  • Hell yeah, im getting mine this weekend!, s&w thats is,lol.

  • Is the forward assist on the colt gun actually functioning or is it just for show?

  • @SKITAHOOD It's just for show. There isn't a need for a forward assist on a .22LR. In this case, if we were to need one, I suggest a good cleaning. :)

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • What kind of scope did you have on the colt?

  • @CrazyAssassin16 The scope was an older "Barska", ACOG style clone. It is nothing special. But at the time, I wanted an inexpensive option for my .22's. Surprisingly, it is actually a pretty descent scope. It has always held true. Even set up on my AR15, it has performed flawless. The newer ones, they tend to fail more than they perform. I guess I just got lucky when I bought it.

Thanks for watching and sorry about the delay in response.

    Dyno

  • Love my S&W, threw a scope, hogue overmolded grip, and vertical fore grip on it and its my funnest plinker yet. Accurate at 50 yards, havent tried 100 yet.

  • @NotDavidM Cool man! Keep in mind, if you can see it, you can most likely hit it with the M&P 15-22. It's accurate beyond 200yds. The Hogue grip really does a great job on fitting the gun to your hand as well. Happy shooting! Remember, buy extra Mags! It doesn't hurt to have a few on the side. :)

    Thanks for watching,

    Dyno

  • thanks for the video. i'm looking at these 2 guns, and I think I will go with the s&w

  • @DeathMetalFunZone Good choice!

  • Nicely done!! I just bought the S&W M&P 15-22 and I love it.

  • @StratoCruiser007 Glad ya liked it. :) I've always wanted to ask someone who has sen the review and bought the rifle, is it all I said it would be? :) Just curious.

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • Yeah we have been looking at this gun for a while for her. She does like to shoot, I think she will love it plus the ammo is so affordable for this rifle.

  • i'm going to buy this gun for my wife

  • @smokesum24 If she likes to shoot like my wife does, she'll love it. Don't be surprised if you do as well. :)

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • I think I am set on getting this new S&W, thanks a lot Dyno for the good review

  • @asmitty892 No prob bro. Next to my 10/22 from circa 1985, this is the only .22 I would truly depend on. Just my thoughts and opinion. You'll not be sorry when you get it.

Just make sure you pick up a few extra mags. 25 rnds goes quick when you're having fun. :)

    Thanks!

    Dyno

  • good review. thanks for taking the time to post this video.

  • i want to buy my first rifle and i dont know which one to get,the colt m4 22 or the smith and wesson 15-22,il think il got for the colt since its mostly metal but aswell its bolt release dosent work, what do you think?

  • @sam123852 go with the S&W. It's a better all around rifle. Being you're first rifle, you might as well feel confident in your choice. :) This is an easy first timers rifle as well as a great rifle for the seasoned shooter.

    Dyno

  • Thank you for posting this, I am on the fence about getting an actual 556 (Bushmaster ACR) or an M4 22. Your review of the S&W was very helpful.

  • nice video man, I love the S&W! It is a fun gun and love to be able to shoot without worrying about all the money I just spent on ammo. gotta love 22lr

  • I have the s&w and i am thinking about getting the scope u have on the colt. Is it worth it?

  • @Austinhasaraptor Yep, totally worth it. Bu,t I wouldn't go with "Barska" these days. Poor quality control in so many of the lessor expensive scopes will only leave you frustrated due to accuracy issues. In scopes, it's true, you get what you pay for. I'm running a Vortex "Strikefire" red dot on my S&W's. $149.99 USD is what I paid and I love it. I have 4 of them here. AR15, PTR32, and 2 on my S&W's. Awesome optics for the money. Not cheap, but not overly priced either.

    Dyno

  • Dyno please answer me, so which one is better for maintenace ,accuracy and weight (lighter for me means better)

  • @muang2 I have answered this question so many times. S&W is in my opinion, the best choice. More accurate, easier to maintain, more durable.

    Thanks for watching,

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 wats the price range??

  • @thatredneckbrandon i would i love it, make sure you load the mags right half of the people that buy them complain about failures too feed/fire, don't know how to properly load the mag, you only pulldown the assist button just enough to load the next round and theyll stack perfectly

  • Can you make a video of proper maintenance?

  • @1369jeejee I'll see what I can do. I have been asked a few times to post one. I have one here in my files, I just need to edit the size to make it work for YouTube. Cleaning the S&W is really easy to do. Just clean the barrel just like you would any other rifle. Make sure it's UNLOADED, Pick up some cleaning solvent, Hoppes #9 works. Run the brush through the barrel a few times, (1 way only). Run a clean patch through a few times, then if you want, send a barrel swab down the pipe. :)

    Dyno

  • @1369jeejee In the mean time, shoot me an email and I can send ya back my method of madness when it comes to stripping and cleaning the AR platform.

