@hardmarine The ground where I live is too rocky to effectively bore through. Lots of large boulders that would be pretty tough to drill through. The rock saw literally ripped right through them.

Hey, ran a power meter on that mini fiber node, aka, ONT (Optic network terminal), and with all the wattage its sucking out, I'm paying 8$ a month to run it... SHIT, better cancel now, so i can go pay 50$ a month MORE just to have suckcast. HA, I think not.
cable is true quam and is 5 to 1000 mghz wide with speeds of 50 mg and with new technology coming this spring its going to be much faster with over 200 hds on the way plus no $400.00 customer owned mini node (replace that sucker once or twice) powered off of your electric bill hanging off your house.
its noting like cable... fiber gives you unlimited bandwidth.. cable doesnot.. cable has to condense the hd signal and repopulate it at the end of the line because of its limited bandwidth. Cable also cannot offer the speeds that internet over fiber can either...close just doesnt count
actually all the "fiber to the home" thing is doing is int the end converting it all back to "rf" which is cable anyhow....cable just gets it as close as possible...fios runs it right into your house, where YOU have to pay to power a mini-fiber node....hey if your a millionaire, have fun....otherwise beware.....you will be paying through the nose
3Mbp per second is fast? You are definitely a 20th century person. Nothing wrong with being left behind, if you are an extremely light user (using the internet a few hours a month for light use paying bills and checking a few emails) that speed is just good enough for you, as well as a 3G smart phone.
@colinfarel your retarded im paying for 100 mb but what u pay for and how fast u download files and trust me im a heavy used. on a good torrent i can get 5mb a second which is amazing... ive talked to network specialists and people who contract for government if im downlaoding this fast without fiber optics theres no reason to change
@colinfarel and trust me ive delt with fiberoptics... its a lot faster for transfering data if everything is fiberoptics but the wires in your pc are still copper and aluminum or gold. so unless u have a server like dod,fbi, social security or any of those theirs no real justifiable reason to pay that much to get something that will be no better. if your getting fios u better pay the extra buck for shielded cables.
Dirt easement, what dirt easement. The easement is so ate up by driveways and landscaping there is no where to dig. As for drilling you can tell from the way the rock saw is acting this is not easy ground and drilling is so damn expensive anyway. As a contractor you want to go with the sure thing.
verizon tries to blanket the states and gets denied then has to go town per town to get approval to run the planet.....and verizon has stopped the build on towns that have only approve voice and data.....talk to your town rep.......

But it's all about the company in charge of the equipment.... And Verizon don't seem to be very popular on Youtube and forums.
It will be years before i see any such fibre being installed to my house, which angers me greatly.
Where the hell was this? And why didn't they bore it? Why open cut the road. That's just stupid.

The node where the MAIN fibers come in might have bin down the street so they dug it up and ran his wire in..

And they don run firber on telephone lines unless they cant put it underground.
Why?
Because fiber is expensive and breaks easily when in movement ex(a storm,hurricane). and they dont want ppl to cut their lines.
mostly all fios lines are underground.. for protection and quality assurance..

Fiber to the curb + 50 feet of coax or gigethernet is WAY better than the 15,000 feet of 40 year old 26g copper that I now have.
