  • How much is this job worth

  • how do you get the new panels to attach to the door ?

  • nice doors bro

  • Im sure the end result is always nice but what a pain in the ass to for all the steps LOL

  • if wanted to do this project for someone what should i charge them

  • Its so awesome you share all these tips and take us along for the ride ....... You have tought me so much more about car audio , thank you bro

  • @SDUndisputed no prob bro, thanks for saying so. I appreciate that just as much. :)

  • a shitload of thanks to you meade,i got so many hints and tips from your clips,(oh shit,it rhymed) that ive gone and i rebuilded my entire soundsystem to my car,and probably saved a load of money by doing it myself, using pretty much the same techniques you use.maybe the outcome is not as professional as yours, but still,im enjoying the sound and the look, thanks again dude, keep up the good work

  • @6chaosphere6 word up bro, thank you for the message, its comments like these that keep me going!

  • @meade916 How long did you wait for the fleece and the resin to settle before you started the fiberglass process?

  • @superstevosupremo just until dry bro.

  • steve boi i sure it sounding good but it go sound even better wit sum indian music...lol serious tlk...try it

  • Incredibel presentation ! Hats off now I might do some glass on my mowers

  • They must weigh a ton :)

  • FIY for anyone thinking of connecting their sander to their shop vac -

25 feet of sump pump hose from the plumbing section of LOWES or HOME DEPOT = $10. Fits both the vacuum intake and the orbital sander discharge port. works just as well as

Shop vac hose = $40 for 10 feet.

  • DUDE UR SHIT IZ FCKIN GOOD I GIVE U PROPS 4 EVERYTHIN ,U HVE ANY OTHER PROJECTS?

  • want me to send you a fabric rotary cutting wheel to make quick work of cutting those strips?

  • Yo, Steve amazing build bro and amazing car... i have a question im looking to get door speakers for my truck and im looking at rockford fosgate speakers but idk what type to get (prime, punch, or power) which type would give a good clean sound that can handle being played load... btw the speakers are ganna be 6x9s and 6 1/2s.. thanks bro

  • Thanks for the vids learn something everytime..

  • i dont know if you have people that work for you but if i lived in cali i would come work for free.

  • @meade916 How much hardener are you adding to your resin, because I'm adding the suggested amount and that shit turns gel in about a minute. I live near the Houston area so it's about 100 and around 50% humitidy, which is probably why it's getting hard so fast. How much is it going to effect the integrity if I only use about 1/4 of the hardener, that way I have a longer working time.

  • damn that shit was legit as hell

  • is there anyway you could send me the specs and brands of the fiber glassing materials hardner, resin, dremel bit "kitty hair", filler, fleece, and the weave basically all the "store bought products". i am really interested in doing this to my mkz and i really appreciate your walk through if i ever get this done ill be sure to show you some pics mainly because this video inspired me to try something different lol thank you

  • hey steve, after doing all the work to the door panels with multiple layers of resin, filler and mdf.. how much did those panels end up weighing? I'm looking to do something similar and want them as strong/reinforced as possible but trying to cut back on the weight. I wouldn't be adding as many cutouts as you, probably only 1 6 1/2 and a tweet.. so I'm thinking it wouldn't be too drastic. Also do you think i'd have a problem if I only did part of the door and not the whole thing?

  • What grit sand paper do you use?

  • will that panel be heavier than the old one?

  • thanks steve cool ! :)

  • Watched your Door Panel Videos about 5-6 times now! haha, Going to start on mine on the 13th. 3 6.5s Component sets going in each door.

  • i bet having a shop now is so much nicer, great job with the panels.

  • Job Well Done.!

  • if you were going to wrap the doors

    why did you sand them?

  • @sullivan106 because it still has to be clean underneith or it will show right through.

  • DAMN!! here's us appreciating your work, whereas we know your wife gonna be pissed cleaning your clothes LOL!!!

  • can u use bondo

  • hey Steve how many layers of fiberglass did you use?

  • Does it make a big difference if the door speakers are in sealed enclosures rather then just leaving the back open like you have?? Im going to make fiberglass pods for my 6.5's but theres alot of air space in the door once the panels are on. Im afraid its going to mess with performance so i mite make a back to them so the speakers are sealed up.

  • yo steve do u go through a ton of scissors or do u just keep one pair thats really fu@king sharp ?

  • after priming what are you looking for IDK

  • What is the purpose of the fiber glass filler before the Rage? Does that just help with laying down the Rage?

  • @porkchop976 you mean the "kitty hair"? its for strength and also to keep it from warping.

  • i wish i could do this for a living... do you need an assitant? are you willing to train? :)

  • wats sup what did you wet it with at 5:00

  • @beatituprights I was wondering that to. Do you just like wet it with water? haha

  • Hey Steve - Why do you use the fleece rather than making your first layer fiberglass cloth? Just wondering.

  • Really cool project, and very informative, thanks for sharing.

    Peter

  • where can i get that fiberglass cloth

  • Oh my god those panels look pretty fuckin sweet.

    Nice man!!

  • Steve what kind of paint gun are you using and where can i get one?

  • damn your a badass, looks sick

really cool seeing all your progress

must suck working with one hand

  • any reason why u used polyester resin ? I would have used some WEST epoxy system and finished with 407 surface filler . that way you can save on weight , and you would save time sanding that thing. its the best epoxy i used so far , i fix my boat with it you can get it at West Marine..... not bashing your way of doing things , just giving you some ideas . very nice job you did BTW

  • about how much do these weigh in comparison to the original when you're done? (not counting speakers)

  • oohhhhhhh snap!! I saw the Carolina Panthers on that TV.

