It's kinda hard to translate, because there's no real english word for it.

But I would say "Greetings" is the best translation for it. But it's anyway an obsolete expression, which isn't really used anymore. "Grüessäch wou" is more common. And the expression itself is a polite greeting. You greet for example your teacher or your boss with "Grüessäch wou".
