I am born in the early 90's and i have to say, there is a very strong part of me that is so ashamed of my generation. I am aware there are great people today who invent certain medicines and whatnot. However, the real heroes were the American and Canadian soldiers of WWII. They really did give their lives to better and honor their countries. It saddens me to see young kids today act so disrespectful and hateful.. Especially to those who gave and risked their own lives.

the US dropped the bomb not only to end the war, but to end it quickly because the russians declared war on japan, and they didnt want the russians to occupy japan, because the US already at that point was headed towards a war with russia. they dropped it to scare the shit out of russia to, to show they what weapons that had in their arsenals. america knew russia would become their greatest threat during and after ww2... thus the cold war

The german people were not willing to fight for a madman any longer. Only the SS continued to fight. As for the axis, they were not as close partners as you would think. According to the Nazis, ANY peoples not true german were inferior, including the Japanese.

And the german advisors had been telling hitler to make peace with britain since 1930's-45 they had always wanted to be allies with british empire and even USA! @martynrobin121 The Japanese Military surrendered in 1945. Yes, some cut off troops fought in hiding, but they had no knowledge of any outside news. As for the SS, yes, they fought the allies after the war officially ended in small packs called "wolverines".

Disagree on the money. For example the much-announced fund for the 'comfort women' is 100% private sector money. J-reparations and compensation have been predictably appalling. As for the apologies, there have been many statements that 'X was regrettable', but politicians or historians who have gone further are excoriated.
Abe Shinzo was worse than most as his grandfather was minister of forced labour during the war- he should know better-, but few have been exemplary.

Yes, reparations were in the treaty, just as not having an army in Germany was in the treaty of Versailles. Japan and German's approach to reparations and apologies are totally different-hence why the Heer has been aggressively deployed in combat roles, and the Japanese self defence forces have been making ice sculptures and driving aid trucks. protected by the French.

Japanese leaders has certainly said that things were 'regrettable' many times, but compared to Germany and Austria they have paid no compensation, and certainly the treatment of the 'comfort women' (to choose one from several examples) has been despicable, look at what former prime minister Abe said on the subject. It took 30 years for the slave labourers killed at Hiroshima to get their own memorial.
If a Japanese politician did what Willi Brandt did, his career would be done with.

Germany and Japan were defeated and then occupied militarily for many years (and still are with regards to US bases).

Last I heard, the Confederates didn't massacre prisoners, invade half of asia, indulge in mass (MASS) rape, or have anything like Unit 731. The Confederates also had the good sense to surrender to end the suffering of their own people. It took two A-bombs, Russian attacks and the emperor's intervention to get the Japanese to finish, and as you see above, the top-dogs were too ashamed to turn up at the surrender themselves.
