Is it at least the same car the bandit was or were you looking for a numbers matching resto type car? If it is the same or somewhat close car I would keep the car and take the settlement money (which should be more than you paid out) and restore it yourself. I think you appreciate a car more when you build it yourself and if you have never done it before it can be a life altering experience.
had a '78 Golden Edition years ago and wanted another just like it. (middle-age deal, I guess!) He did show pics but they were VERY carefully taken, or else they were of another car. As far as I know he's still selling on Ebay, and ALL of his cars are BEAUTIFUL!! You can tell his ads because they're practically all the same ad as the one for mine. I was stupid, but I didn't think anyone would so blatantly !!
Let me add that Chris from Chris' transport also stated that this car "Has been restored to top condition".

The girl who sold it to him is pissed too. She loved the car and he promised that he was gonna restore it and keep it.
