I thought that Finlandia should be accompanied by photos of Finland! obviously, even though this version is by the London Symphony Orchestra . This photograph is from a stock photograph and appears on the site "Tourist Destinations" and appears when you select Finland.....
@puistis This recording was made in 1966, so the quality may well not be to the standard of modern day recordings. I have others which are coming up soon which are on old 78rpm disks and which were recorded in the 1930's. These are probably more important for their historical value more than their musical value.
@FinnMove we have the same problem here some people think the star spangelled banner isnt the greatest melody maybe something by aaron copland would be better
This is one of the better ones on youtube. Some are too fast in the beginning. Sounds like they are in a hurry to finish the piece. But on the other hand this one could have picked up a little at the fast point. I like it more aggressive. Sounds just a little bit lazy. But at least they are giving respect to the piece and "sitting" there, feeling it.
....And I haven't heard that there would be any fjords in Finland either. Finnish coasts are really plain areas. Sorry, trying not to be picky :)
@viulu2007 Hi I did my to best to ensure that all the pictures were images which were taken in or around Finland, if there is a particular picture which is not, please let me know which picture or pictures pose the problem and I will rectify this.
Now whose being picky over wording, there is though apparantly at least one Fjord as such in Finland, however others may be described as fjörður
Others are very large, beautiful and often frozen lakes, such as Lohjanjärvi, Osmankajärvi. Indeed some of which, or maybe only one or two of which could reasonably be described as "Fjord", or at least interpreted as such by a Brit who never really left its shores....

Hrm.
This is actually not so good compared to few others.
NOT that it is bad but it just lacks the feeling.

But that is of course up to others to decide. :)

It is not the quality of the record, but the understanding of the music it self.
Some inch of...hardnes is not found in this one.
Meaning the orchestra made it sound sad, whitch the piece is not meant to be sound.
Somehow it also sounds bit lazy.
Well, it is in my ears, can't say what others thinks =)

@spacepatrolman This should have been our tune instead of Maamme ( Our country ). I mean our national tune.

Jos tekee suomalaiseen kappaleeseen kuvakoosteen, se voisi kertoa Suomesta. Tässä videossa kuvia muualtakin kuin Suomesta.
