  • ………………

  • I'd better, it might be somebody. Classic comedy, I think US sitcoms like Three's Company followed the formula well. You don't get that anymore

  • Wow...I haven't seen this since reruns on PBS in North Texas! Wondered what happened to the Show...Thank God for Youtube!

  • It often seems more like this, oh wise one. I suppose there's a vein of truth in it all...

  • Can you believe they're making a second series of the Martin Clunes version?!?!?! Waste of time or what...they can never outclass the original! xxx

  • وعععععععععععع

  • Which episode was this? Can anybody tell me please? I discovered these series rather recently, but it's great. Trying to see them all on line, if not i'll just have to get them from somewhere else.

  • I didn't realise Audrey roberts used to be such a tasty little piece, this has made watching coronation street very confusing..

  • @jamesjonesrocket Hey - having Dave Lister on the show boggles my mind!

  • An early Peep Show? Especially with the repressed nature in relationships and also the superb voice overs. Love Reggie Perrin. So very well layered as a comedy.

  • there's only one Reggie Perrin--and its not Martin Clunes

  • @ysplse SO true.

  • I sort of watched this on and off as a teenager, however I understood it more watching it as an adult. After leaving school and getting my first job, I began to understand what Reggie was all about, the mundane rituals or normal every day life, we all take for granted. Now as a 48 year old, I love this show, its become another true British classic. Long live Reggie Perry and Rigsby... :-)

  • During the remainder of the episode Reggie will also be visited by Jimmy amd Tom. Strangely, none of the vistors will mention seeing Joan's car parked outside. Presumably she did not "travel 20 miles" by public transport.

  • i think Martin Clunes's version of this is a very good modern adapation which young people who havn't seen this would like. Martin did state that he never wanted to be compared to Leonard Rossiter because it was a remake of the book and he knew he would never be as good. Personally i think the new show is excellent and didnt miss an episode - yet my opinion may be different if i was old enough to watch this version of the show when it was on tv

  • I hope it's released in the States soon. I only got to see some of the original series years later, being in the States, but I can see how Martin Clunes would bring an edge to the character that could be interesting to see....have always enjoyed the few British programs we get here.

  • Joan is played by Sue Nicholls, better known as Audrey Roberts in Coronation Street. Classic timeless comedy. The 70 s was a golden age for sit coms, Fawlty Towers, Whatever happened to the Likely Lads and others

  • Thanks very much, Shah. I knew I recognized her, but couldn't think of where I'd seen her.

Excellent show. A contemporary show I also enjoyed greatly was 'The Good Life'.

  • Coronation Street is shown in Canada?! Or maybe you are an exiled Brit? Saw Penelope Keith recently in Educating Angels where she played a slightly snooty but kind hearted upper middle class snob, i.e just like Margot Ledbitter,a terrific comedy actress.

  • It is shown here in Canada. I watched it off and on for about 20 years. I still miss Angie Freeman.

Yes, Penelope is a great comic actress.

The British have made so many great comedy series. Including Red Dwarf and Black Adder.

  • @ORCA4312 mate, if you're into this era of humor look up Black Adder, One foot in the Grave, Mr Bean, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses and The Royle Family.

  • I think Martin Clunes is great so logged on to see what the original was like. I am completely won over. It's brilliant. Why did they remake it?!

  • I've got Clunes on the telly ,and Rossiter on here . There's no comparison .

    Clunes is brilliant.

I didnt get where I am today by telling the truth.

  • @muddyfoxcourier LOL. I see what you did there.

Yep, classics should NEVER be re-made.

  • Clunes tries hard, but it just doesn't work

  • Totally agree with the last comment. As much as I like Martin Clunes, this was the brilliant Leonard Rossiter's show all the way, and a remake would be pointless.

  • I've heard the BBC are going to remake this show with Martin Clunes as Reggie.

Why bother? They won't be able to improve on it. They'd be better off just showing the original series again.

  • I agree 100%. What a waste of time and money.

  • No farting chair either , the best thing in this!

  • @hibernica007 Lack of new ideas, and excess of greed.

  • compare this to american crap!

  • top stuff

  • Wow I watched this as a kid on PBS - British Comedy night.

  • He was a keepfit fanatic but died of a heart attack, ironic isn`t it.

  • Leonard Rossiter lovely bloke !

  • You couldn't design a better Reggie than Leonard Rossiter

  • Yes I would.

  • I love it!

  • THe whole day (hintity-hint)

  • This show was GOLD!

  • omg lol!

  • omg lol!
