Basil/Dorian - Bring me to life

Aww, I wish I could leap into Dorian like Sam Beckett and comfort Basil thoroughly. Especially if he is as cute as Ben Chaplin;)

How old are Basil and Henry in the novel? The text mentions Basil as a "young man", but I thought he was in a "mentoring" age for a young boy. Some analysis wrote Henry was 10 years older than Dorian.

@KashyaCharsi In the novel I suppose Dorian is 20 and Basil and Henry are about 30, i.e. they are all much younger than in this film.

мне нравится как в видео показана сюжетная линия Dorian/Basil, не хватает лишь эпизода где Дориан избавляется от тела imho

Спасибо! А вот эпизод избавления от тела я сознательно не стала включать. Меня это в фильме несколько изумило, мягко говоря - в книге Дориан даже взглянуть лишний раз на убитого боялся и заставил другого человека этой "грязной работой" заняться, а в фильме - циничная расчленёнка. Хотя, конечно, образ Грея совсем по-другому подан в фильме, и это - не единственное отличие.

Прекрасное видео! Мне очень понравилось и музыка подходит настолько, что если бы не знала откуда она, подумала бы, что это саундтрек к фильму! :) Трогательная история неразделённой любви художника в стиле триллера и прекрасно подобранная музыка! :)

@MorraMorgenstern, согласна, но, заметьте, в книге у Безила была чисто платоническая любовь к Дориану, как к музе, вдохновителю, а в фильме её сделали не совсем уж и платонической! ;)

@IslandofInspiration, я читала первую редакцию романа 1890 года, и там Бэзил сообщает Дориану, что никогда не интересовался женщинами и признаётся ему в любви более живописно) Но тем не менее, да, такой конкретики, как мы видим в фильме, в книге всё же не было. Хотя я склонна считать, что, если бы не строгие цензурные рамки, в которых был зажат Оскар, он бы серьёзней развил эту тему. К сожалению, он не имел такой свободы творчества, какое существует теперь, в наше время

@MorraMorgenstern, извините пожалуйста, а где Вы приобрели ил прочитали первое издание "Дориана Грея"? :) Меня это очень интересует, т.к. я интересуюсь и самим романом и биографией его автора. Так же согласна, что в те времена цензура существовала и строгих порядков, хотя может-быть Оскар и хотел показать нам именно платоническое, высокое чувство - любовь, не касаясь её низменных аспектов. :)

@IslandofInspiration можно найти в Интернете. Не знаю, переводилась ли эта редакция на русский, я читала в оригинале на каком-то зарубежном сайте. К сожалению я не помню адрес. Но думаю, найти будет несложно. В интернете масса материалов по Оскару Уайльду и его творчеству, особенно англоязычных.

Wow I really like the way you have tried to develop a story between Dorian and Basil and I wish it were the same in the movie as well. It was supposed to be so atleast.

And excellent choice of song too. It renders the whole story a new meaning and depth which sadly I think is lacking in the movie itself.

The only fault is that u havn't set the clips at a fast enough pace to suit the song.

You should have used clips frm the trailer of the movieit is faster paced and has that darkness in it.

Wow, this was a great video. I love Dorian Gray, the book the movie, the whole concept of it. I was very afraid that they were going to leave out the whole homoerotic theme (because, let's face it, it's typical of the movie business), so I was absolutely thrilled with the obvious Dorian/Basil - relationship in this movie. The compilation you've made is just beautiful. I don't bother to comment on videos a lot, so you can be sure I really liked it! Great work.