It's Bow season and soon to be firearms season for deer. I'm pretty tied up for the next month. :) Still fighting injury, I am trying the crossbow this season. :)

Drop me a line and I'll help ya out.

    Thanks.

    Dyno

  • 3:30 was that full auto?

  • @ownthenoob55 Nope, but I do wish it was. :) I don't have the proper licenses for FA here in Michigan.

    Thanks for watching!

    Dyno

  • I have both. The Smith is much more reliable(the colt jams constantly),but the Colt will give much better 100 yd accuracy. Yes, i have tried everything to make the Colt work better. But,the Colt feels like my M-4,nice heft to it

  • I have both. The Smith is much more reliable(the colt jams constantly),but the Colt will give much better 100 yd accuracy. Yes, i have tried everything to make the Colt work better.

  • Anyone... Can you use that lower on the M&P 15-22 and put a 223/5.56 upper on it? Plz respond

  • @BeWiPo No you can not interchange the upper/lower with a 5.56/.223. Would be nice though. :)

    Dyno

  • nice vid dude ansld semper fi!

  • I just wish colt would have left the bolt catch off. Call me crazy but I don't like fake parts on real guns :) great video btw

  • I have this magpul version. Was thinking this rifle would have actually been bad ass if it was 22 mag! :D

  • Dude, the colt has a fake bolt catch!

  • HAVE A GSG-5-22 AND REALLY LIKE IT . I ALSO HAVE A S&W-M&P 22 AND WAS COMPARING THOSE TODAY. I HATE THE TRIGGER PULL ON THE S&W AND THINK THE ATI IS MUCH BETTER. HAD ONE PRE-MATURE FIRE WITH THE ATI AND IT SMOKES ALOT ON THOSE DARN REMINGTON VALUE PACKS. DONT USE THESE IN THE ATI. CCI WORKED BEST. MY S&W SEEMED TO EAT ANYTHING I FED IT .

  • Which feels mite like a legit AR? The colt or the m&p?

  • @jpap967 I'm going to say the Colt has the "real" feel between the two.

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • @jpap967 M&P functions most similarly to the AR. Even in the video, he said the Colt Bolt release doens't work.

  • This review was great. I got the M&P 15-22 and couldn't be happier. Thanks for the review of both the M&P and the Colt

  • 2:42 ...... he has a big dip

  • @clownkilleradam Heh... If my can wouldn't have ran dry on me, I woulda had a bigger "Dip" in. :)P .

  • i held one at an outdoor store and the butt felt a little short against my shoulder, is that the case when shooting it?

  • @SaltyFish101 It's not so bad while shooting it. Though, I did swap my stock out for a CAA. I like the feel of it and in a pinch, the CAA has a 4-cell battery compartment that will hold I believe 22, 22 LR rounds. They're in there, I just feel like dumping them out to count them out. :)P Overall, the S&W is still by far my most fav .22LR to shoot. I've got 4 of them here, 2 rifles and 2 pistols. When company comes out and asks to shoot, the S&W's are always the first to be taken from the rack.

  • arghh the aspect ratio

  • I would like to see more of the weapon in the video. It was out of the screen most of the time. Unable to see break down. other wise ok.

  • @keith64093 Hey there Keith, I'd love to show you more. But unfortunately, I am unable to send any more shots down range due to the extent of my shoulder injuries. My last couple of surgeries didn't go as well as hoped due to my insurance cancelling me 1 week after the surgery leaving hanging for the past 8 mos. I just don't have the strength. I thank the cunt bitch's at Chartis for those moves. Best Christmas ever thank you very much. Check out other vids for detailed shoots on the S&W.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 really enjoyed your review, just purchased the exact same m&P 15-22 rifle. went thru several rounds cycled perfectly. any tips on what optics to put on there, not a fan of the iron sights

  • @motowannab Excellent! About the sights, it all depends on how you plan to shoot. Are you looking for precision or quick sight acquisition? That, and how much are you looking to spend? As for myself, I am a "Red Dot" guy for my up close and rapid response target acquisition needs. Rabbits on the run, steel plinking spinners, etc. I run a Vortex Strikefire for about 150 bucks. If you want precision, drop a compact 3-9x40 on top and that will do you proud out to 100 + yards. ($69+Bucks)

    Dyno

  • Just wondering if you tried the MP15-22 Performance Center with the fluted barrel. Curious to see how it affects the accuracy of the round (if it's greatly more accurate or just moderately so).

