  • Jerry Rivers was great but my favorite version is by the Arkansas Barefoot Boys from the 1920's or early 30's. It's on Youtube but the transfer is noisy. Johnny Horton and Hank Williams have two weird things in common. They were both married to the same woman and the last gig they played was at the same club.

  • Ha, Elvis was born on the 8th of January 1935 :D

im fan of both though :P

  • Thank you.

  • No comments on this piece of musical history? Sometimes, I just don't understand YouTubers! A fiddle tune that commemorated a famous battle and became the basis of a hit song, played in two different versions by the band of a major Country-Western star and less than 1500 users have listened to it. Sad.

  • @McGrenzer Gotta jog some memories!

In 1814 we took a little trip,

Along with colonel Jackson down the Mighty Mississip...

The Battle of New Orleans, 8 January 1814
