  • Making us believe that Marilyn had expressed her opinion on Barber's music is unfair, you know...

  • Cuerdas,Samuel y Marilyn hermosos !

  • 5:04 was kinda freaky though

  • That was interesting,LOVED the music :)

  • profound and sublime matching of film and music. whoever executed this is highly intelligent.

  • monroe was an elite escort for da rich much more than she was an actress.

  • From the title, I was expecting to hear Marilyn commenting about her feelings on Barber, which would have been much more entertaining (and surprising)

  • @droid327 Yes me too, and on her deathbed too, going by the thumbnail

  • One can rarely forget such a marvellous piece of acting, beauty and music unless she or he is dumb.

  • whats that song?

  • @sstarlica

    Barber Adagio for Strings

  • Apart from the spinning head, a wonderfully uplifting composition. Well done and thank you

  • @pinklilly no one gets more than they deserve but what they worked for, i haven't found a single person that compares to her in any way, i'm not saying there are not good performers, i'm just saying she was one of a kind and that is why she is such a legend, she earned what she is(still after her death) for the way she was, not because of the stupid rumors around...

  • This melody, it speaks to the soul, to the heart, & to the mind.

  • She's pretty but there's a lot of beautiful girls I think her lifestyle and infamous death made her more than what she was however she is very attractive

  • Always one of My FAVOURITE videos on youtube. LOVE THIS

  • seriously? this is the weirdest damn thing I've ever seen. What fruitcake came up with this?

  • @nillocsivad Very much overused cliche music. Let the music standalone and not use it here or in war movies or any other pure bullshit "tributes."

  • I must say - this is inspired.

  • at first i thought this was gay but now i watch it all the time.

  • esta maravillosa pieza fue compuesta en una tarde , despues que al autor se le comunicara la muerte de un hijo de su mejor amigo (el niño creo que tenia 2 año)s

  • She's beautiful, but it's sad even she had to have some changes with plastic surgery to be even more perfect for society.

  • Indeed, all humans are worthy of this song. I would love to see a video of Adolf Hitler with this song, even though he would have labeled it as degenerate art.

  • This song is in Platoon. It was voted the saddest some of All-Time by some music magazine recently.

  • @dheeren62 This piece was also in Elephant Man.

  • @grandmagrumpy I remember seeing that movie in college for a class and thinking that the music was so sad and matched the scenes very well. Thanks for the memory.

  • the haunting beauty of Barber's music goes

without saying. the images of Marlin Monroe

    are no short of STUNNING

  • @SuperDrew72 A couple of years ago I talked to this guy who's dad was a screen writer and producer in the 1950's and he said Monroe had been to his house in New Jersey to read through a couple of scripts when he was a kid. He didn't know it was her then, he was about 8 or 9 years old. He found the pictures of her with his parents acting out some part in the living room of their home when he cleaned out his parents house after his mom died. His dad died in the 70's. She was a true beauty.

  • Marilyn Monroe was no cheap Barbie Doll or Coyote Girl of today. In the '50s, for an American girl to have both brain and beauty was unacceptable. She managed the best she could....

  • @sunidak I find it so sad that the media has attempted to soil Monroes image by linking her to JFK and RFK and commenting that she was depressed and the like. All of us are depressed at some point in our lives. The media forgets that she was human with human problems just like everyone else. I wish it was against the law to speak bad things about the dead without some very good proof. Those shows like Entertainment Tonight make me want to vomit.

  • B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!! i remember i heard this song on mu familymember's funeral. so sad it really fits her

  • wow, thank you SO much for this posting.

  • breathtaking, magnificent piece of music...

  • It's really funny that people equate this song with loss and sorrow. It is not a song of sorrow or loss it is a song about the lamb of god taking away your sins. Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. Lamb of God, you who take away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

  • @wolfinleather Most people equate the Lamb of God taking away the sins of the world with loss and sorrow. I just heard this song used in The Chronicles of Narnia radio dramas in the scene where Eustace must press the thorn into Aslan's foot and tears came to my eyes. Aslan was the Lamb of God taking away the sins of the world and the children in the scene were crying as well that such a sacrifice must happen.

  • @wolfinleather I guess I never made the connection between this song and the metal band, Lamb Of God. Interesting how Barber could come up with a gem like this and a metal band writes very crude/cluttered songs while using a name that means they are somehow delivering us from something, maybe society or their version of evil. I think that's whats wrong with music these days. No one really listens anymore and ponders what is meant or relayed to the listener.

  • @dheeren62 so true

  • Now I want to see a youtube clip: "Samuel Barber on Marylin Monroe."