  • @corneredfox In my opinion, the rifle is about as accurate as it needs to be for what I use it for. It's not a "Bench Rest" rifle. What I would like to change, is the "trigger group". The barrel offers an accuracy better than most aftermarket barrels out there for the Ruger 10/22. Having something aide in trigger control will definitely better your precision on your target. Personally, that will be my next addition to the 15-22. a new trigger group. I hope the opinion helps.

    Thanks

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 Thanks, that actually did help quite a bit. I also searched some of the previous messages and you mentioned Stinger ammo brought out the best in this gun, which was another question I was going to ask. Thanks for the vid and the replies, helped a lot.

  • Thanks mate, i appreciate your feedback, thanks.

  • I have been deliberating about which of these to purchase but your video and others have pretty much sold me on the S&W. Is the S&W available with a flash hider or can it be installed as an aftermarket option? Thanks for the vid.

  • @ffcbulldog666 Hey there, thanks for watching. :) The S&W is available with or without the flash suppressor. When you pick one up, hit Gunbroker and find some extra mags while ya can. :)

    Dyno

  • is this a pellet rifle i tried searching umarex S&W M&P 15-22 and found nothing

  • @gucciluke14 Nope, these are both .22LR rifles. It's a fun way to spend a few bucks at the range verse spending your weekly paycheck on .223 rounds. Check out the Smith and Wesson website directly. It's out there. As for the Colt Umarex, I believe that site is colt22rimfire. They're fun for sure.

    Thanks for watching

    Dyno

  • Hi dyno, I live in ny state. Is the colt considered an assault rifle? If so what qualifications do i need to purchase one? Ive completed a hunter safety course i am 16 and i have all the neccissary ID. Would u reccomend it for shooting small game? Where did you buy the fore grip/scope?

    Thanks

  • @mrrockso117 Howdy, You'll have to contact your state police or better yet, a local gun shop to be schooled in your local laws. "Some" would consider this an "assault" rifle. Then again, those who do, don't know their head from their ass. :)P I believe you need to be at least 18 yrs old to buy one of these. Again, find a gun shop, they'll help you out. As for small game, I believe there are better choices for small game over this. But it's cool looking. :) Just a bit heavy IMO.

    Thanks

    Dyno

  • @mrrockso117 HEY!!! I wrote that up too quickly, The M&P 15-22 would be a perfect for small game hunting, the Colt Umarex in my opinion is a bit heavy. You can get a CA/NY compliant model M&P 15-22. They run just over 500 bucks. The Stock has been pinned so that it doesn't move and you can only have 10 round mags. Get yourself familiar with the iron sights, then toss on a nice 4x32 scope. The M&P 15-22 is killer accurate.

    Sorry about the confusion.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22

I've seen your previous comments, but in the chance you do know the answer, I'm going to ask the question. Do you know if this is compliant with an MA FID?

  • @RjMacProductions Sorry man, I don't know the answer to that one. If you're able to check out some firearms sites/forums for MA, you may find the answer there. As far as I know, the only states that restrict are CA and NY. Don't quote me on this one, but I believe you are o.k. Did you get a list of state restrictions when you received your FID? Outside of a local Gunshop, the State Police would have the answers.

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • P.S. @RjMacProductions Also, NJ is one of those funny, near "Anti" places for firearms laws as well... Cites/County laws also fall into play as well. Check out "Local" resources. I can tell ya all about Michigan, everywhere else to me is a matter of Google searching. :)

    Dyno

  • Nice video! Really thinking about getting this gun for some small game hunting and target shooting. Can't wait! Very helpful information in the video

  • @cbaze19 You'll love it and be glad you picked one up. When you do get yours, make sure you get extra mags, there's no telling when and if the current Admin will ban the high cap mags. Banning a .22 hi cap mags is about as asinine as putting handle bars on a horse. But that doesn't stop the jerks from taking away things they have no understanding of.

    Thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • i think im gonna hit up my gunshop and trade in my beretta 9mm for one of these..

  • So why is your rear sight on backwards and too far forward?

  • @lange22250 Have you ever seen photos of someone who has loaded a magazine with the last bullet in backwards? In a Forums group that I belong, it's a running joke. In that group, I had a guy swear a AR wouldn't shoot accurately with the rear sight backwards. I honestly never thought about it so I decided to do it and prove that I did. It doesn't matter if it's forward or backwards, the only change is how the windage is adjusted. Killed two birds with one stone errrr... video.

    Dyno

  • Well done & very helpful. Just looked at one & I'll get it tomorrow as this little very economical sucker looks like a blast! My grandkids can get their own..lol!

