Exo Squad was an amazing cartoon, for its time, and for all time. It was very adult in its themes despite its gearing towards children and merchandising. I remember, in the early 90's, waking up at 5am on Sundays to watch it in Canada. It was Exo Squad then Teknoman.
I love RARE shows like this. I wish The Hub, or CN would get blocks of these to air on weekend Mornings. Imagine the ratings they could get. All of us retro fans now have kids, nephews, etc.. We would watch, then get the kids in our family to watch. Networks would make money on shows they don't pay to produce now. I wish Discovery was open minded enough to make it's HUB network more available to basic channel line ups for those that don't want to buy or who can't afford higher tiered packages.
that tomato cartoon would get me so mad as a kid. i'd have to manually change the tv channel when it came on cuz someone hid the remote. and when my parents told me it was based on a movie that THEY knew about of course I didn't wanna watch it even more. cuz you think you're so much cooler than your parents when you're 8. ha.
omg, ACTION MAN AND BATMAN BEYOND!!!!!!!!!!!! I though Action Man was cool with the idea that he could see the true theory and technique like Neo in the Matrix; pure knowledge. I know, sounds weird but I have used Action Man in many philso classes in debates about what knowledge is. Funny how cartoons have deeper meaning sometimes.
@smoth7 Cartoons in the 90s were generally really bad. Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes? Seriously? There were only a handfull of OK 90s cartoons, and even fewer good ones. Batman was an awesome one, The Mighty Ducks were lame LOL. Peter Pan And The Pirates looked cool, I never watched it or knew it was on. Pirates Of Darkwater had a ton of fans. I didn't watch that one either, but I've heard good things. No decade will ever top the golden age of animated greatness from the 80s.
Dude, I am 30, I know they were bad in the 90s but exo squad was pretty cool, not often we get power armor cartoons and you should watch darkwater you will end up lamenting the fact that it never got an ending >:|
"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" is based on an R/PG-13-rated movie series...yet it's a kid's show...yet you have the villains ogling a sexy babe...ow...brain hurt.
@texformer well, i don't really know, all i remember is that they were good and they showed them through the 90's and early 20's i think, but i not shure
You saved the best for last :D The Pirates of Dark Waters was uber epic and beautifully done. If I ever make the cash, I'm buying the producer's rights and nail every competition in today's stupid shit abstract design cartoons.
That's what's up I rember so many of those shows todays kids aint got nothin to watch man hollywood need to get they minds right and start doin some writtin
batman of the future and the mask were my faves i vaguely remember the last one pirates of dark water not sure what channel it used to come on in the uk though
@Zamolxx Look up these terms for a cartoon of greatness, Visionaries cartoon, Have to use those terms, or you might get back a bunch of non related stuff.
I saw the the Batman Beyond intro for the first time in 10 years (I think). I've got to say. As a kid I thought it was awesome. Now that I'm older, I KNOW it's badass! That intro... damn! I got chills!
I still couldn't find the show I was looking for, can anyone help? I forgot the name of it. It was about a anthropomorfic lion who used a plane to hunt treasures all over the world for an employer with two friends.
You might never have heard of it, I don't know if it was aired in America or not.
You said it! I couldn't agree more. That was a show where, you actually learned something, you could use in class like those important facts at the end of each episode; The whole show in general you learn things...... Yeah i miss that show too.
oh my gooood...I got goosebumps by watching the very last intro "The pirates of dark water" .Thank you for reminding me for that great show...aaahh the memories..
Talk about epic shows. The Mighty Ducks cartoon took a cheesy, family friendly trilogy about underdogs rising up to the occasion through all obstacles and turned it into an epic cartoon about ducks flying through space fighting evil doers.
THE MASK was seriously one of the funniest shows ever made. I used to watch that cartoon everyday when I got home from school (I was younger those days)
i find it funny that they changed the mighty Ducks from a bunch of kids playing hockey to a group of intergalactic ducks that came to earth to stop evil
wow. i still can't believe they based a cartoon series, and a good one at that, on that halariously low budget movie, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. And it was good. just like all of the other gems on this montage. Lets face it, when they changed Fox Kids, it was all down hill from there, not just for fox cartoons, but for cartoons as a whole.
All better cartoons that the dross spoon fed to kids these days. I remember if not watching then at least seeing most of these at some point in my childhood. I imagine the original plot writers had to retire at some point, and the new crap ones took over. Even the mask, probably the weakess of the lot, is more impressive that some of the guck on TV now. I never got to see ExoSquad when I was little, being in UK land, but I saw it not long ago, and it was like Battlestar for kids (i.e. good)
seriously, these current cartoons sucks badly,Flapjack is awfull at best,Dinossaur King is just a child anime with isnt even funny,My Gym Partner is a monkey is funny sometimes, but still fails most time, what happened to the old cartoons?not only these he showed, but also the likes of Jonnhy Bravo and Dexter's laboratory?
Is it just me or a lot of these old cartoons (1960s-1990s) are way too overglorified? People act like they are the best fucking thing since sliced bread when in actuality many of them were just as crappy as much of the stuff on now.
Holy fuck, have you all watched these shows in a long time? With the exception of Batman Beyond, these cartoons were pretty awful. You only like them because you grew up with them and they remind you of your childhood.
Go for it...but what I said is actually true. Look all over the internet. A lot of these cartoons are way too overpraised even though they are nothing special, they are nothing groundbreaking, just run of the mill kids cartoons.

