The problem of sexting is that the law has'nt caught up with the technology. To charge an underage girl with distributing child pornagraphy and accusing and underage boy of being a sex offender is laughable. What should happen is the school should report that behavior to the parents and let them deal with it.

The point wasn't the teens BS statistics,which honestly were way off and not credible (have these kids conducted actual studies? no. All they know is what's happening to them) The actually numbers are more around 30-40% of teens in high school engage in sex. That's pretty surprising, considering the "everyone is doing it" attitude. but the point was to make it known that teens do in fact have sex and that education is the best option rather than shaming.
That 99% thing is an extreme exaggeration. I knew most of the people in my year (about 150/250 or so) well enough to know that at least half of them hadn't even had dates, let alone sex. This wasn't that long ago, and our school certainly wasn't conservative.

Age of consent here is 16, in Quebec. But, we also have close-in-age exceptions. 14 years olds can have legal relationships with somebody who's no more than 5 years older than them. Is there really any problem with trying homosexuality if you are unsure? I know people who have tried and realized they were gay and some that weren't. Don't get me wrong, it's not for everyone but if you are seriously confused about it isn't trying it a good thing?

He had sex with her and everything. But after a while he realized that he preferred guys. Not everything is simple. Some people struggle with things like that in life.

Sexuality is a big gray area. Most people confused by their sexuality think that they must be GAY or STRAIGHT or even BISEXUAL, but it's all just more complicated than that. Don't try to reason with attraction. If you are interested in guys, don't question it or worry about it too much. You shouldn't fear trying that out, but that doesn't mean you can't identify as straight.

I wouldn't take what the boy says about only three girls he knows not having sex at the age of 16 on faith. Some girls as with a lot of boys will boast about having sex to make them more grown up or to impress other kids. That said I wouldn't discount the possibility that they have either. You really have to question the legitimacy of the claims certain people make sometimes. The boy may be sincere but naivety can possibly play it's part here.

what i think parents (or whoever) should tell you is that the first time pretty much sucks for most people and it takes a while to get into properly.
also, while it's no longer a tabu (at least in most societies today) it's still a very important aspect of your life and if you just jump head first into it "without checking the depth of the water", there is a chance you will regret it and even suffer mental trauma for the rest of your life.

All they know is what's happening to them) The actually numbers are more around 30-40% of teens in high school engage in sex. That 99% thing is an extreme exaggeration. I knew most of the people in my year (about 150/250 or so) well enough to know that at least half of them hadn't even had dates, let alone sex. This wasn't that long ago, and our school certainly wasn't conservative.
If asked out front by a stranger, teens (guys especially) will lie and say they've done it to increase social status.

You know, for once I can say that the province of Quebec has something partially right with their laws.
Age of consent here is 16, in Quebec. But, we also have close-in-age exceptions. 14 years olds can have legal relationships with somebody who's no more than 5 years older than them. As bad as that might sound to people, at least it stops the ones who actually have genuinely feelings for each other from feeling like they're freaks for having "forbidden" love.

But what I find really interesting about our consent laws is that you cannot legally have anal sex until you're 18. I never quite understood the logic behind that.