  • @davonwav Well, thank you for the compliment. You'll enjoy the heck out of it. I've all but retired the Colt to the gun safe and this one is my all around plinker and small game assassin. :) Depending on where you're at, pick up a few extra Mags for it. (Gunbroker) At 20-23 bucks a pop, get them while you can and grab a few Federal 550 packs from Walmart. Over the past 1.5 years, I've watched them raise their cost from 13.97 to 18.97 a box. Tell the grand kids to buy their own ammo too!

    Dyno

  • would the 15-22 accept a different caliber upper receiver?

  • @aether020685 Not at this time. The receiver is proprietary to only the M&P 15-22 line of firearms. Who knows, S&W may come up with something for it. :)

    Dyno

  • thanks a lot for the advise Great video!!!

  • sweet upgrades to the coltt yea it would be a good idea to switch them im just starting out and i looking to get the smith and wesson!!!

  • @dudekool12 Oh, the Colt has been striped back to it's factory look and now resides in the vault. :) The S&W has stolen the Colts thunder and all of it's lightning. :) You're going to love either one, but when one see's and feels the S&W while shooting, you'll be happy you went with the Smith. :)

    Dyno

  • Lol @ Colt earwax.

  • @TheMilitaryfan97 Yes, in my opinion. It is. :) If you happen to pick one up, don't go all "Rambo" and rapid fire the rifle until it's been broken in. (This one, at least 200 rounds sent through the barrel.)

    Dyno

  • i just bought the m&p 15-22 today but mine has the flashguard and a scope. i love it but will have to wait to shoot it. glad to see you using the federal rounds cause that is also what i bought.

  • @FixedByDoc Congrats! You'll be happy with the Federal rounds. I've compared them with every other brand of .22LR ammo on the shelf. Some "may" perform better. But for all intensive purpose's the Federal's from Walmart are the best choice to me for reliability, accuracy, and cleanliness (powder residue) that I've run through my .22's. Now, at $18.97 for a box of 550, it's still the best deal out there. (I still have boxes with the old $13.97 price tag on them.) Stock up when ya can. :)

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 awesome cant wait to shoot it.

  • great review, picked one up a week ago and i love it already ran about a 1,000 rounds through it with no problems. nothing beats the price of running .22 compared to good o'l 5.56. and with the smaller calliber I can shoot i alot at more indoor ranges that wont allow most rifle calliber rounds... Semper Fi

  • @Bostondevildog03 Glad to have been of service Brother. I've sent well over 10k rounds through mine. It never gets old. From paper and steel swingers to Rabbits and Tree Rats. (And deadly accurate in the right hands.) It takes some folks a bit to get used to the trigger on these, but it can be easily swapped out. (Which I've done.) Grab mags as you find them, the Democrats in office are trying to ban the high cap mags. Permanently. It's a .22 for "F" sake. Better grab em when ya can.

    Dyno

  • Thanks for the useful review!

  • Thank you for bluntly stating which you prefer. I like Gunblast.com, but because the guns are sent to him by the manufacturer for review, he feels obligated to speak only positively.

  • @TROOPERfarcry Sorry for the delay. I too like Gunblast. I didn't know about the GB site until after I posted my video of the Colt Umarex M4 OPS. I can't say whether or not manufactures send him goodies for review. I wish they'd kick a few towards me. I had to buy all of mine. So, there is definitely no "Padding" going on here. :)

Thanks for the positive feedback. It's greatly appreciated.

    Dyno

  • its definitely not earwax

  • @jayandjake Yeah, I know that. :) It was more of an inside joke over here. :) A feeble attempt at being humorous. :)

    Dyno

  • wats a good scope for the colt .22? i just got one the other day and shot 500 rounds, and only had 3 miss fires

  • @HondaRidercrf150r I'd recommend getting yourself acquainted with the iron sights first. Then ask yourself if you want long range shots, 50 yards and above or the closer more everyday type shots. For distant shots, I'd say go with a simple 3-9x32 compact optic or if you're looking for something that offer quick site acquisition for say, tree rats or rabbit, go with a red dot. But these are my preferences and opinions. Personally, I prefer red dot optics. Rabbits and Squirrels hate me. :)

    Dyno

  • Hail Dyno!!! How are you? As you know by now, I like "checking in" with you and thanking you for your help and recommendations. I am still shooting (February 1, 2011), STILL HAVE NOT HAD A FAILURE TO EJECT AFTER FIX LAST YEAR BY S&W!!! I am SOOOO happy with this gun. NO PROBLEMS AFTER I SENT IT BACK TO Smith & Wesson!!! I'm talking about 4,000 Rounds of Federal Bulk 550's that you recommended. I usually am sckeptical about recommendations and take them with a grain of salt- glad i listened 2 u!

