  • Can't believe it went as long as it did. The guy in black only scored like one time and blue boy was all over him timing him the whole fight.

  • @lionpride422 Hell yeah they are. those carpets are hard ass hell to move around

  • this was awful

  • dang! to the hook kick

  • Just curious but are fighters allowed to grap the legs of the opponents (say the opponent is kicking them) and push them onto the ground?

  • @kombatmaster7 depends on tournament and organization, some you can only sweep front leg to follow with a straight (or what have u), and some tournys u can catch and sweep base leg to follow with a stright to the body while the opponent is on their back.

  • Im so booored...

  • good ONLY for points sparring/competetive sparring.

would never work on the street.

the kid in the blue fell to the floor 2 times because of his little hook kick strategy.

in real live, the kid in te blue could have possibly hit his head on concrete, or broke a wrist/elboy, while the kid in the black would have been stomping on the blue kids face.

  • @Catfacemcgee ya man, go pick a fight with one of us little point fighters ;)

  • @Catfacemcgee shut ta fuck up this is a sport not a street fight,,, we dnt need ur comments ur a youtube joe rogan,. except no one cares bout ur observation, we do this for fun, and sport.

  • @Catfacemcgee Point sparring is a sport , not a street fight , if we wanted to go street fight we'd learn different tactics for street fighting. The tactics for point sparring are completely different from street fighting. please stfu you fail troll.

  • Very good.

  • 0:41 was a sick kick!

  • yeahthe kid in the blue has talent man. im onyl a purple belt, but i hope i can kick like this someday.

  • That really is a nice hook kick. I like how he rocks his upper body back. Good evasion with a nice 2 points. Clean.

  • fundaberg yer a bunch of bull s***... i dont think u ever point sparred... point sparring is no joke at all.. u do get hit hard.. ive been doing it since i was 5 and im 14 now.. yeah point sparring u DO get hit..

  • fight a good point fighter and see if its tap and run bullshit.

  • tell that to lyoto machida

  • bad habits only in full contact. Different rules, different fight dude

  • Point sparring teaches a fighter to hit and not get hit. It also helps with speed, accuracy, and agility.

and you do get hit hard

  • What's with the loud "ohhhhh!" every time there's a clash...I hear this alot at point fighting matches.

  • hahaha. yea that is shitty sometimes and can cause the refs to stop and give you the point. then other times it's like a big/loud hit in football and the crowd's reaction

  • Props to the kid in blue.

  • i am a point fighter...but also a wrestler, all forms of martial arts help regardless in a real fight. It all helps you learn to control your breathing, and get you comfortable with being in the situation. But in a street fight depending on the situation im not sure if you would want to take it to the ground like the other guy said get it over with a quick as you can but if you get taken to the ground you need to know how to get out and up quick.

  • the guy in blue is so much more aggressive than the other one

  • i mean just look at 0:48

i thought the one in blue scored because he made it so obvious that he hit the other guy. but the judges gave the point to the one in black because he tapped his head just right before he got hit.

  • actually...my instructor started as a point fighter and he turned and later on he became a world champion in kick boxing...mma is another animal thou but to make the transition from point fighting to kick boxing is not that hard...but Lyoto Machida was a point fighter for WKF and he is kicking ass in the UFC....he made tito ortiz look like a chump

  • this shit is garbage. for real fighting, youtube search for "JKA Kumite"

  • I'll check it out but this is a sport...teaches you alot of counters...sure is not a real fight but all the techniques could be used in a real fight...also i dont think all the dojos only focus on point fighting....at least not where i train...the only time we do point sparring is at tournements or before one

  • dude there are alot of shotokan fighters doing this...i fought one on continues sparring and i completely dominated him...shotokan is point fighting too but they allow take downs...the only difference is that this is an open tournement and in shotokan tourneys only shotokan fighters could fight

  • Man forget all that sweepin and sh**! My instructor was real. He tells us that if someone gets close enough to grab you and take you to the ground, then you need to have yo ass done like that. He taught us how to get up, a couple of tosses and holds, and how to open up a can on someone. Im not taking anything away from yo style or anything but refuse to let an outsider do likewise. So pad up and get in a Texas AOK adult black belt mens fight wit me and we can slug it out. I've seen knockouts boy

  • who are you talking to?

  • well obviously your instructor has some soword of grappling back ground...although the can opener is really easy to scape...i believe that anything that teaches you how to put ur oponent down is worth studing...

  • It is and you could be right. He taught us a few (lower than novice) moves, but look at it from this persepective.... You begin at a white belt learning how to hit people without being hit right? You learn how to use and maintain safe and striking distances. Now you want the student to get close and have a series of grabs and counters to those grabs? It kinda doesnt add up. Just like those flip kicks you see in nontraditional forms which prove useless in sparring. I guess Im just too old school!

