aahhh the Princess Toilet. Seriously thats what Kaguya means = toilet. Well, it is Princess afterall ... precisely where your cruise is going to end up :P
@Starwarsfan1guy looks way top heavy unless its got 200 foot draft whch would make it almost impossible to enter most ports a nice big wave on its broadise will do wonders for its "poor" passengers lets send the best of the elite on a free journey
@polygamous1, why would it be top-heavy without such an enormous draft? Most cruise ships have relatively small drafts in comparison to the overall height of the vessel without compromising stability.
guess this is just some sort of a " hope imagination" made by the cruiseliners becaouse they are bad ass jelous about how fantastic Oasis became. Oasis is 220 000 tonn heavy and thats even when a third of the ship is removed( the middle section)
this model seems a little to big. Why double the zice when u can make it 50 00 tonn heavier and still be the biggest ?
@tupsumato look it up on the internet then :D every link says between 220 000 tons and 225 282 tons guess they know wheat they are talking about when it is so many sources on it :p
@tupsumato omg dont come here arguement against me ! The weight of a ship is calculated out from how much water the boat is pushing away when it is set a float... And it is 220 000 000 liters of water. Whcih means 1 liter = 1 kg. and 22 000 000kilos is then 220 000 tonnes !
@FOiL6, I know that, but with the given main dimensions the Oasis of the Seas can not displace 220,000 tons of water. Her LBT is only 157,356 m³ which equals to 161,455 tons (assuming sea water has a density of 1.025 t/m³). Thus her weight can not, even in theory, be greater than that. However, because of the streamlined hull the displacement is much less, only roughly 100,000 tons.
@tupsumato cannot understand how you can say such a thing? A ton is a Ton and if the mass of the ship is 220 000 tonns including all exteriior, interior, the ship's body , engine etc it means it's weight is 220 000 and not 100 000 tons. why the hell would they add 120 000 tons if it is not that heavy? It is the biggest cruise ship ever made. and if it was 100 000 tons heavy, it would have been the official number. Caouse then 100 000 would have been the biggest annyways... why should all lie ?
@FOiL6, no-one has said that the ship weighs 220,000 tons.
You are mixing displacement (weight) with gross tonnage, which is an unitless index calculated with a mathematical formula from the ship's overall volume. The gross tonnage (GT) of the Oasis of the Seas is 225,282, but it has nothing to do with weight.
Oasis of the Seas weighs roughly as much as a Nimitz class aircraft carrier.
That ship would take around 10.000 people at the same time. Perhaps more.
Where do you find that many people? I guess it could be used as a floating hotel for football world cups or similar if the games were close to the shore.
How do you transfer that many people to land at the same time?
How many taxies? And the harbour. Lol perhaps two halfsize ships would be better than this one. Although big ships saves a lot of fuel.
I would think that should such a ship be built they would put huge amenities on the top deck. This is just a crude artist conception of an initial vision. The top deck would be like Oasis and Allure. Doubt this monster will be built.
@cortes1988 Yeah I heard it would carry 8000 passengers and 4000 crew members. A total of 12,000 on a ship. Heck, I was on Caribbean Princess and I thought that was already big! Besides does anyone know how long it would take getting around the ship from one end to another? Way too big
@Xmike15 I never been on a Cruise before but hopefully ill have my cruise experience someday. I just wouldn't like going on a cruise with over 3000 people in it. It's too crowed
@cortes1988 Caribbean Princess was my first cruise I've been on. It was last July 2010. It carried a total of 3,100 people and it wasn't very crowded at all because the ship size was perfect for the amount of passengers. I really recommend it because the service there was amazing, plus it was lots of fun.
@tupsumato Yeah that is true. But I still wouldn't like a crowed ship. You know you gotta have enough for everyone to enjoy the activites on the ship.
@cortes1988, a well-designed ship does not appear to be crowded to most people because the passengers are scattered more or less uniformly around the boat.
@cortes1988, not necessarily. Special attention has been paid to make the ships less crowded. I heard they have actually succeeded in distributing the people so that there are no long queues etc.
@cortes1988, nope, but I recently took a course about cruise ship design and we had several people from Royal Caribbean and STX Finland giving lectures about, among others, the Oasis of the Seas. Crowd control in large ships was one of the issues they addressed.
The problem here is it is way too big to be economically practical, at least that is how I feel. Too huge to enjoy. Many critics of Oasis/Allure say even those are too big and you feel you are in a shopping mall and not a ship. As for the largest cruiseship there is no need to build larger than the two sea monsters RC has plying the oceans.
@jamaoish, as ships get bigger, displacement increases faster than the weight so it's not a problem. Also, there's no issue with the materials since long series of big ships are already built.
That was just a design made but it probably will never bee built! even if it would im not going on board... My stupid city that i live in has 15.000 people and that shit will be carrying 2/3 of the people who live in the city i live in.. It will never be built but if it will Im not joining the drowning party :P
I heard the ship will be for the japanese. Upon completion of the muster station drills, all passengers will be giving spear guns and knives and they will proceed to the artic to hunt all whales to extinction.
DO i smell a hint of JEALOUSY by Princess Cruises. Jealous of the interaction and fun the Oasis is. Even if this ship was ever built. People wouldnt want to walk a long ways to go to the prominade etc.
@FutabaKIKS that ship look ugly the titanic looks better looking then that ship plus the allura of seas is the biggest ship nob the princess of kaguya :P