I miss Batman Beyond. Definately one of the coolest intros. It was actually a pretty good show, but hardcore batman fans would never agree to that. LOL!
I to liked Batman Beyond. Thsi is a hardcore fan speaking here by the way. I thought that it was an interesting take on an ageing Bruce Wayne just like Frank Miller's Batman Dark Knight Returns. Awesome Intro. I agree.
I loved Batman Beyond. This by the way is a hard core Batman fan Speaking. I felt that it was an interesting take on an aging Bruce Wayne . Him training someone who comes from nearly the same background as himself. Frank Miller's Dark Knight Returns with a bit of a twist. Great T.V.
How could you forget Batman The Animated Series? No true child of the 80s/90s could EVER forget about that show! More shows you could use would be: Thundercats, He-man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Chipmunks, Samurai Pizza Cats, Ghostbusters, The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, Transformers, Pink panther, G Force, Speed Racer, Robo Tech and Voltron. Those were some really classic cartoons (even if some of them did come before the 80s/90s).
i always wondered wtf was up with the mighty duck cartoon. IT had nothing to do with the movie. How do you go from a movie about a team of underdogs who win in the end to a show about musculer talking dicks with weapons who fight aliens.
Oh so many more I could mention you didn't put on your list, or any video, in fact you are missing two videos, you should check on these cartoons: dinosaucers, thundercats, he-man, teenage mutant ninja turtles, batman animated series, alvin and the chipmunks, chip & dale, samurai pizza cats, punky brewster, ghostbusters, captain tsubasa, dragon ball, saint seiya, yogi bear, top cat, the flinstones (adult), transformers, mazinger z, pink panther, g force, ed, edd & eddy, speed racer, just a few.
a couple suggestions for pt 9. The Goof Troop. Captain Planet.animaniacs (pinky and the Brain)i dont remember the name but it used to come on with garfield and friends. it was about farm animals, i like that one too
Exo-Squad needs more respect. That was an awesome cartoon that hit on some of the same themes friggin' Battlestar Galatica does. Cartoons aren't made like that anymore!
You did a great job! I really shouldn't complain but there are actually a lot of famous cartoons you forgot: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Robocop, The Bugs Bunny Show, The Real Ghostbusters, Rainbow Brite, Care Bears, The Jetsons, Original Mario Bros. (before Super Mario World), My Little Pony, Pac-Man, Babar, Addams Family, New Kids On The Block (yes an actual cartoon), Recess, Slyvester & Tweety Mysteries, The Little Mermaid (series), Magic School Bus, Life With Louie, & Powderpuff girls.
So many 80s & 90s cartoons were so great, unlike what we have today (ABC's pathetic Saturday morning cartoons). I think it started going downhill when so many Pokemon imitations came out in the early 2000s and then by mid 2000s they eiiminated all weekday cartoon broadcasting!!
Dang! It's like cartoons don't exist anymore in network television! Like they say, "You don't know what you have 'til its gone."
Heck yeah, Exo squad! Definitely my favorite cartoon ever. Such complex concepts as race, politics, and war, and all in a kid's cartoon XD? If they hadn't been obsessed with airing it at 5:30 in the morning.. it probably would have gone longer than one season. Alas.
Thats bull where was street sharks, ninja turtles, speed racer, gundam, whacky races, godzilla, smurfs, snorks, the jetsons, lonney toons, kablam, scooby doo, roboot, max steel, transformers, Thundercats, ren and stempy, goof troop, the simpsons, road runner, dexters lab, josey and the pussy cats, jabber jaw, aqua man, and space ghost, roadrovers, but other than that it was good
I agree with you, but you have to remember this user must have dedicated SO MUCH time to finding all of these cartoons! You shouldn't be so harsh! LOL
I think there was a short-lived show called Captain Power. You hold the toy of the character to the show and a part of the toy or the base lights up. It was kind of stupid. Anyway, when they tried to remake classics into 3-D like GI Joe (not even most the classic characters, I think) and Transformers&they sucked, there was nothing really left. DBZ (&similar epic story anime, like Rurouni Kenshin) took the place of those for me. It was well made and funny. Remember Supercade w/.Atari shows?
wut about mutant league, road rovers, samurai pizza cats, MASK, gobots, heman, she-ra, Bionic Six, Centurions, Pound Puppies, Silverhawks Thundercats, Jem! and of course mr. T...id really love these
Exo Squad was an amazing cartoon, for its time, and for all time. It was very adult in its themes despite its gearing towards children and merchandising. I remember, in the early 90's, waking up at 5am on Sundays to watch it in Canada. It was Exo Squad then Teknoman.