  • Hold the presses!!! I meant to say, "I put about 13,000 (thirteen-thousand) Federal Bulk 550 Pack fodder into this gun WITHOUT a single 'failure to eject' after I sent it back to S&W 3 weeks after I bought it". You can look @ it in one of two ways: 1)Disgruntled they sold you a gun that had this issue -or- 2)They fixed it free of charge and paid for shipping, so great. I look @ it like this: the extractor problem was minor-SO WHAT!!!!! THE GUN IS FANTASTIC! I RECOMMEND IT!! C U KING DYNO!!

  • which would be a better buy? i notice the colt is about $100 more, but is it really better? I'm planning on buying one of these but don't know which..

  • @JusLenny Some how the question was posted twice, I removed one of them. :)

The Colt is a hundred bucks more. IMO, you're paying for the name. That's it. I like both of these carbines. But it's not a hidden fact that I prefer the S&W 10:1 over the Colt.

The S&W is just an easier gun to maintain. If you're a mag whore like me, the mags are 10-15 bucks cheaper for the S&W. In my opinion, the S&W is more accurate due to it's match grade barrel.

Both are cool to shoot. The S&W just has my heart.

  • Thanks in part to your video review and comparison, I bought myself an M&P 15-22 at a local gun show last weekend. Cost me $420 + tax, so it was actually similar in price to buying it online then paying a transfer fee. Plus this way I got to bring it home the same day! Took it to the range Sunday and it fed/fired flawlessly with Remington's "Golden Bullet" bulk .22LR ammo. It was tons of fun to shoot and simple as pie to field strip and clean when I got home too. I HIGHLY recommend this rifle!

  • @SpringfieldGarand I'm glad ya like it. It's my favorite .22LR these days. :)

One thing to keep in mind about shooting Remington ammo. In resent years, it wouldn't fire from these new style "tactical .22's" it was too waxy and dirty. Well, it appears they've fixed the "waxy" nose issue. But they are still one of the dirtiest shooting rounds for the .22 in my opinion. I only shoot them out of my Ruger Single Six revolver.

Stay Safe and thanks for watching.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22

How do you safely clean bullets? Obviously you can't get them wet so should I just use paper towel or something? Is there any oil to use on them?

  • @Grungadin Ya know, I have never been asked that one before. I'll say, carefully. :)

When the come packed from the factory, they are already up to the factory specs intended for that batch of ammo.

Now, I suppose if you had a pocket full of .22LR rounds and you had a hole in your pocket and they all fell out on the ground, Scoop them up, Keep them separate from other rounds, as you have time, wipe them down with an oil spritzed cloth, not too much. A little surface moisture wont hurt.

    Dyno

  • haha wen i broke my sig 522 down the buffer and the buffer spring flew out and chipped my tooth aall because a stupid e clip didnt work properly :( but sig 522 hasent had a failur to feed yet and i have atleast 1000 rounds threw it great gun and price at buds gun shop 375$ :)

  • @gunnerzz100 Well Jeeez man, We already have to wear Ear and Eye protection, who woulda thought a Mouth Guard would be in the mix too!

I've always been tempted to buy the Sig, but feeling I already have enough .22's. I stopped after the S&W's. I like the way the Sig feels. I just never liked the way, as you found out, how it broke down to be cleaned. The S&W's are "caveman easy". Plus, they're American through and through. :)

Buds is a great place to shop, good people over there.

    Thanks

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 yea i never would have thought a firearm investment would include a trip to the dentist :) but the only thing i dnt like about the sig is the weight this is a heavy .22 but i guess that can be good if your intended POU is a training platform for the sig 556 rifle but a good rifle i cant complain thank you for taking your time and replying to viewers

  • @gunnerzz100 No need to thank me for responding, ;) You just happened to catch me at a good time. :) I try to reply to any and all comments posted. I have heard too many complaints from my viewers that others channels don't won't respond. I'm offering what little help I can because I love the sport of shooting. That, and I know there are quite a few Politicians out there who are disgusted by the openness "we" shooters have. :)

Don't forget to get your mouth guard now. (ahem... hehe)

  • Devil Dog

  • Are the stock and the pistol grip and foregrip on the S&W and colt interchangeable with all the rest of the standard ar-15 accessories? Are the they both identical in scale to a standard AR-15? i was planning on buliding a AR and put a 22lr upper on so i can later add a .223 or another caliber to it but i might just use these.

  • @nightsniper101 All accessories are interchangeable. The upper receiver pins (S&W) are not exactly the same as the AR platform. So, with these, the S&W, they can only, always be just a .22LR. The Colt Umarex, is the same way. With the exception of the trigger group, it's proprietary with Umarex only. Whereas the S&W is exactly the same as the AR platform.

