  • This song keeps getting stuck in my head!!!! XD

    Aaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!

  • David Brent for Regional Manager @ Scranton!

  • He actually owns this song with his voice!

  • Things like this make me have an insane obsession with Ricky Gervais.

  • we've all got our funny moods... I've got mine... WOMAN you've got yours too!

  • I need to get some of those white PJ's.

  • "No you won't...nooo!!!" Pure Genius...

  • Genius

  • He actually has so much power in his voice. Sure he is exaggerating. but I want to see Ricky sing more

  • @B1ushMoe check out his old band youtube.com/watch?v=zXhSqmfRTfY

  • I'm fan of both version of the Office. However I was always disappointed by the US office due to Michael Scott never singing.

  • I love this man

  • Whohohoaaa...it's like bloody Bobby Womack in there. Hilarious!

  • Why all the comparisons to the Uk/US versions of The Office? Ricky Gervies and Steve Merchant wrote the seires that eventually became a global phenonima anyway, and each took on its own unique twist, which is fine and to be expecteded. This song/video is simply a comic interpritation of one of `david bretn`s ` ideas depicted in the UK version of his desire to relaese a pop record/video which the character did once made redundant from W/H. We all have ideas of what we`d do goven he chance!

  • who is the woman in this video, name please

  • Hi, maybe someone can help me. I'm looking for the clip where David and Garreth talks about Davids music career. They talk about how many records he sold and what the production cost was etc. I think i've seen it on youtube before but now i cant find it again. If anyone know where I could find it, feel free to write me.

  • "DAVID FUCKING BRENT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!"

  • my favorite part is the "yea" 2:05 XD

  • this is not funny

  • what's funny, is that Ricky Gervais was actually a lead singer in an 80s New Wave band Seona Dancing...before becoming David Brent.

  • That gesture at 1:36...

  • geesh.. people comparing.. IMO the british one is just brilliant, it's truly amazing. It's amazing how well they made ackward moments/embarrassing moments. at times i couldn't watch because it felt so real!

The american one is more like.. just regular comedy, It doesn't have the same genius the british one had, but that's just my opinion.

    /A Swede

  • The British Office is amazing. But I think the fact that the comments on every video of the British Office compares it to the American one and the comments on every video of the American one just talk about how damn funny it is shows that the American one has nothing to prove. It's funnier. I'm British.

  • Fucking brilliant.

  • hahai freaking love it!!

  • bad clip, bad singer. the original or the one from simple red are good.

  • This man is a fucking genius.

  • The way he sits in that chair on 1:46.. priceless :-)

  • Is this filmed where they film Dragon's Den on the BBC?

  • this guy should be the new manager on the office instead of the douche bag they've got now. david brent is crazy funny on lou ck, but the new manager on the office sucks almost as hard as ashton cutcher on 2 1/2 men. then again, that show was never funny anyway so no hard done, right?

  • Hilarious

  • The length of his sleeves make him look so ridiculous. Hilarious.

  • Smerch and Gervais are fucking geniuses! I love the US Office but the UK one is just another level. I guess the fact that it ran for only two seasons made it tight and special.

  • musical ambitions accomplished...

  • the uk version shits all over the amercant version.

    PERIOD

  • lol

  • this is far better than the US version! If you say both versions are good, it's just because you know the UK version is best.

  • This guy is genius!! about the which version is better crap, british and american humour is just different, personally not a fan of the american one...but i am british.

But here is a fact, it is a british series..americans copied it, just like they coppied shameless, being human, eleventh hour...and many other british series, so to all the yanks claiming there versions are better..keep this in mind!

  • "If you don't know MEEEEEEEEEEE!"

And when he releases that fucking dove...

  • Fuck the office haters (US or UK) there both freaking AWESOME !!

Knew the US version before the UK but love them both !!!

Ricky gervaise is nothing like Steve Carrell but they're both awesome !!

  • Carrell can't hold Gervais' jock.

  • @Pops150 Good, because that would be sexual harassment.

  • @JoyNoelle8H Why?

  • People learn the difference between a satire and a comedy. A satire means to make you laugh through heavy sarcasm and irony. The US office is just a comedy meaning to make you chuckle by witnessing outrageous scenes and funny lines on screen. Satires like the UK Office try to make you recognise the tragedy portrayed on screen..adding to the comedic effect. Both are good at what they do.

  • People learn the difference between satire and comedy. UK Office is a satire meaning a much more sarcastic and ironic portrayal of everyday people and life. The US office is just a comedy meaning to make through witnessing outrageous situation and funny lines. A satire means for you to actually experience the realistic tragedy that is being portrayed adding to the comedic effect.

  • Right, both versions are funny. I think people who act like the British version is so much better and the American version is awful probably haven't seen very much of the American version.

  • this was amazing. but i've grown to like the US one more actually

  • like everyone that is sane i like both versions

  • nevermind US v. UK office debate. THIS VIDEO is one of the funniest things on youtube. pitch perfect soft rock satire.

