My skill in piano is pretty much 90% self-taught since I was 15 years old, although I was interested in it much, much earlier than that.

My parents and I are looking into enrolling me in a piano tuition, mainly for me to get experience from someone else other than myself, so hopefully by the time I'm done with that, I'll be able to compose my own music pieces. =)

composers were commissioned by royalty and people with a lot of money to write the pieces they wrote. if you listen to african music, asian music, native american music, you will note a difference in the tonal patterns between the different cultures. it is between the notes where we find information about God, humanity and the soul. western classical music is mostly flat and sometimes remarkable, but i'll take blackfoot/cherokee chanting and prayer any day over a fugue by bach.
