I know many people associate MJ with Stevie because of their friendship and Motwon background, but this song has nothing to do with MJ. Stevie wrote this song about his children, Aisha and Keita. Keita is the dancer who Stevie is refereing to, and his older sister Aisha. The information is out there in cyber space if you do a bit of research. Such a feel good song, that you can't help but smile while listening to this classic.

@alittledab27 No worries. The funny thing is that the lyrics are in the album booklet, and the name 'Keita' is there for all to see. I guess in the age of itunes and downloading some people just don't care to look and read the liner notes and info provided. Oh well, as Bob Dylan once said, "the times they are a-changing". LOL I can read, these last few years my eye sight is not so good but, back then, I had 20/20  Just always assumed I knew what Stevie was saying. You know that is impossible. I renamed his son. hahaha However, back to the original argument that a certain person wanted to be challenged on, it's definitely not about Michael Jackson or anyone in his family. LOL

I was 5 when this was released so I discovered this album later. I simply do not understand these people who consider themselves diehard fans and knock down this brilliant record and say it is 'inferior' (according to polls on various websites).It is a very creative, funky and soulful album with influences of the past, but also open to a new decade (80's). Definetely one of his best.

I ran across this video because I read "The Color Purple" by Alice Walker and before she begins the series of letters by the protagonist, Celie, there's a part in the novel that begins with the quote "Show me how to do like you / show me how to do it," and I saw it was by Stevie Wonder. I became curious about this and youtube'd the song and ran across this AMAZING talent that is Stevie Wonder. I love this song and thank you Alice Walker for incorporating it into your novel.

I used to LOVE this song as a kid,especially the ending. I remember falling in love with Stevie's music as a young girl, starting with this album. This was one of the many albums on the playlist during my mother's Saturday morning clean up sessions where my older sister and I would sing and dance around our basement apt helping my mother clean up. Good times (rough times-real rough), but still good and I wouldn't trade them for anything in this the world!!! MY ALL TIME FAVORITE ARTIST!!!

lol..you gotta remember...Stevie knew Mike as a kid. He had access to the guy's family throughout his and Mike's career as he was singing with Jackson 5. You gotta remember, before Mike hit big, he sung background vocals on several of Stevie's songs and even sat with him in the studio during some of his projects. So him and Mike no def had talked alot before Mike made it big going solo. He knew all about Mike just through his connection to Berry Gordy.

So.........I don't know if he was talking about Michael or not, but I definitely thought of MJ when I hear this song now.

If you listened, Stevie mentions his own son's name (Hinte') And that the boy was asking his sister Aisha (Stevie's first child), to show him how to do like her. hence the name of the song, "Do Like You" Stevie often talked about his son loving to dance and wanting to be a dancer. "Since age one, Hinte knew he had the answer, and it was, that some day he'd be a dancer". So, stop making up your own stories about other people's lives and go get one. ;-)

This is the J5/Michael's story, jamming as kids and little Mike dancing like James Brown as young as 5 years old. Michael and Stevie go waaaaaay back, to the Chitlin Circuit days so this isn't a stretch that he'd know his story. Many people that claim to be Michael Jackson fans (especially since his passing) really don't know SHIT, just jumping on his "Thriller" party train and ignoring his beginnings.

I totally agree. I was saying this on another Stevie tune that Dwele in my books is one of those Stevie like individuals in my books. Only 3 albums down but not ONE of his songs sound bad or sound like fillers on his album. And THAT'S the sign of a great artist...when you compose and sing from your soul. Stevie did it best. Dwele is my second favorite Detroit cat hands down...though Stevie is from Saginaw, Michigan...still right there basically...heh
