Does anyone know why Hooded Claw wants to kill her and what is that hilarious accent she has ?
It is a positive thing that she as a pretty lady interests the villain only as a killing object. Good to see girls were treated equally with men when they were meant to die but let plenty of time to figure out how to escape.
@tedmania With the goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and hat Penelope could be taken as a pilot. If you saw the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the dress becomes more apparent and suitable given the convertible she drives. Olden day cars had minimal windshield protection. The goggles protected the eyes from extraneous road debris. The hat outfitted the goggles and probably protected the head to some degree. The gloves suited the race car outfit and gave grip to the steering wheel.
Penelope WAS unique. Innocent and sexy, athletic but always a lady, she was an optimist, who thought fast on her feet and never lacked confidence nor dignity. She was a feminist with style! I really enjoyed her "out of costume" adventures the best, where one got to see her beautiful hair, her feet, or her form in a lovely dress. My female sensual side would have loved to have seen her in a perfect negligee- but who should she have married...Peter Perfect??? LOL
yes she would have been a good porn star! i think she's a dirty little minx especaily when she drives past them all and sez hiiiyyyaa boooyyyssss hahaha!
While true that Penelope's costume in "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" is based on her costume from "Wacky Races", the reason she was dressed similarly to a pilot in both series is that when racing first began, the cockpit of the cars were mostly open. Drivers therefore wore goggles and scarves to protect their eyes from wind and fumes and their scarves from the cold. The helmet is worn for the same reason helmets are worn in races today- to protect the driver in a crash.
Inspite of the Anthill Mob's constant goof-ups in trying to rescue her life, Penelope, nevertheless, was grateful for their valiant if incompetent efforts to rescue her from the Hooded Claw. She didn't seem to mind their goof-ups.
Penelope Pitstop was completely clad in clothes from the neck down and of course she wore a helmet goggle on her head; all the viewers saw was her beutiful hair and face. We never saw any other part of her body, but even being heavily clad couldn't hide Penelope's beautiful sexy body.
Actually, Penelope did "show some leg" while crawling through the Ant Hill Mob's tunnel in "The Boardwalk Booby Trap", and she went barefoot in "Cross Country Double Cross". Even so, I agree that Penelope was quite the sex symbol, despite being the heroine of a cartoon watched by very young children.
Define very young chlidren? What age would you say? Preschool? I first saw this cartoon when I was nine years of age in 1976 when it went into syndication. and I thought Penelope Pitstop was positively sexy I wouldn't have those feelings for a cartoon character at age three or four, let alone a real woman.
I recall watching the cartoon when it debuted on CBS in 1969; I was 2 years old then. I could see that Penelope was pretty, but at that age I wouldn't have considered her sexy.
Nah, you're not old. She was my first crush! I think I was about 3. I remember I had a PP coloring book. They don't make cartoons like this one anymore! Foghorn leghorn was the best! When he beats that dogs ass with a board I still crack up. I have a bunch of those cartoons on tape. Better get them while you can. Pretty soon all that will be left is spongebob squarepants (yawn).
You know,They (the animators) never explain why Penelope is a wealthy woman? and so forth, they just jump right through it; but I do have imagination like : Penelope was the beloved daughter of a wealthy family; but when her Mama and Papa died, it was always her "dear daddy's" secretary Sylvester Sneekly who was with her all her life, because to girl's daddy (or male guardian) he's her oracle, her guidance and her hero (maybe that's why she refuses to believe that Sylvester is The Hooded Claw).
Thats one cartoon show that a classic. One time at the of the show. The hooded claw said"I,LL GET HER AND DO HER IN!I,LL GET THEM AND DO THEM IN!AND I,LL EVEN GET YOU!!HEE HAA HAA!!!I had a crush on her,and sabrina the teen aged witch.A crush on valerie of josie and the pussycats.Huh i think i,d better shut up now.I huh hope she doesn,t read these things.
Penelope Pitstop she is so hot I want to call an Amber Alert if I was able to capture her. Because Its not like I want to have sex with a cartoon character its just I want somebody to draw me fucking a cartoon character.
whoaa! i remember watching this show years ago! i hardly remember the show, all i noe is that she was running away from sum1 & sum short ppl helped her!
i wish all the classics came on cartoon network again...
If you mean to say that Penelope's boots disappeared entirely, rather than just her slipping them off during her descent, I noticed that same omission on the animators' part.
Well i can't remember what actully happen but do remeber that she had this ting tied round her legs so she riggled her boots off to get rid of it and make it land on that planck of wood to make a spring bord.

@Avene13 The Hooded Claw wanted to take over Penelope's inheritance. As for Penelope's accent, she had it in "Wacky Races".

The music score of the series by Ted Nichols would be great for its own soundtrack album CD! :-)

Being a sweet southern girl, that probably means her family made its fortune in cotton or tobacco, which means they once owned slaves.