    *pa-dum pish*

  • If I didn't have this song my life would be incomplete...This is the music of deep sorrow of loss....This is the music that tells the story of every scar....Yet also how we pull out of the sadness this possesses.

  • @whythewar1

Hi there, I could not agree with your comment more.

Please send me a message, would love to keep in touch.

  • This is perfection..................

  • Bless this angel.

  • RE:

    i don't get it

no faces of joy are shown my friend

  • Unfortunately she had to die young...... it would have been sad to see her grow old..... the second most beautiful woman to have ever lived...and the most beautiful piece of music ever written/performed

  • NOO!! The music doesnt finish!! Adagio for strings, one of my favourite classical pieces.

  • @anneliseturbanln It's not a song... do you hear singing?

  • I really don't understand how the visuals relate to the music, the turning head bit was especially odd, reminiscent of childsplay somehow.

  • du gehörst nur .....................mir

  • Plastic bimbo gold digging slut!!!

She was just a human representation of those blondie red lips blow up sex dolls LOL :-DDD...

  • @Homonogamous And also history's sexiest woman. High IQ. Are you gay?

  • @philster61 history's sexiest woman? Says who? I love Marilyn but I don't see her as sexy, I see her as vulnerable and beautiful.

  • @JanineRobin Most publications. Whether they be statistical, general interest and sometimes even tabloid will nearly always put Marilyn Monroe at the top. Most men see her as an icon of sex. Unfortunately as time progresses she becomes replaced by present day women such as "Lady Ga Ga" and "Jordan" Kinda ironic

  • @JanineRobin I don't see her as anything at all. Whatever she had that everyone went mad about is totally lost on me. I find Liz Taylor utterly mesmerising but Marilyn does nothing for me at all.

  • @philster61 Her movies werent that great ann francis is better looking more talented and alive

  • @spacepatrolman Anne Francis for the win!

  • @Homonogamous inflateable love doll thats what the song girl of my dreams by bram tsychcovski is supposed to be about

  • creepy

  • truly a touching music..it's ideal for a great actress as Marilyn, she recites with deepness of her soul..

  • Muy acertada la presencia de ELLA en la música de Barber ...

  • She was pretty, an airhead, but pretty.

  • @zeekwolfe funny you say that I can only imagine her pain for being known as a airhead, sex kitten, stupid but bang able....i think its why she killed herself!

  • She was actually the complete opposite and very intelligent. Read up.

  • she wasn't an airhead, she's inspiring and gorgeous from the inside, That's why she's glowing, she was kind and a good person and a great actress,

Such a shame someone with a heart like that killed herself

  • @zeekwolfe - I actually think she was pretty smart, although it behooved her to play the airhead. She was well-read, well versed in music... Look up some of her quotes, I think what she had to say was pretty spot-on and insightful. She had a rough life as a child with no-one loving or wanting her, and I think that can affect anyone as an adult..

  • ya but she did score high on her iq test then Kennedy did so...must of had some smarts.

  • "Жизнь, ты все время толкаешь меня в разные стороны,

    Но я еще могу удержаться

    Пока

Пока ты толкаешь меня..." (М М)

  • There's something wrong with your typewriter.

  • lol 5:04 to 5:34 MM is getting dizzy.

    Great song and Beautiful Female.

  • R.I.P in peace norma....

  • beautiful melancholic moment .thank you from a Marilyn fan.Happy new year.5*

  • She was a proper woman not one of those giant titted sticks who are prized today.

  • its acrying shame what they did to her thank you durcetcurvalfor this clip

  • She was just so Beautiful!

    The camera loved her.

    Thank you for posting and

Thank you Douglasio for sending it to me.

    I LOVE IT!

  • oh woman.. smile to me

    so I see the world

    for your smile I breath

for your love I may live

oh woman.. what am I without your rain?

oh woman.. take me.. so if life has to be anything

    it would be you

    Peace from Iraq

  • This is the face of a painful existance, like our own, and like our own, as robotic in our response to it.

  • Without any doubt the most beautiful and sexiest woman ever existed.

  • Comment removed

  • you are crazy sick twisted and in my opinion should be hangd! Calling marilyn such an faul word!

  • "She was a slut"... the neighborhood cry regarding your mother, ain't it?

  • what a poor attempt to insult me... or wait, you didn't even try to insult me, you tried to insult my mother. Oh maan so youre from my neighborhood? You can tell then...! What a pathetic attempt, you are fail, your life is fail. I bet youre one of those really fat ugly bitches with greasy white skin and freckles all over your untrained sloppy body... Shut up and go shave your ladiebeard ugly skank!

