  • Hi Carl,

I also have an Icom IC-703 and I'm doing some research for an easy antenna system to go along with this transceiver. I live in big city in a studio on the 3rd floor but luckily I have a flat roof in front of my studio (5 by 4 metres). How do you think the I-Pro traveller could perform there (10W tx)? Can it be left standing outside for longer periods (can it be used as a base station antenna)? What is the bandwith with the optional 40m matching centre installed?

    Thanks

    Daniel

  • Hi Karl bought the I-pro from you it works great, took one minute to set up its was virtually plug and play with 1.1 swr easily obtained. Have worked all over europe 20m qrp with 5 watts with 5.9..reports and 50 watts to stateside no problem

    Many thanks Ken 2E0KJW.

  • @MrKennnyj Hi ken I'm pleased your enjoying the I-Pro Traveller, It now has a big brother the I-Pro Home and will be available soon!

  • @MrKennnyj par end fedz antenna - 5 watt with 59+ regular reports in europe - 5 watt in to stateside - had report of +20 italy 5 watt - cuba 5 watt 58 report - worked asia 5 watt - par end fedz little cost - i - pro very expensive.

  • too expensive - par end fedz better with big performance little money

  • looks great got 703 on the way for qrp need a good aerial for it, this could be the one ...Derek

  • Hi Derek, you have made a good choice, the IC-703 is great for portable. With a supply of 12V you won't see more than 8 Watts(10 Watts needs 13.8V). Effective portable operation with this power level requires top end radiation efficiency. And you guessed it, "that'll need the I-PRO"

    Best regards

  • Good job Carl, that antenna seems to be the "cats backside" HI! Great video, that whole system would make a great emergency portable kit and would not take up much room in a small vehicle.73,Don,VO1XH