  • hell of a job man, i just did 2 small pods and spent 2days sanding cant imagine a full door. good vid thanks. where did u get the bulk roll of glass and other supplies?

  • Just currious why you used a putty knife instead of the plastic/rubber body filler spreaders? Not sure the technical term

  • hey men you be patient so much

  • Man your so pimp even your sander looks like its floating :P

  • great fiberglass work my man, im about to do a custom box, looks like ill be visiting the SMD forums!!!

  • What sanding pad is that on the orbital?

  • thanks everyone!!!!

  • dude i seriously admire you for this rebuild.

i dont think i could ever put so much time and effort into my system.

but then again i know how much pride you take in your tahoe. so i honestly dont blame you a bit for any of this.

great job the whole way through man.

  • thanks man!!!! much appreciated!

  • Your Awsome!!!! :D :D your videos are really helpfull cheers :-) just one question, what size is your orbital sander? as in the diameter of the sanding disc? thanks very much

  • Fiberglassin' is fun!

Just wanted to tell you that I think your work is awesome, the soundsystems you build is insane, skullcrackin' bass is the way I love it!

Hehe, I got to get registered on your forum now!

Keep up with the good work man.

    Best wishes, Victor from Sweden.

  • okay i feel you.. but arent you using some foam on the panels before wrapping... foam to give the panel a bit softness....so imperfections would be zero to minimal even without sanding.... we do upholstery also....

  • what papir did you use for sander?

  • how you do that shit with one hand?! lol

  • why did you take so extensive and detail in the sanding the panels if you are gonna cover in vinyl.. you stated they will be wrapped.. why prime a panel that is gonna be wrapped. i can understand wanting a smooth surface to wrap.. this will not show any imperfections thru the vinyl.. but why prime.. dude you could have just sprayed those panels with matching interior tone paint.

  • how bout, because i WANTED TOO LOL. I was going somewhere and i wanted them to be ONE color, plus primer shows imperfections a little easier . Any other questions or suggestions?

  • @meade916 you tell em mr. meade by the way i joined your fourm today learned alot in the few hours i have been on. its a great site.

  • Maybe because it is easier to see if everything is smooth, and makes it easier to see if the both doorsides is symmetrical.

And it actually makes it easier to Youtube users to see the results.

And also the best ground work allways leads to the best result, stop questioning the ways he work, he probably works the way he is comfortable with.

Show us what modifications you have done that is so good without sanding then?

Sorry for bad english // Victor from Sweden.

  • very..very impressive :)

  • T-Shirts also make great molds too. You should try it out on your next great project. Peace!!

  • shit looks sick wid it steve! nice job

  • You should leave it just like that or repaint it because it seems like such a shame to go through all that work in finishing the panels just to cover them up. Peace

  • amazing

  • Very good work Steve :)

  • Take a break a chomp on that bag of Barbecue Frito's Chips. The Panels look nice.

FML lol. This is an amazing system Mr. Meade, I live in Fairfield, maybe about 45 minutes away from Sac. I hope I get to see your setup some day. • Sweet! I need to get me some panels like that.

  • keep up the good work steve!!!! That shit is going to bang when ur done.

  • hey man the doors look grate

but whats the reson for the chop an the matt ?

i have seen ppl use just fleece befor

  • just using fleece is GENERIC. I would not trust my doors or anything else with just fleece. Fiberglass is a must if you want it to last.

  • Nice, thank you for showing us how to do stuff. I noticed you still have stock pedals, I think you should get some aftermarket pedals, Would make it look better to me and I think they would feel better when driving. Seems nice other than that but I can't really tell from the videos, it's a must see kinda thing!

  • go bills lol

  • Whats going on with the custom kick panels?

  • sounds clear as shit steve. nice

  • What you doing for your read doors steve? I will still bang even if you dont do the read doors!!!!

  • Loved the Video!

  • looking smooth you should go into body work ;)

  • or he can stay were he is...

  • amazing

  • Awesome work man. I love watching videos like this because the sanding goes by in like 2 seconds instead of how long (and tedious) it takes when you are having to do it.

  • yep

Shit he does his shit right though. I was doing some custom panels in my 240sx because its convertible and the panels basically don't exist. Basically made me decide to go all custom. I didn't do quite the steps he did on the dash puttng custom dash pods I just did a steel frame and kitty haired it in then bondo but I was having trouble figuring out what to do to finish it.

I'm glad he posted his videos saves my ass. Now I finish it.

  • those are bad ass look good

  • Steve, I must say that the most impressive part of your videos is how incredibly patient and professional you are at all times during the rebuild. Kudos and looks fantastic.

  • i mean with the new setup

  • Fritos FTW

  • Awesome job man~~!!, they look awesome

  • It needs 2 be louder bro.. but nice build tho

  • *Louder

  • Hey Steve,

Do you think the Tahoe will be loader than the Caddy?

  • no!!

  • that looks sweat!

  • damn great vid gave me alot of help watching how to do that

  • What you should do is on the back speakers put some L.E.D. blue or green neon lights around the speakers

  • Steve would probably think that's cheesy as fuck. I think it's tight, i've got some lights of my own, but Steve here is old skool.

  • that would be ricer as hell and how ugly lol

  • LED neon? never heard of that...

  • well I mean L.E.D.'s or neon lights and if you think im a dumbass and dont know what im saying just say it