  • you all are some fuckin morons, god damn.

  • Imagine that a bunch of queens would get all riled up commenting a Marilyn Monroe video.

I have to say, she WAS definitely beautiful, prob as beautiful in this movie as she ever was. But these fan-made things where they keep rewinding the same few frames over and over to dwell on her face making a certain expression...they're just sort of creepy in a weird way.

  • hahaha... shit... i think these are the comments from a different video xD

  • amazed by so much hate beween you guys and those comments on the probable plastic surgery...

can't you just listen and forget about being so super intelligent judgmental.

waw, you put me back on what our society fears the most: no lesson learned from the past, no tolerance because of no education.

    I don't thank you.

  • Did anyone else think 'Marilyn Monroe on Samuel Barber' (the title of this video) meant Marilyn Monroe TALKING about Samuel Barber?

  • Agreed

  • You are totally ignorant. Marilyn had great depth, profound intelligence and a genius for performance art.

  • your OPINION is just as valid as my own, but I am not totally ignorant. 99% of her fame is as a result of her beauty, nothing more, nothing less.

  • You were not referring about her fame. You were referring to HER. Who are you to call her shallow? What research have you done?

  • What research have you done to suggest that she had 'great depth', 'profound intelligence' or 'genius' of any sorts?!

Such is the beauty of an OPINION

  • how do you define 'great depth', 'profound intelligence' or 'genius'? do you have to have great depth, profound intelligence and genius in order to define those terms? i'm not sure what they mean. can you define them for me? can you prove that you possess any of these qualities, that have heretofore been undefined yet slung around as a weapon against marilyn, sufficiently enough to be worthy of samuel barber?

  • you words mate, not mine. i'm only sorry that i've pissed you off so much, but i don't take back anything i've said

  • Comment removed

  • lmao. i'm not muslim (and why would you assume so?), but you are definately a racist. your words are the most convincing insult to you that anyone could come up with, so i'll just let them pass.

    lmao though, seriously.

  • hahaha omg it just keeps getting worse hah

how does that even make sense???

you hate muslims but not arabs??? what if the arabian is muslim? will u faint and fall over because its too much for your brain to put together? fvckin douche bag lol

you're not upsetting ne1 with your remarks

you're actually pretty entertaining. its like watching a complete jackass make, well, make himself look like a jackass

    *thumbs up* good job kiddo

  • just be silent.... and just listen to the music...be wise, man

  • does fame for one trait, or even one's job for that matter, eliminate every other trait that one has? is it fame OR those three meaningless phrases you've randomly selected. harry truman was a haberdasher into his 40s before he became president. a man who sells buttons and zippers...as president? that's poppycock. why, he's only a haberdasher.

just because one wants to shove someone else into a pigeon hole doesn't mean they're going to fit.

  • all humans are worthy of this song. it touches the inner core of each of us that nobody sees. including marilyn. one's judgment of another in a superficial caste system of worth is shallow.

  • completely agree.

  • Marilyn Munroe was truely one of the greats in modern history. She will always be rememberd as the "Almost Perfect Woman".

  • who cares what is natural or not ,she's just beautiful period!

  • Yeah, she was natural the only fake thing about her was her hair

  • her nose went under a minor surgery as well along with a chin.

otherwise she's all natural with everything!

  • i dont like the term but she was as pretty as a doll at 3:00

    and as inocent as one

but ther is this emty ness that can never be filled she has that feeling 2

    but thats my opinion afcourse

  • What a poor troubled soul she was.

  • She was incredibly photogenic.

  • Really guys, come on. What is this? Barber and Marylin Munroe?

  • she also has a nice voice..

  • she is natural no surgery love her

  • There is no such thing as Perfect. Even she had to have plastic surgery on her nose. ........but......Her luminous bright smile sparkles with star quality.

  • She Is SOO Beautifully Perfect

  • This music fits her tragic life.

  • She was Venus and Persephone all at once.

  • beautiful !

  • this video is so haunting... especially 5:20...a Cursed princess as i would call her...

  • This is so epic.. what a beautiful beautiful woman she was :) <3

  • Marilyn come forth

loose her, and let her go

  • This is really beautiful.

  • This might have been better with the proper dissolves, fades, and maybe stills interspersed between the film clips. The head twisting at five minutes was just lame. What are you trying to say here? Samuel Barber's music deserves a little more respect and a lot more work. The BBC Orchestra played it on September 15th, 2001 in honor of the victims of the World Trade Center. Finally, Andy Warhol died in 1987. He's not going to see this.

