before sesame street, this was all we had as kids. I recall the ancient cartoons he used to play. They were sometimes politically incorrect. (the black and white cartoons, with natives with the bones in their hair, etc.)
I remember they used to play another song when Polycarp would come on in the morning. It wasn't sung just instrumental. Brings back good memories when I was a kid growing up in Lake Charles.

I grew up in Lafayette and watched Polycarp every moring before school, i moved to CA in 82 and have left my cajun roots but have asked old friend thru the years if they remember Polycarp and no one ever did...I remember how he would walk up to the store every morning and there was the swamp background with oil rig..the local boyscout troups would be on the show or maybe a Duncan yo you champion.. Great memories, i'd give anything to see film of it..