Save a headache, buy a complete AR .223 and a complete .22LR. Prices have dropped now, it's worth having 1 of each. (IMO)

    Thanks,

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 alright, my biggest thing was being able to interchange accessories. yeah i know you can put either of these uppers on any ar15 . is the S&W M&P 15-22 the same lower as they use with the M&P 15 just added the 22 internals? yeah thats what im going to do now, ya its definately worth having both these days with all the stuff going on, will go great with my XD (M).

  • @nightsniper101 You Wrote: "yeah i know you can put either of these uppers on any ar15 ..."

These uppers are proprietary. They will NOT fit any other AR15 lower. The front and rear pins will not line up and the buffer tubes do not contain plungers or springs.

Check out Gunbroker, the prices are quite cheap these days, AR's going from 599 and up, M&P 15-22's 399 and up. :-) Both for the cost of 1 AR just a few months ago.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 sorry about that i ment to say you cant put either of the uppers on a lower. yeah i plan on getting a 22 soon. i was going to get my ar for my last gun as a varmint rifle but decided on a bolt gun because it was more acurate and i didnt have the money to buy a sub-moa AR. AR carbine will be after the 22. Thanks for the info.

  • @mytactical22 @mytactical22 alright, my biggest thing was being able to interchange accessories. yeah i know you can put either of these uppers on any ar15 . is the S&W M&P 15-22 the same lower as they use with the M&P 15 just added the 22 internals? yeah thats what im going to do now, ya its definately worth having both these days with all the stuff going on, will go great with my XD (M).

    Thanks for the information.

  • This is one hell of a rifle, i plan on buying one here in the next couple of months, i have a squirrel problem around my house!

  • @OutDoorsMen32 Hey Ya Bro, Merry Christmas to ya. :)

I "used" to have a tree rat issue around my house. Now, I have a Black Walnut, Acorn, and Hickory nut problem. lol. I think I may have "thinned" the herd and bit more than I should have. Scoped, they don't stand a chance out to 100 yards. Anything less, it's just not fair. :) Once you get used to the trigger pull that is. I had a gunsmith friend of mine spit and polish, spring swap the trigger group and man it's smooth.

  • Fantastic video. Thanks for this review. My father-in-law has the Colt and he loves it but I was considering the S&W after seeing it and handling it at a gun show today. Spending the money to build an AR-15 just to shoot .22LR is not cost-effective when you can buy a purpose-built AR-style .22LR rifle for just over $400 instead.

  • @SpringfieldGarand In years past, I have purchased a few of the .22LR conversions that are on the market. They are "Novelty" items in my opinion. I've been asked many times why spend 400 on a dedicated rifle when a lot of the conversions are less than 400. Well, "Reliability, Accuracy, and the cost of the Mags" are the reasons. I love my M&P 15-22's. Shoot one and you'll see. Break down the Colt and Compare it to the S&W, you will also see another reason I choose the S&W. : )

    Thanks

  • what would happen if you adjust the bolt speed for a .22HV but use a standard .22 long?

  • @markssite I can only guess on this one. I've never had to adjust my Colt/Umarex. By leaving the adjustment set for the higher velocity ammo and shooting the standard velocity ammo, you may encounter more fail to ejects. Again, I don't really know what one would have in store if one were to do this. Perhaps, nothing would happen at all? I'm happy with the setting mine is at, and it shoots everything but Remington. :)

  • Guys, lets slow down. Buy the S&W MP-15, your 223 rifle, and get one of several 22 conversions. One sells a conversion and 3 25 rd mags for $199.00. Im sure these are great guns but I saved every $100.00 bucks I could for a registered machine gun. Thats when you get real giggles.22 upper,9mm upper and 223 upper.

  • @Mroldmcdonald1 *evil grin* "dint" stand in front of my muzzle. hehe..

  • I'm looking at getting the M&P this weekend. My local store is having a sale for $399. Do you still like it. Any failures? I love how it is an exact working replica of the M4.

  • @centurionsquad "Do I still like it"? Man, I've never stopped love'n it!

I wouldn't say it's an "exact" replica of an M4, but it's really close. I own 4 of the 15-22 series S&W's. After the repair was done on the pistols, they all run flawless.

  • Cool vid I'm think I might get one

  • @usmc158 It'd be worth it. : ) It'll keep your trigger finger happy!

