im currently makeing a ant colony from scratch i got a tank 2 simulate forageing and a tube that leads to a man made tunnel sorta like that all i have is about 20 workers a queen and some grass hoppers and water/honey for food

I caught these ants from the wild so they were a big colony to start off with. Now there are even more than when I began.

hey so i have this small problem. i built a plaster nest and i hot glued the glass on the top without thinking about humidity. how can i get humidity into the nest without actually getting in it?

what did you use for the ants to live in and whenever i feed ants honey they get stuck to itt

I used grout, a cement-like material used to bind floor tiles together. Yes, some ants may get stuck which is why it's important to have the honey as thin as possible (and use honey + water so it stays thin). Also make sure the ants have something rough to hold onto because some ants may slip and fall.

It's an artificial nest made of grout. Yes, I fashioned the chambers and tunnels myself.
