If the federal government can issue a health insurance mandate on the public and then unleash the IRS on you (an independent agency that's not supposed to get involved in this), they can also force homeowners and landlords to install solar panels (at property owner's expense); they can choose what kind of car you drive or appliances you buy, require proof of purchase to show compliance, and then put a lien on your tax returns through the IRS and DOR if you don't comply. Nobody there dies from being refused medical care, unlike the 45,000 Americans who die each year because the insurance companies refuse coverage/treatment. Health care is the #1 reason for bankruptcies here, while our salaries have stagnated over the years because of the skyrocketing cost of insurance which has no competition. Should hospitals just eat the difference, rather than raising their rates? It seems you blame the hospital and the government for higher rates, which is stupid since the people who get services but don't pay are causing the problem. Giving them govt health insurance does NOT make the expenses go away.

The main problem is your insurance pals take 30% of all premiums for profit instead of medical care as intended. Single payer universal care is the only real solution, & we'll get there someday. It would be time & efforted wasted to go on as you obviously are incapable of logical reasoning & accepting facts. @soakupthesunman No, numb nuts! Salaries are part of operating costs, profits are what's left over. The monopoly of the health insurance cartel pays hugh sums of money toward salaries & other compensations to executives, lobbyists and their actions (which are opposed to our best interests), shareholders, advertisements, etc. In contrast, Medicare uses only 6% of its premiums for overhead, which includes salaries. No other country would tolerate this BS.