  • both amazing shows. huge fan of both and I've watched the U.S. office a ton. but I don't think anything can beat the original U.K. office. They broke the mold with that. Gervais is a legend. No need to fight over the two shows.

  • The "Eye-to-eye"- gesture is so hilarious! :-)))

  • He sues the company for wrongful termination and wins, takes the big payday, cuts a single "If you don't know me by now", and makes a video! He sold 20 copies! PURE GENIUS! David Brent is one of the best television characters ever developed.

  • love this video he is so sexy in it... yeah hes old enough to be my dad i dont care i think he is is gorgeous. Pause at 1:18 and you can see the outline of his boxers.... this video is amazing and kinda well quite sexy ;-)

  • omg this video is genius in so many ways, all those little things that just crack you up!! Love how he overdoes it in the end, at the same time you have to admit that he's a really good singer :D

  • @lu04maha he was in a pop group in the 80s lol

  • Wish the woman was featured more. She has some big ones.

  • If MTV played videos like this, I might actually watch their lame channel.

  • LMAO!!!

  • HAHAHA! :D

  • Every line he says always ends with a aaaaa

  • Love the soulful looks at the camera.Spot on.

  • This is hot. <3 lol

  • kinda looks like it was on the set of the Dragons Den. haha

  • Pure genius! I am a big fan of The American office and when I first seen the DVD cover of the original, I didn't think I would like it. After 10 minutes of the first episode with David Brent, I became an instant fan of Ricky Gervais and the original series. If I had to choose one it would have to be the British version, but they are different enough to each be perfect on their own. The British series has a more serious tragic tone than the American one that is more of just a quirky comedy.

  • @shelly10538 You are so right with that comment. I felt the same way. I kept myself "pure" until I could watch the UK version first, before watching the US version in its entirety. They are both indeed hilarious and enjoyable in their own unique ways, and I agree about the tragic feel for the British version vs. quirky for the US version.

  • Comment removed

  • the 'eye to eye' thing is classic!

  • Hahaha! 3:16

  • 2:38

  • OMG! LMAO!

  • Gervais = genius

  • Agreed. This is a riot!

  • as a fan of Simply Red i find it even more hilarious ;) Love Ricky

  • i think the british office si genius, but i like the US version too

  • oooh sexy

  • I remember watching every episode as it came out and following the story line, this was one of the funniest moments I almost pissed myself

  • best comedy actor ever...

  • He should of released Freelove Freeway. That would of sold.

  • What i dont understand is why it only came in the top 400 ....awesome!

  • This is just B R I L L I A N T !!!!

  • AMAZING

  • if this guy isnt a genius, i dont know who is

  • The bit that cracks me up the most is the way he is sitting there hunched in the chair around 1.40.

  • 1. What is with those awesome capri pants???

    2. Can I please make this my new ringtone???

    3. I. Love. Ricky!!!

    4. Brilliant!

  • My dad wanted to follow the fat family into the house of mirrors to see what they would look like.

  • @slannmage

Haha was this on an XFM show or a Podcast?

I listened to Karl talking about this the other day and as I listen to them all the time, I can't ever remember where and wen he says what.

  • EPIC!

  • As Karl would say...."right"

  • LOL! Thanks, Ricky!

  • Treat the world like a head

  • when I read Ricky's blog and he said "well I always have my pop career to fall back on" I was hoping that the link would be to a seona dancing video...haha...I know he'd like, never do that but watev...luv this! x

  • Michael Ball - The Lovers We Were - watch it totally the inspiration for this vid.

  • He got hot

He got so hot his lips fell off

  • ricky sent me!

  • is that going on karl's quote? does that work? is he right?...

    what did he say?

  • ricky sent me

  • I saw a cockroach playing Pacman.

  • between a fish and a dog

  • is the girl in the picture the one that comes with the frame?

  • LOL, nice pj's.

  • there's a shadow somewhere,

it was pushing people off the bikes

  • I like this version of this song abit more than all of the rest.

  • Fucking Genius!

  • ...got to love this much effort to take the piss. But quietly show you can sing the odd note as well. Quick nod that way sir

  • The funny thing is, there are certain third world countries where this could pass off as a genuine music video.

  • And here I thought Ricky was linking me to him and the Blacksmith ripping off Bowie. :P

  • Very 'Neil Diamond-ish'.

  • this for number 1 lol

  • Not as funny as the Peter Andre advert for Unconditional Love Songs.

Wish I was there when that was shot. Incredible.

  • nothing is left to case

everything he does has a reason!!!

the painted eyes and all the moves, he's a real genius

  • genious.

  • no you wont.... no

  • wish they made one more series :(

  • That picture looks like it came with the frame.. lmao.. I love this dearly..

  • I never knew this song was by a real singer, i heard it at a restaurant the other day and all i could think about was David Brent dressed in white lol.

  • Hilarious, but I love 2:30 - 2:40 - "if we can't see eye to eye" and he's pointing at his eyes!

