fallegt lag, :) i sing this to my brothers when they go to sleep, and my mom sang it for me and so it goes on in most icelandic families. And the story behind it, if i remeber it right.. that a women sang this to her shild before she through it down waterfall when men were hunting her down
Sleep my young love outside the rain is crying. Mom keeps your toys old leg and round case. We should not stay awake through dark nights. There is much that know the darkness My mind is empty. often a black sand range and green meadow. The glacier dead and deep cracks. Sleep long and quietly late is best to wake up. I will teach you soon as the day is soon. People love, lose, cry and mourn.
I think it is old norse. I am swede myself and ... don't recognize it as other nordic languages. And I still recognize some words and sentices. It also fits with the album title. I might be wrong. o.o
Anybody know the tranlation of the lyrics ? Is it of the Germanic branch ? Sof?u unga astin min uti regni? gr?tur. Mamma geymir gullin ?in gamlan legg og voluskrin. I joklinum hljo?a dau?ar djupar sprungur..
anybody has an idea to which wing of opera or lyric singing this belongs to? aria, oratoria, etc???

It's Icelandic actually. I think I recall being taught that Icelandic is the language that has least changed from old Norse, so you weren't far off.