Those were some really classic cartoons (even if some of them did come before the 80s/90s).

the mask *****.........for worst fuckin' song ever, hey thanks for these clips.

i always wondered wtf was up with the mighty duck cartoon. IT had nothing to do with the movie. How do you go from a movie about a team of underdogs who win in the end to a show about musculer talking dicks with weapons who fight aliens.

Exo-Squad needs more respect. That was an awesome cartoon that hit on some of the same themes friggin' Battlestar Galatica does. Cartoons aren't made like that anymore!

LOL the pirates of dark water one of the best shows on TBS.....or was it USA, I forget having seen the show in 15 years.
Batman beyond kicked all other Batman series hard and was by far as gruesom as the new Batman Movie.

This has been flagged as spam show
So many 80s & 90s cartoons were so great, unlike what we have today (ABC's pathetic Saturday morning cartoons).
What do you all of you guys think?
wxyzdetroit 3 years ago
Heck yeah, Exo squad! Definitely my favorite cartoon ever. Such complex concepts as race, politics, and war, and all in a kid's cartoon XD? If they hadn't been obsessed with airing it at 5:30 in the morning.. it probably would have gone longer than one season. Alas.
zerosaiyaman 3 years ago 2
I think Exo-Squad was easily one of the greatest action cartoons of the past 20 years. It's so sad the series never reached a true finale.

Guitargamer9206 3 years ago
I think there was a short-lived show called Captain Power. You hold the toy of the character to the show and a part of the toy or the base lights up. It was kind of stupid. Anyway, when they tried to remake classics into 3-D like GI Joe (not even most the classic characters, I think) and Transformers&they sucked, there was nothing really left. DBZ (&similar epic story anime, like Rurouni Kenshin) took the place of those for me. It was well made and funny. Remember Supercade w/.Atari shows?
fool1shmortal 3 years ago
Yup there was, in fact attack of the show did a short clip on it.