  • Marilyn...considero, o rosto + lindo do cinema americano,,,um olhar lindo!

    Traços perfeitos.

  • This was.. different, but I just couldn't stop watching. I like it!

  • Different, haunting, beautiful and memorable. Like Marilyn herself.

  • Comment removed

  • I Agree Completely Marilyn Was Incredibly Beautiful In This Film And Every Other

It Is A Good Example Of Film Noir Although I Think It Could Have Done With A Different Ending

  • Yeah, that ending just didn't work for some reason. After Marilyn's character dies, I usually switch off ;0)

  • What a different and weird youtube clip that you have put together? But it was interesting.

    Yours sincerely,

    julianallees

    27th January, 2009 11:40am

  • Yes I've seen it, I don't think her character had claws, I would like to ask John Ursini, an expert who narrates Film Noir his opinion on this film.

  • the girl monroe is a beautiful , very nice.... j 'd like me this magic woman ... the monroe is the best in the wourld .. j am one fun ...my name is alberto

  • She looks cool at 4:30

  • ...i don't get it. marilyn monroe. samuel barber. marilyn monroe. samuel barber. can someone expain it to me.

this reeks student film project all over it.

  • Do you really have to understand ? Do you want an explanation? Something rational ?

  • yes. please do tell...

  • Very impressive. Thank you.

  • She was not a trained professional, but all of the actors and directors that worked with her said that she used what she had better than just about anyone. To be a simple "presence" is harder than anything. A terrible loss. Excellent editing. Good job!

  • awesum music ,awesum Monroe ..

  • the music makes me melancholic

  • UR STUPID

  • What does being nervous or having a stammer have to do with being professional?

  • professionsits hide their emotions so well that sometimws you say they don't fell... i doubt that robert de niro maide so many problems during the filming like she did! she couldn't stand to have the hole team around her while the camera was on: what an actress!

  • who are the stupid man than no realize yhe inocent trying to do the best wiht the rules of the this years

  • ok, but for the rules of those years, she never won an oscar, just a golden globe i think... face it, for her times there the talent belonged to others actresses. some actor once said that when you make it seem natural on the stage there is a talent. but with mm i just simply can't forget she is an actress playing a role. she is not convincing me of anything...

  • And yet rather than "some actor", THE most brilliant directors of Marilyn's time saw her as a comedic genius.

  • you know who is a comedic genius: Louis de Funes... now that's an actor good for comedy!

  • Why did u bother viewing and commenting on Marilyn if you feel this way about her. What was your point? Seriously.

  • No, you didn't annoy me. I really did want to know why you bothered. That's all. I didn't realise you were such an angry person. Oh well.

  • I thought she was a brilliant singer, well I am not a famous director. But I know a brilliant singer when I hear one! hehehe

  • This spectacularly Kitsch & Beautiful!

  • Isn't the point that the beauty and pathos expressed in Barber's music is reflected in Monroe's looks, life and personality?

  • this is woman, beautiful and not aggresive

  • mouth half open eyes half open

  • whoow what a sexy walk hehe

i do every thing for a kiss on my check from that lady hehe

  • whow what a beutiful woman

how could someone so nice and beutiful never be respectid for her work

    in her own thime

and left us like she did

  • I agree with lilelephanteli i didn't enjoy this.The music is depressing.

  • This is about the power of sex . And also about death . Music :Oustanding!! Overall : Worth It.

  • A very tasteful composition.

    Vote +++++

  • omg she's very beautiful.

    I will never forget Marilyn.

    I LOVE YOU!

  • But i do love her at 5:51 - 6:01. She looks like an innocent yet sexy doll there

  • i didn't enjoy that. it was a bit scary. marilyn is like a doll in real life. this slow motion made her look a little evil. it looked kinda fake.

  • i didn't enjoy that. it was a bit scary. marilyn is like a doll in real life. this slow motion made her look a little evil. it looked kinda fake.

  • Slow motions;true emotions.

  • isnt mshe beautiful?? well.. Was... but I still Love her!!!

  • Beautiful...

  • sounds like mahler...but it's samuel barber adagio for strings.

A couple of those notes are very similar to the gayne ballet suite. (2001) When she starts singing? around 6:30 into this, you can see she's channeling Lena Horne.

  • ilk olan görüntüde çok itici bakmış.

  • Of course they do... It's the all point.

  • i no this is totaly RANDOM. but i need to know. u no the scene in niagra with marilyn, u no in hospital where she is on the bed whta hapens to her she starts breathing al fats..? why?

    <
