I remember reading an article about Shelley Winters where she said her husband Tony Franciosa got deeply involved w/ Ava in this movie and he actually stayed out late with her on nights he should have been sleeping. Shelley confronted Ava on the set one day, told her to keep her hands off Tony and threatened to get some of the "Murder Incorporated"mafioso she grew up with in Brooklyn on Ava's case if she didn't.

Who is that black child Ava is hugging at:32? I 've seen this movie but it's never been clear to me this little girl's relationship to the story line.
Ava is the tops! Just watched a bunch of Marilyn Monroe clips. She was ravishing too; but she had nothing on Ava! And Ava is from North Carolina, my home state. Makes me proud.
In my humble opinion none of the actresses of today can compare with the beauty and star quality of Ava Gardner, simply the most beautiful, stunning woman ever to walk the planet! They just don't have the mystique of old Holywood.
I don't understand why people compare them. They are so different. Though Jolie is beautiful she lacks many qualities Ava had. For me Jolie is one of many. Ava is unique.
