@themahermax This song and the rest of the album was recorded with Kristen Pfaff on bass actually; unfortunately she died before this single was released. She was a great bassist who taught herself after studying classical piano and cello in college, it's terrible that she's forgotten by so many.

KRISTEN died just two months after KURT's death and after (Live Through This) was released ...for this album we can only see her in the 1st single video (Miss World) because the 2nd (Doll Parts) was released 4 or 5 months after her death(the bass player in the video was Jennifer Finch from L7) .

@Literarygrrl i agree wholeheartedly, i'm 1 year younger than Kurt as i was born in 1968 and Nirvana, Hole, etc... had a HUGE impact on my life still to this day! this new music mostly sucks, with a few exceptions like The Dead Weather, Queens of the Stone Age, and Evanescence to name just a few and even they were influenced heavily by Generation X musicians....
@HEARTSHAPEDLOVER, it is deeper. I had to drop the tuning down in order to get past the UMG copyright filters on here. They'll allow the song to be posted on YouTube, and the video footage, but not the sound and video footage together, for whatever reason. Pretty stupid. But it was the only way I could do it without speeding up/slowing down the song, and I didn't want to do that because it just ruins it. It still sounds fairly close to the album version of the song. Or, at least somewhat.

@AllieDangerCat courtney wrote the song about her relationship with billy corgan before she knows kurt cobain in early days when she was a stripper ,the name violet is reference to the violet lights in a strip club (and the sky was all violet ), we can see in the video a strip club in burlesque style with exotic dancers and all men who looks to them ; in-fact courtney hate this period because it reminds her many bad memories : (and i'm the one with no soul - one above and one below )

@themahermax This song and the rest of the album was recorded with Kristen Pfaff on bass actually; unfortunately she died before this single was released. She was a great bassist who taught herself after studying classical piano and cello in college, it's terrible that she's forgotten by so many.

KRISTEN died just two months after KURT's death and after (Live Through This) was released ...for this album we can only see her in the 1st single video (Miss World) because the 2nd (Doll Parts) was released 4 or 5 months after her death(the bass player in the video was Jennifer Finch from L7) .
but me i prefer MELISSA as bassist and backing vocals- i saw the band twice in LIVE(1995-1999) and i like to watch courtney-eric-melissa-patty again ,BUT it just a DREAM !!

@grrlskout76 Thank you! It's the only conceivable way I could see to do it. Courtney's voice is a tad higher in pitch on the album version, but what the hell, right? Her voice is all over the place in live performances, she fluctuates a lot and it still sounds damn good.

And Courtney love was already an established musician before she met Kurt if you knew anything about her you'd be familiar with her first album(pre-Kurt) Pretty on the inside which although didn't sell very well recieved critical acclamation as well as every other hole album after that. How is it that Courtney was still able to produce good music after Kurt's death if he wrote all her music?

I'm just gonna say that I get really tired of listening to children say sh*t about Courtney and call her a murderer, when, in all likelihood, you still wore diapers when Kurt died.
I remember the day it happened. It was a big deal for people in MY generation.
And it was an even BIGGER deal for Courtney. She loved Kurt more than you ever could, and she lost him and still, years later, you talk sh*t about her.

@Literarygrrl i agree wholeheartedly, i'm 1 year younger than Kurt as i was born in 1968 and Nirvana, Hole, etc... had a HUGE impact on my life still to this day! this new music mostly sucks, with a few exceptions like The Dead Weather, Queens of the Stone Age, and Evanescence to name just a few and even they were influenced heavily by Generation X musicians....

@HEARTSHAPEDLOVER, it is deeper. I had to drop the tuning down in order to get past the UMG copyright filters on here. They'll allow the song to be posted on YouTube, and the video footage, but not the sound and video footage together, for whatever reason. Pretty stupid. But it was the only way I could do it without speeding up/slowing down the song, and I didn't want to do that because it just ruins it. It still sounds fairly close to the album version of the song. Or, at least somewhat.

I saw HOLE @ Lollapalloza in 1994! They fucking rocked out! I think either they or Smashing PUmpkins were the headliners.... i might be thinking the 1995 lolla... i'll have to WIKIPEDIA it ;)