@cortes1988, there has been no reports of the newbuilding in any of the maritime magazines I've read recently, so I doubt it's being built. There would've definitely been coverage of a ship of this caliber.
@tupsumato Well like I said before, It's from the japanese not anywhere else. Ill believe it when I see it. Right now I am looking forward to Allure of the Seas in December.
this ship does not exist, the laregest ship out there is oasis of the seas, and coming up allure of the seas which is the same size. princess kaguya, what a joke
a ship that long, you can ad a theme park onboard such as Rollercoaster, waterride, bunji drop, and other rides onboard this ship, this ship could be built or will, its just the question of when?
yes, some of the things you can enjoy on land as on sea, e.g. rock climbing, zipline etc., but this is about having alot of choice in an all inclusive package which encourage people to try new things. e.g. you may never like heights and will normally refuse to pay ANY money to go on a rockwall but you may give it a go on the ship because it is included anyways. i have on cruises before and find it boring before this. i am going onto this ship to admire the amazing design and engineering.
...das ist ja grauslich, sieht aus wie ein ungetümliches Blechhotel mit kleiner Bugspitze dran; Die armen Einwohner der Insel wo dieses Ding anlegt!!!!
I understand there might be a group who are attracted to this new type of cruising "innovation."
i just think that it's unfortunate that cruising has now taken a strange and in many ways sad course..........that people go to sea to enjoy things that they can really get..... at home............and don't go simply to enjoy......... the sea.
Disagree re the comment of cruising only being available for the rich. Carnival have been around for yonks, offering cheap cruises.
And yeah, TheOrontes, Carnival and RCCL don't build the ships, they just buy them. All the monstrous ships are built and engineered outside the US. The most made in USA part of the ships is their interior decoration and part of the electronics.
Orontoes, I noticed you like the QE2 for her lines but wasn't its purpose the same as Oasis when it came out?? Inovation! Oasis is leading with a concept of the ship being a destination. It's not for everyone, but you can hardly condem them for the change. If the industry stayed the same the 70k ton QE2 would have been almost twice the size of the Titanic. So where should the line be drawn? 100k tons, 200?? 300?? I think it stop where the market no longer sells, and Oasis is booked solid.
Yeah, but the Japanese are just copying the Americans. Look at the monsters that Carnival and RCCL have built recently.
What you're missing is that the whole, original concept of cruising was........and should be..........to enjoy something completely different than one would be accustomed to at home. Leave the condo and the malls behind when you go on a cruise vacation........
If you really need a rock wall to climb when you're on a ship........stay at home and climb one!
@theorontes, Just because a ship is large enough to provide these types of luxury doesn't mean its a bad thing. There are plenty of ships that don't offer this stuff, so there is plety of options out there for people like you!! Oasis is in the part of the industry that is moving towards condos or homes on cruise ships (the only people who could afford to cruise way back when were rich, now those same rich people are investing in the next level, owning a condo on a ship).
What's the point of buidling such horrendously large ships. Can't you get enough of your massive malls, apartments buildings and people........ashore??? Why have to consolidate all that into huge cruise ships?? It's ridiculous. You go to sea.....to enjoy.....the sea......
Typical American brilliance - it's all about making the buck. Ignorance at its extreme and ignorance on the part of people who are attracted to these monster ships...
Actually, if your building a ship Oasis's size or larger, you would need to open the spaces up (like Central Park, Boardwalk ect) to fill in interior spaces because your ship would be so large.
Yeah, I've also wondered why people waste money on anything as everything can and will eventually be destroyed. A car can be stolen, a house can burn to the ground, a pure-breed puppy can get run over by a delivery truck...
I agree with you, just like many people thought QE2 would be the last Ocean Liner ever build, and Mickey Arison proved them wrong by building QM2, so it might be build I don't see why not, but so far it seems that the project is on hold.
Its pretty sure, that this ship is going to set sails on someday. In spring, the drydock in finland is going to be longer for sure. This vessel is going to be builted in finland. I know because i work there. I´ve already built the oasis and the allure of the seas. Allure is 1:1 copy of the oasis. On december 2010 its leaving finland.