    Dyno

  • ima buy one of these someday already have a stag st-model 1

  • @StAgMaStA1 "ima"? lol. Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm not used to seeing the whole "gangsta tough guy" speak here on my page. : )

For as often as you are able to shoot your "Stag", it;d be worth picking up one of these so you can at least get out there and shoot more often. The .22LR is a cheap shooter vs. shooting 5.56/.223. That will break your piggy bank for sure!

    Cheers

  • @mytactical22 how is "gangta tough guy" and what i said have to do with each other? im not a gangsta i live in the country listen to country music not rap i dont where my pants around my ass.... and i buy golden bear ammo its cheap as hell and runs great thru my ar

  • what you chewin? lol. So in your opinion is the smith & wesson better?

  • @mustangman223 I prefer the S&W myself. All around, it is in my opinion, a better and more reliable choice. They're both fun to shoot. But overall, I'm taking the Smith. :)

    Dyno

  • Umarex? Erex? Earwax? lmfao

  • @THEKINGOFMETROPOLIS lol... I knew someone would get the "joke". I stumbled and didn't want to retake that one. hehe...

    Thanks for watching!

  • Thanks for the review.

  • @LieutenantIDan Nope. The colt is different in so many ways. Outside of the basic appearance, nothing else is the same. IMO, the S&W is far superior.

    Dyno

  • @LieutenantIDan you don't need a red dot for a 22lr. Get proficient with irons sights before you buy any optics.

  • @THEKINGOFMETROPOLIS +1 to that.

@LieutenantIDan The irons are so easy to use on these M4 type carbines. You'll have your eyes trained in no time at all.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 - Might be old school but I always try to master the iron sights of any weapon before I even think about an optic. Yeah I've got an S&B short dot on my M1A but i probably fired 2000 rounds through that rifle before I mounted it. I feel like some kids nowadays are spoiled with their $30 red dots. Some just want that tacticool look before they even have gotten to know their weapon's capabilities.

  • @THEKINGOFMETROPOLIS No, you're not old school bro, you're "Practical". I agree with you 110%. But, with todays generation of shooters, alot of them have the "Xbox" gene. The video games all offer some high end type of optic. I guess "we're" a dated source. lol. They didn't have those options when I first started shooting. It was irons or nothing to be followed later by a nice glass optic. hehe.

I have a PTR MSG91 w/ Ziess Conquest Z-1000, wish I had gotten the M1A instead. Lucky Dog!

  • This was a very helpful video. I watched this when there were very few videos on the M&P 15-22. it convinced me that I should buy one. I'm very happy with mine and have had no problems. It's very accurate and a lot of fun to shoot. Thanks for the helpful advice.

  • @trytotakeit Sorry for the delay, this last surgery hasn't gone very well, more pain than I expected.

I'm glad to have been of service. Doesn't look like I'll be able to go out and go assassin on any rabbits this year, but man o man, this one sure does a great job. :)

    Enjoy.

  • YOur pretty cool dude. Can I just say, someones gonna be very unhappy this Christmas, They are flying off the shelfs like hot cakes. Not last year or nothing either. Last week my dealer sold his whole stock, So as far as ordering more I don't know, but its the best foot forward America made in ever. Only to help, in your case, Santa needs to buy your wife one already? And you, a shooting tree and timer. How's that for fun? Yes I have way to much to say, and will make my own video.

  • @hangemhigh2000 A dueling tree would be sweet! Unfortunately, I simple don't have the strength to shoot these days. Maybe by late spring/early summer all will be good, until then, I live vicariously through my viewers. :)

    Thanks for watching!

  • Hello good friend...DYNO FOR SECRETARY OF DEFENCE!!!!!!

HEY DYNO, IT'S BEEN AWILE AND WANTED TO CHECKIN/THANK YOU FOR INCREDIBAL advice...listen Dyno- i still have NOT had any issues such as failur to EJECT. mY GUN ACTS FLAWLESS. NO FAIL TO EJECTS!!!! I SENT IT BACK TO s AND w AND THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM, ONE OF WHICH WAS THE BOLT SPRING WAS TOO WEAK? it would shoot 2 bulletts simultainusuly. Now- NO PROBLEMS SINCE!!! I AM SO HAPPY. btw- HOW R U? SHOOTIN ALOT STILL? YOUR VIDS rock!!!!

  • @rickydaniele Hey there! Glad to hear you're big boy toy is running smooth. I hate hearing about the bad issues out there. But, it happens. :)

As for the Sec. of Def. Job, I'd take it if we were under a more promising administration. This one's a joke and simply ready for the curb. hehe

As for how I'm felling, well, there isn't enough space to describe how I fell these days. lol. Lets just say, I'm not to happy with the fact I can't even hold a pistol up to shoot.