  • yeah i understand what you mean but in a real world scenario ppl wont always have room to keep a good distance...i just think is good to knw how to fight inside and out...a few sweeps and throws from the clinch would always help

  • Oh of course it will and does help. I wish I learned a little bit mroe. But my instructor always expressed that he didnt want to teach you to be on the ground alot because it will make you feel more comfortable there (and you shouldnt feel that way). And other people get a kick in on you even though they have nothing to do with it. That is also a real world scenario. I know you seen a few school fights like that where others get a kick in .

  • yeah i knw what you mean...grappling is good for one on one but more then one and you are in big trouble

  • Not so obvious.

The second mr. groundfighter takes pointfighter down he gets his face smashed in by Pointfighter's friends.

  • impressive but most of the points scored would be horrible idea in a real fight

  • i don't know much about martial arts. but the guy just rushes in with the guy in blue. he just lunge a haymaker. like it is just like a street fight

  • i kinda miss doin dis.

  • Dude Point sparring should be a Olympic Event.

  • fuck yA!!!

  • i agree point sparring is very fun, u learn alot and also good excersise

  • i love point sparring =] who else agrees

  • It's horribly unrealistic from combat. It is fun, but I wouldn't use it as a serious gauge of skill.

  • well yea obviously.. but the timing the speed and others are things that are great in any fight

  • its not unrealistic, it teaches you to land first and land fast.

  • It also breaks up the fight after a point is scored.

It also doesn't fight on the ground.

    It also isn't full contact

It also doesn't involve any close range fighting what so ever.

It's a game of tag. An over protective, glorified game of tag. If you want to learn real fighting, spar with full contact and armor on.

  • point sparring can be full contact.

    combat 32 for example.

tehcniques you see in point sparring are as effectve as any other techniques in any fighting.

    a blitz for example.

most full contact fighters would be too slow to counter, and if ur good enuff you can hit some1 hard to enough to finish a fight befores its begun.

secondly ground fighting for all its mma glorification doesnt work.

try putting a guy in a lock on the street, and his mate will come and stamp on your head.

  • the guy in black NEEDS TO SWITCH THAT DANG LEG!!!!! geeeez

  • the whole "pumping" tactic the guy in black keeps throwing is so freakishly lame, predictable, easy to beat, and distinctly taekwondo.

  • the top point fighter in the nation is a black belt in tae kwon do and he is fighting very succesfull in kick boxing...the kid in the blue is a lil more dinamic then the guy in the blue...probably more experienced...doesnt mean that the kid in the black cant get better...dont hate

  • Tts like a jab with your foot. Since your really aren't using your hands in point sparring since its easier to use your legs without successful retaliation then your hands.I understand your view that since these kicks have no power and arn't applicable to self defense situations. This is a sports competition, different from others. The goal here isn't to knock your opponent out but to get them before they can get you. Thats point fighting.

  • No i see where your coming from, and I understand that point sparring is a sport, and that since the primary objective of this particular sport is to score points with controlled contact rather than knock someone out, that changes the techniques that are used. I just think that sweeps should be allowed so that kind of rediculous pumping wouldnt be as common.

  • fight...the guy in front of you would never get any where close to you...is a pretty good technique to set up your hands also...WATCH CUNG LEE THROW SIDE KICKS ON MMA FIGHTS

  • sweeps used to be allowed..idk what happened to it...i guess ppl wants to see the fancy kicks

  • Hell no there arent any sweep kicks! Man we dont do any of that ground fighting. Now the groin kick should have been exploited on both sides. It hurts and gets you points. Then again it prolly was the opposite year for that. And yea refs judge off the crowd mainly so either be fancy and get close, or be clean and hard (my favorite). The guy in blue definitely ran the fight though. Unless you are a GREAT defensive fighter, or need to, be aggressive cuz it hardly ever fails. Good job both guys

  • I was replying to you and the others

  • A side kick is very usefull in a real fight...the guy in front of you would never get any where close to you...is a pretty good technique to set up your hands also...WATCH CUNG LEE THROW SIDE KICKS ON MMA FIGHTS

  • but can easily be evaded by coming in with a raised knee...

    but must involve good timing...

  • yeah that's true...but the side kick is really good when someone is attacking you...is a good counter to most techniques and stops you on your tracks...but if im doing it offensively you could bl0ck it with a raised knee..you are right

  • yeah of course the side kick is awesome! i have used it inside and out side my gym...actually i have a vid of me doing it to my friend...

  • Yeah, nice hook kick. Shame the other guy didn't cotton on to this favourite technique and block it more effectively. The guy in blue also has a very effective reverse punch, which will always get you points in point stop fighting.

  • agreed
