only available in the UK (since i features shows from UK tv, we here have "uitzendinggemist" for that )

    Thnx anyway,

love this phone too, just figured out how handy and cool Streetview (Googlemaps) is in "compasmode"! :D

  • I am thinking of getting one of these I have read millions of reviews Etc. But i want to know like what do you think of the phone like the Pros and Cons of it lol do you feel like you are going to break just by picking it up or do you fear that the touch screen is going to stop working along with accelerometer or what please message back.

  • Well I got it for a couple of weeks now and Im very pleased (my 1st HTC phone btw)

You have to consider what you find most important on a phone.

If I see anything that I dont like and find important I'll check the rest of the phone but probably I've lost all my interest in it and wont buy it

I didnt have that with the Magic (g1 has a hardware keyboard but is crazy ugly.!)

  • and also didnt have it with a couple others

    - LG Viewty Smart

    - Iphone..jep

    - HTC touch pro 2 or HD

    - couple more (ie nokia n97)

But all these phones had something that ticked me off

-Iphone, boring, too common and too restricted in customizing and 3rd party developers

-And other devices running windows mobile I didnt like the switch between WinMobile and the rest of the interface

The Magic has, except for the lousy camera (3MP,no flash) a great UI and functionality

  • It looks good (at least in white IMO :-) and is not heavy but still feels sturdy

Like I said, both performance as functionality of the camera is pretty weak.

You can of course, with Android, at least increase functionality by downloading better firmware and (many free) apps. In the case of the camera you have different apps that work a lot better than the standard program and some have nice etra features like auto focus on/off, fisheye etc etc

But it wont give you a flash or 5MP camera:P

  • I find it enough for taking just ocasional pictures when going out in daylight (no flash so it wont do you very good taking pictures at night or in a club)

Oh and the (pretty much) only difference with the HERO is a 5MP camera (and 3.5mm jack)..so you may want to get the HERO

The Android market is great. Of course it wont have as much apps/games as Apple but it's growing fast and since it's opensource, more manufacturers are making Android phones and that will dev. attract more developers!

  • You can find the apps on your computer as well at W W W . CYRKET . C O M

Also, the sites (and youtube videos ) are growing where you can find everything about your phone.

At least search for "top10" apps if you do get this phone, because they'll probably will increase your phone's usability a lot (Bluetooth filetransfer, TaskManager, Wifi tracker etc)

Also, if you're technical (and ONLY then) , you can choose to flash a Hero ROM on it (or just the newest Android version)

    Gd luck !

  • Hows the Aim/Aol Messanger ?

  • are the apps for this phone free? :O

  • Hi Eternal,

The applications for the HTC Magic work in the same way as other similar devices, there are loads of free ones available, alongside some chargeable ones too. These are all clearly marked in the application Market, so you can't accidentally spend your money!

    Best wishes,

  • thanks, im thinking about getting this phone for my bday, looks like a great phone. inda like the iphone but in my opinion better. :) thanks

  • Hi Vintoe,

Although using 3G will improve the speed of your internet connection, you don't pay any more for using it than you do for the standard "GSM" part of our network.

Let me know if you've got any further questions!

    All the best,

  • I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but does 3G cost money to use? eg if I got a pay as you go phone would I be charged for using 3G?

  • where do i get the "goole search by voice" application.

I am on vodafone but never had this application.

    Thanks

  • it's already in the phone. Simply click on the search button right above the end key on the right and that's it :)

  • Can you also watch live BBC tv when you live outside of the UK?

  • Love the funky music!! I also love my HTC magic.... apart from the crap battery life :s

  • dose anyone have a camera app like picsay that you can make a picture with something red in it stay red while the rest is black and white?? if so whats it called?

  • dont really like this think i might get the hero

  • I regret getting a iphone instead of this

  • thats what we like to here :)

  • LOL

  • Enjoy using LastFM for 10 minutes until you "unlimited" data pack runs out after 500MB.

  • a last fm each song is never downloaded so it only takes like 3mb to display, b unlimited is fair usage for 800mb + no less (UK) thank you now piss off.

  • How does Metal detector work? what's the range?

  • i am pretty sure its fake. if you just tilt the phone the detector goes off. it fooled me for like a day

  • Nah It's real, I have a G1 with the app and It works :)

  • Yeah It works...The range is a few inches.