  • British Office is SO much better than the american.

  • @3Jammy Yawn....they're not in competition, and Gervais/Merchant worked on both

  • @3Jammy I'm so sad that they have more seasons of the American version vs the British one.. The UK version is clearly superior!

  • @3Jammy God you people are annoying. Can't you just admit the both US and UK versions are hysterical in their own way.

  • @GuitarGod119 No... I can't. The US version was okay at the beginning but then really jumped the shark. The UK version was always better and it stopped when it should have.

  • @GuitarGod119 No they're not equally good. American version, as most of American humor, is dull.

  • @cherrorist God damn you people truly are ball-achingly annoying. FYI, Gervais himself adores American humor and, ACCORDING TO HIM, his own comedic style is based on American comedy. Just watch any interview of him.. he has said this repeatedly. That's why I can't help but laugh when people reference Gervais and then say American humor is crap.. take your head out of your ass and shut the F up.

  • @dan428 You know it in your heart that I'm right.

  • @GuitarGod119 No. The US version, especially in it's current state, isn't even comparable the the UK version.

  • @GuitarGod119 the american one doesn't know when to end

  • @ryan101XD exactly. The best line to end on was Michael Scott's "let me know if this thing ever airs."

  • @blueman612 haha that would have been a perfect ending

  • @GuitarGod119 Cheers to that dude.

  • @3Jammy I don't think it should even be allowed to name them the same...

Steve Carell is a funny guy and all, I like him, but it's just not nearly as emotional as The Office. There was a bitter taste to every episode that just sinks in without you even noticing.

The main thing that made The Office so brilliant (apart from Ricky Gervais) was the directing. Such realistic portrayal made you feel like like you were part of the show.

The Office US is just a funny show about a charismatic clown.

  • @3Jammy Sounds like someone has an inferiority complex.

  • @3Jammy yes because it's original, witty and full of surprises, not like your comment.

  • lol amazing

  • legend

  • "Take another look momma"

  • He truely is hilarious.... Full stop! End of story. Stand up - David Brent. And to think the guy lived for years in a studio apartment with his partner until his mid 30's broke. hahah GO RICKY!

  • He's funny in whatever he does whether it's The Office, stand up comedy or talk shows - jealousy is a hard thing to deal with...

  • Excellent! The subtlety and finesse of Gervais's comedic genius is a wonder to behold - not surprising that not everyone can appreciate it as it was intended to be appreciated...

  • Genius!

  • Is it supposed to be serious or funny cos it's too funny to be serious but not funny enough to be comedy really.

  • @CCSofChocolatesvill it's supposed to be a comedy yet like a documentary. so it's like very subtle comedy

  • you must have really lame taste in music to 'maybe' take this seriously.

  • Well if you would call The Beatles, Led Zepplin, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors,Oasis,Queen, Radiohead, the stone roses and the Smiths, "LAME" then I guess I have.

  • Not lame, just extremely boring and clichéd.

  • you obviously don't understand Ricky's comedy then

  • @AndrewBMcKay

    2nd

  • I believe this was tied into an episode of The Office (UK Version). I haven't seen it in years but from what I remember, the office manager, David Brent (Ricky Gervais), had a brief but failed career as a pop singer. This was the video for one of his songs. It's supposed to be a cheesy, overwraught, self-serious cover of a cheesy song, which fits in perfectly with Brent's character. I agree that it may not be that funny to someone who hasn't seen the show and doesn't know the context though.

  • It appears in the Christmas Special where they talk about what David Brent has been doing since he left Wernhym Hogg. He says he got a settlement from WH, which he used to produce this song and music video.

  • Yup you don't get it at all do you

  • FOREGONE CONCLUSION!

  • HAHA his face when he releases the dove

  • I was liturally crying laughing at this, the biggest most funniest 3 and half minutes of pisstake i have ever seen.

Ricky gervais/david brent take a bow.

  • Gervais is some kind of comic genius XD

  • cabernet sauvignon

  • Comedy Mastered!

  • 2:07 'yeah' fukin hilarious

  • loooool his onstume is ridiculous ahahahha

  • 0:55

that woman looks trashy AND gaudy. And she's taller than him it turns out

  • 1:27-1:40

    XD

i think my sides just split

  • He is sick haha!

  • Hahahahaha so fukin funny the dove bit cryin wiv laughter lol

  • CAB-A-NAY SOW-VIN-YON

  • i had tears in my eyes watching this

  • Check out the understated macho "rockism" at 2.05 when he says yeah!!!! Brilliant.

Shame juxtaposition records didn't have the clout needed to promote brent on his debut release!!!!!

  • Great adlib at the end, off the stool, ROFL

  • This is just soooo unbelievably funny!!! Love it!!!

  • soooooo gunny i have both seasons of office (UK) but dont have bothe seasons of extras and i want them

  • I never noticed the girl in the picture was his boss! I love Ricky Gervais so much. almost as much as i love Stephen merchant
