I quite liked the new Sherlock Holmes show, but the writers raped Moriarty. First he's an evil little leprechaun that makes snipers magicly appear in the exact spot they need to be, then he turns into a completely different persona for a different episode, then the writers pulls the most nonsensical assgravy I've ever seen in a TV show and has him kill himself to fuck Holmes over one last time. I spent the last 10 minutes of that episode reading a book, that's how bad it was. Ok I'm done.
A bit OT: Thank you, Benedict Cumberbatch, for acknowledging there is the high probability Sherlock has a type of autism. At least all the fans who have and are contemplating this aren't completely off the mark is the actor who plays him understands him as being so.
@LucianaMihaela It's obvious. If he is a socio/psychopath then were is the sexual perversion/promiscusity, the physical torture of animals, the history of deliquency as a child? He appears to be a socio/psychopath because he was alone and withdrawn. But John is changing that, John is bringing him out of his shell.
How annoying is it there are only six of them ? For boring people like me with nothing to do, 9 hours isn't enough. I downloaded the older series to fill the void. It's like methadone for a smack addict. It's just not the same.
I just watched this whole thing...and now have to watch it again because I didn't listen to a word. I was too engrossed in staring at his beautiful face. <3
I got completely hooked on the show when I was watching season 2. Today I saw the final episode and now I miss Sherlock already...I want new episodes!! :'''''''''(
And right when you think that there's no way a man can be stunningly beautiful, intelligent, cultured and wonderfully kind at the same time.. Benedict Cumberbatch appears.
Cumberbatch is great, but he makes a common mistake here that people need to stop making. Everyone needs to stop referencing Sherlock's "Aspergers/autism." He is clearly affected by neither (particularly not autism).
@sporks811 He doesn't say Sherlock was autistic, he said he was slightly autistic/sociopathic. Clearly, Sherlock is neither but has those tendencies. And as a person who has experience socializing with people with Aspergers, I'd agree.
@sporks811 He said he is autisitic and sociopathic in his approach at times which I think means he has autistic/sociopathic tendencies or behaviour similar to people who are either rather than saying he is actually autistic/a sociopath.
@sporks811 I think he has high functioning Asperger's Syndrome. I don't like when people assume he is some sociopath/psychopath. The only part of the diagnosis I don't like is OCD-like behaviors but I have an idea that it is implied. I personally know quite a few Aspies due to my professional and personal life and his behavior is sooooo similar to those I know. Curious to know what you think the diagnosis or issue is here with SH.
@lesababy Asperger's it is. I wouldn't say high functioning, perhaps mild, but his solitude worsened it, whereas with John it kind of "gets better" since John is very Socratic in his communication. Definitely not a sociopath.
@SherlocksCheekbones Thank you. The character is developing before our eyes. SH said he was a sociopath and others believe it also. But there is a big difference between AS and being a sociopath or psychopath. First if he was a sociopath then were is the sexual perversion of promoscuity, Mycroft would have told John about a troubled childhood involving deliquency or animal torture. Plus a psychopath uses people to there own ends and cares nothing for them.
@SherlocksCheekbones Look at how SH's life has changed now John is in it. He has friends and he even apologizes when he make social faux pas. Everyone thinks John is his lover when John is his referee. If this series had more episode I think a real transformation of SH's personality would have time to come out in the open and he would appear more human.
@lesababy Well, whilst I do believe need to learn the difference, they mostly need to listen... In "Hounds of Baskerville", the second episode of Series 2, Watson mentions to Lestrade Asperberg's. So, whilst one could summarize the obvious that years of research has brought to light (and people really should know what things mean before they go off and talk about them so confidently), it was also already mentioned in the series itself... leaving no room really for conjecture. :)
@SherlocksCheekbones Thank you. I'm a therapist and have worked with individuals with disabilities for almost 20 years and to me it is obvious. Society, the media and movies always portray people as sociopaths and psychopaths when there are so many other diagnosis to describe people's issues. A simple google of all of these terms would have cleared up the issue for most people.
John can't change him. Whatever reason for Sherlock's mind, it's not simple and it's not changeable. He's just the way he is. He doesn't feel things the same way that most people do. He cares about certain people in his own way. And really, coming out of his shell would mean becoming like Moriarty: abandoning all social restraints and searching for more interesting ways to be less bored.
@irurwurst No, John can't change him but he can change his ability to cope. John has done it in every episode of the show so far. He checks his behavior. And if Sherlock comes out of his shell more he will not be like Moriarty.... Moriarty is a true psychopath, Sherlock is not. Sherlock has high functioning Aspergers and will never abandon his social restraints because a person with AS has trouble understanding them in the first place.
did she really ask that question do you think he is a likeable character have you seen him i mean look at those cheak bones i could cut myself slapping them
@barbaro267 Oh, sorry, must have responded to the wrong person, my apologies!
I just mentioned House because someone said something along the lines of "if the main character is unlikable, no one would watch the show" and that made me recall season-one House, who was as unlikable as a main character can be (rude, tactless, selfish, cowardly, etc.) and his only saving grace was his encyclopedic knowledge of illnesses.
1) Child getting scared for no reason upon seeing Sherlock - obvious bad experience with a doppelganger.
2) Sherlock / Molly scene, completely out of character... only makes sense if it was part of a plan Sherlock was hatching.
3) Sherlock asked Watson to stay exactly where he was and 'don't come a step closer'. He wanted him to be at an optimal location to see what was about to happen (a trick that could only have worked at a specific angle)
I think it's pretty obvious that some sort of mask was used by Moriarty to impersonate Holmes, hence the girl screaming. And maybe Holmes knew that he had the mask on him on top of the roof, so he planned for Molly to use that on any body. She would be the coroner so she can lie and say that it is definitely Holmes. That's just my theory. Oh and I also think he jumped onto something like a laundry truck or whatever.
I have no idea how it could have been done. It I think Molly and Sherlock used a different already dead body to fling off the building. And Watson couldn't tell it wasn't Sherlock because of the motorbike that hit him to the ground. Also he said to John look at me very closesly as I jump.
is there a season 3? anyone? plz ....

And maybe Holmes knew that he had the mask on him on top of the roof, so he planned for Molly to use that on any body. She would be the coroner so she can lie and say that it is definitely Holmes. That's just my theory. Oh and I also think he jumped onto something like a laundry truck or whatever.

That room makes me think of the room where neo takes the pill in the matrix.

I have no idea how it could have been done. It I think Molly and Sherlock used a different already dead body to fling off the building. And Watson couldn't tell it wasn't Sherlock because of the motorbike that hit him to the ground. Also he said to John look at me very closesly as I jump.

@ATurtleAteMyTrex I agree. It was funny how Moriaty didn't include Molly in his "friends" list. He underestimated her.
