The fuel restrictions that hurt the Mustangs came in the early 1970s, not the 1980s. In the 1980s, Mustangs were on the rebound from the big government-era restrictions that lead to the low point of the Mustang life, which was the Mustang II. This proves that even big government can not kill the Mustang. Also, I should point out that a new 2011 Mustang GT probably gets better gas mileage than a V8-equipped Mustang II of the mid to late 1970s.

um....i wasnt around back then (im 25) but their was a fuel crisis in '80 with the Iraq invasion of Iran. Of course it wasnt as big as the 73-74 crisis but i figured you wouldve noticed a jump in prices.