a ship that long, you can ad a theme park onboard such as Rollercoaster, waterride, bunji drop, and other rides onboard this ship, this ship could be built or will, its just the question of when?

yes, some of the things you can enjoy on land as on sea, e.g. rock climbing, zipline etc., but this is about having alot of choice in an all inclusive package which encourage people to try new things. e.g. you may never like heights and will normally refuse to pay ANY money to go on a rockwall but you may give it a go on the ship because it is included anyways. i have on cruises before and find it boring before this. i am going onto this ship to admire the amazing design and engineering.

Each to his own.
TheOrontes 2 years ago
They just got done with The Oasis of The Seas and that ship is a huge bitch as well
tmmaston 2 years ago
And yeah, TheOrontes, Carnival and RCCL don't build the ships, they just buy them. All the monstrous ships are built and engineered outside the US. The most made in USA part of the ships is their interior decoration and part of the electronics.

However, we design them!!

300?? I think it stop where the market no longer sells, and Oasis is booked solid.
dlabout 2 years ago
Yeah, but the Japanese are just copying the Americans. Look at the monsters that Carnival and RCCL have built recently.
What you're missing is that the whole, original concept of cruising was........and should be..........to enjoy something completely different than one would be accustomed to at home. Leave the condo and the malls behind when you go on a cruise vacation........
If you really need a rock wall to climb when you're on a ship........stay at home and climb one!
TheOrontes 2 years ago

TheOrontes 2 years ago
I guess that's what people want. If you don't build them, someone else will, and you end up losing passengers and money.
tupsumato 2 years ago
BTW - This ship concept is for a Japaneese company, not american.
Answer this - Why do most countries build large oil tankers and freight ships??
For the same damn reason!!! To move more cargo or people more efficiently!!
You have less crew, less maintenence, less management then 2 ships carrying the same amount of people. Plus you can provide more amenities.
Its easy to understand even for someone who isn't American!
RCCLDisney 2 years ago
Actually, if your building a ship Oasis's size or larger, you would need to open the spaces up (like Central Park, Boardwalk ect) to fill in interior spaces because your ship would be so large.

ya no every1 is trying to build all these big ships nd stuff but where do the get a billion dollars to throw away on a cruise ship that might sink?
beaum1cah 2 years ago
Yeah, I've also wondered why people waste money on anything as everything can and will eventually be destroyed. A car can be stolen, a house can burn to the ground, a pure-breed puppy can get run over by a delivery truck...
These ships are fully insured.

I recently read that they shrunk the ship to around Oasis size.

that would take so much money and i think bigger than the Titanic correct me if im wrong please?
skipergrade 2 years ago
This would certainly be bigger than Titanic if they are saying that it would be bigger than Oasis (FYI - Oasis is 5 times bigger then Titanic)
RCCLDisney 2 years ago
Titanic- 46000 t
Oasis- 225282 t
Kaguya - 450000 t
Simple math is all that is needed.
Doubtful this ship will be built but never say never.
beyondonethousand 2 years ago
I agree with you, just like many people thought QE2 would be the last Ocean Liner ever build, and Mickey Arison proved them wrong by building QM2, so it might be build I don't see why not, but so far it seems that the project is on hold.

True, very true

@Cruisexpert96 Actually this ship was drawn before Oasis of the Seas were.

@Cruisexpert96 accept this ship has a stadium instead of a ampha theater with a diving pool with a high dive tower like at sea world.
