Just what Detroit needs: Another vacant lot for drug deals. Yup, there sure aren't enough of those in this city... Hopefully, someone will put the property to good use.
I am with you guys. I am a Yankee fan all my life and when Yankee Stadium was demolished that was terrible. I recorded the last Tiger game with Fick hitting that grand slam in the bottom on the 8th and how fitting that was. I understand Al Kaline actually said Fick would hit a HR that game.
I saw many games from old Tiger Stadium growing up a Yankee fan and it was a great little park.
We need to be happy with our memories and move on with our teams and root for them.
The "AMERICAN PASTTIME" is dead. Shea, Yankee, Tiger, damn shame just the history alone. The could have left a part of the Tiger stadium up and made it into a Detroit musiem.
what an ugly shame..This is an eye sore and if that's how we treat historical treasures like Tiger Stadium we might as well not play the Old Ball Game any more.
WOW this is scary. you know if this were to happen to fenway park right now there would be an ESPN special, a contest to see who would get a front row seat and is would be the heartbreak of america, btu when it happens in Detroit its no big deal its just another demolished stadium
what a shame. took a piece of american history away from all of the former players and fans... In the words of Ernie Harwell.... AND ITS LONG GONE....
What's another useless, vacant lot to the city of Detroit? I swear, the apathy, greed and basic cluelessness of Detroit's elected officials is amazing. When will the people wise up and demand better leadership? This kind of crap has been going on for almost half a century. When will the people demand integrity, efficiency, common sense and an appreciation for what Detroit once was and can be again?
I agree with you 100%!! Even if the people who live in Detroit demand integrity, common sense, etc from their politicians, what are the odds that they're actually going to get it? The politicians have long since stopped caring about Detroit.
That is about freakin' depressing. The city of Detroit wasted a golden opportunity to turn a historic old building, a place that meant so much to so many, into something useful. It could have been a sports museum with a field that could have been used for youth games or special events. I can't believe Ernie Harwell didn't get more help from other celebs with Michigan roots in saving the stadium. Sad.
Hard to believe that baseball history once stood here..now a big open field of nothing but ghosts and memories....nice going Detroit! You had a glorious opportunity to preserve history.. should we expect any less? Last person to leave Detroit..shut off the light!
they tore down the jewel of Detroit. Well at least they have casinos and pawn shops. Idiots.

That's weird! Tiger stadium always looked bigger on TV.
I guess it's true, TV adds 10 pounds!