    Good to hear from ya,

    Dyno

  • Nice video man, well done

  • @chrishdman Thanks man, I appreciate it.

    Dyno

  • Can you buy an alluminum upper and lower for these or are you stuck with the polymer?

  • @99STM No need for an aluminum receiver for this one. :) The Polymer is just fine. Look at the Styer AUG, the thing is pretty much ALL polymer plastic and it's a .223. :) One of the best tactical shooting toys still in use by at least 7 different countries. :)

    Dyno

  • as far as looks the colt is near identical to the real AR 15. the S&W doesn't have the "forward assist" or the "dust shield" the quotes mean they are fake but just for looks. thats probably why the colt weights .95lbs more. ive shot both and own a colt but i cant tell a difference. just for new buyers for the colt get the ops model with the rail system because if not the aftermarket colt rail system is $170. thats a little too much in my opinion and why i zip tied a flashlight on mine :P

  • From walmart!?!?!?

  • I had questions a few pages back a while ago. I ended up with a 15-22. What a blast!

  • @Rattles02 oh crap! Sorry about that Rattles. I try to answer all the questions that come my way. I get notices through my Cell phone email.

I'm glad you've got yourself a new "Big Boy Toy". Out of all of them, I like the 15-22 the most. :) Now you just have to stock up on Ammo. I keep a minimum of 10 boxes of the Federal 550 packs on hand. : ) I can go out and blow out a box in a weekend and won't have to drive back to the store for more later. hehe...

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 I know what you mean. I had a good stockpile until I went out for a couple hours 2 weeks ago.

  • @mytactical22 Hey! my friend do i need a license to purchase this gun and if so what type of license.i live in canada by the wayand i'm 26 and i really want to buy this gun. i look forward to hear from you soon thanks in advance

  • I think for tactical style .22 rimfires a sig 522 is the best value because it seems to be most like the .223 version it's based on than the others and it's at the same price point of all the other wannabe AR15s in .22LR What turns me off about the M&P is the plastic recievers, and non threaded barrel. It seems like they could have and should have made it more like a true AR15.

  • @Antiworld23 I too like the Sig. Though I don't own one. I wouldn't turn one away if one came my way. : )

Having a "Plastic" receiver shouldn't be a deterrent for anyone. Glock, HK , FN, Bushmaster to name a few, have been using Polymer in their designs for years. The 15/22, it's a .22LR. No need for more unless your taking it to war. As for the threaded barrel. The 15-22 comes with options for threaded or non threaded. I've got both. : ) What turns me on about the S&W, American made.

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 well said! i agree the 15/22 is great. proud owner since jan 2010!

  • @SuperJeremy25 hey man i was wondering did you have to send yours in for repairs? i really want to jump in and buy one but i dont want to have all the issue's everyone is having also any info would be great thanks

  • @redmule02 i dont want to jinx myself but no mine has been great..id say youd be safe buying one now..the earlier models were the ones that messed up.

  • @Antiworld23 Friend I would agree with you about the clones not being so good with the normal options. I think maybe the reason is to make them generic enough so they can be sold in most places. You know some states have crazy laws about rifle ect. As far them being made from plastics it does make them seem cheaper, and makes them cost less to build. Some more then others. Some of the newer rifles like the Bushmaster ACR /SCAR L use polymers in there makeup. Did not mean to get off post. Best, yl

  • i have this same gun, it blew up in my face

  • @intentx I've heard of a few of these having that happen. I'm guessing you were rapid firing when it happened? I've got a few of these and haven't had an issue. (Thankfully, so far so good.) I did have years ago, my Ruger 10/22 blow out on me. Ears rang for a week. Scary. Didn't keep me from buying more Rugers :-p Just taught me to slow down on the rapid firing during the break in period. Wish I knew that before I decided to go Rambo with my 10/22. hehe...

    Thanks for watching!

    Dyno

  • @mytactical22 correct i was rapid firing some of the rounds wearnt extracting i should of took a hint... but i kept going and parts of the bolt blew out leaving a shredded casing in the bore

  • @intentx Here's what happened. When one rapid fires his/her .22LR. The extractor begins to "Float" and becomes "out of time" with the rest of the action of said firearm. Causing the dramatic Ka Boom in your ear.

Alot of users did this and had the same effect. Funny how most blamed the rifle over taking time to "Notice"shells weren't extracting properly. Kinda like hearing your car knock and you take it to the race track and blow the engine. If ya knew there was a prob, why add more stress? :)

  • @giguchan NP. : ) I also have a Bushy AR15. I wish I had a place and money to shoot it more than a few times a year. Which is to me, the reason I love shooting the S&W's. Cheap and great practice. My GSG-5 is fun to plink with.
