  • Most basic and reliable: Vinyl

Easyer then vinyl, buy can break down if cd sucks: CD

Most flexible but again, if computer crashes your fucked: Computer

Vinyl has least chance to break down, though the one time a cd fails or computer crashes is minimal. So i think CD/computer and at the end computer will do the job.

    Cheers,

    Jeroen

  • i dont think it is any of the above i think the future of djing will be all in one controllers like the numark ns6 to be honest cdjs are overrated .

  • Comment removed

  • digital djing with computers is what will work most the best and most reliable however vinyl is still an art and will never die out. I personally have a macbook pro and S4 which is very compact light and easy to transport but it also depends on what type of dj you are. Anyone esle agree?

  • IMO timecoded vinyls are, what I would like to see, the future of djaying. Used with serato scratch live or traktor pro etc, they do just the things that cdj:s and dj controllers do. They are just more ''real'' and keep the feeling of real djing. And its easy to move to old school vinyl playing from timecoded vinyls :P

  • Im sorry to say this but pc is the future of djaying. I think its the future because so many people i starting to just push letters and numbers on their keyboard and call themselves DJ's. Also its the ease of obtaining software now that there's such things as torrents and youtube to mp3 converters it eliminates the need for spending a couple hundred quid and getting yourself 2 cdjs and a mixer and also eliminates the need for buying cds..

  • Pc is the future. Vinyl is original, but better. I would like it ,if one day, the fucking world wasnt dropped on their heads. and all the hot ass soccer moms would fucking burst vinyls hahah.

  • CD is the future.

  • all three will be kept alive; vinyl is the roots of all modern djing and has major support, however, cd's have become the mainstream amongst dj's in the last decade, but computer djing has picked up major speed in the last few years and has brought new things to the table.. everybody's got their own opinions, preferences and the gear to suit them, their genre and their technique so i think it's a three horse race for a long time to go

  • I'm really confused... help. Older Mentors doesn't accept my controllers =(

but if your techy enough you would realize that SERATO is just the same as Midi controllers

  • I would love to say plain old vinyls but I think mp3s are going to take over

  • in my honest opinion i think turntables should definately not disappear. Learning to beatmatch and mix with turntables will make you enjoy the fruits of your labor in the end.

I started myself using only virtual dj and my mouse.

then i got the opportunity to practise with cdj 400's and occasionaly at vinyl at a mates place so im trying to get the taste of all three methodes.

and i must say, cdj's and vinyl are the thing for me.

pc dj'ing gets boring quickly in my opinion.

  • I think PC DJing will be the future

  • Pc dj is not the future , you dont need skills for djing with a pc ! Only a sync button :s cdj " s are just the best !

  • I'm pretty sure it was obvious that PC DJing would be dominant, the same way that ipod's are dominant over portable CD players. Not saying one format is beter than the other, but still.

  • I'm new to actually DJing, but I do it on my laptop. I'm saving up to get a Mixtrack Pro midi controller.

  • DISCOVER DJ PRO

  • midi controllers are getting better and better, i think they going to be or already are the future...

  • pc

  • cdj for me i love my vinyls but the pc gets boring and vinly cant do alot so the cdj hist it you can simlar to vinly on cdj and simlar to a pc on cdj :)

  • I use vinyl, second hand and older software, its the cheapest way to dj! i would like to use CDJ's but they get expensive very fast!

  • Being the person that presses play. doesn't make you a dj

  • Also they should start getting more detailed wave forms on cdjs with touch scrolling capability

  • Theres so much more you can do with cdjs and a mixer attached to a pc, traktor atm does lack some features my djm 2000 can do but being able to visually see the different audio fluctuations and the entire wave from where it builds up, drops and starts to end makes strategically mixing specific sections of the song so much easier

  • beatmatching isnt a creative skill... tell that to carl cox

  • @MPC666 ill get Richie Hawtin to pass the message on to him.

  • @ctrlaltdelmaster hahah.... genuine lol for that

  • i am a dj and i dont think anybody can beat turnables no matter what they bring out turntables are the past and the future

  • when i started DJing about 2-3 years ago i wanted to use nothing but vinyl, i managed it for about 8 weeks then i tried a friends CDJ, when realising technology wasnt the end of the world i tried a computer mix, now i almost do exclusively computer mixes with an occasional vinyl gig. vinyl feels better, looks cooller and i think is easyer than cdjs but carrying all my records around on the tube was a real hassel, i hate to say it but vinyls future isnt looking great.

  • there is no denying that virtual is getting bigger but i feel that you need a bit of experience on CD/Vinyl first :P

  • For pro work I use digital gear but for personal use at my home is vinyl.

  • fuck right off people use Virtual if they can't actually beat match...

  • i already used traktor and virtual dj, diffrent numark players, and all rekordbox cdj's: nothing is better than the cdj's. Since the rekordbox is available you won't need traktor or virtual dj.

  • Hey to all. I think Dj gear development is directly connected to media through witch music is sold to the public. We had vinyls since the 1920s then the late 1980s digital media was gaining popularity. That's why first DJs used turntables then CDJ when CD were popular and now the trend is to use mp3 format together with software and midi controllers. I wonder what will be next.

  • @ocvcp2 very well put

  • maybe the next innovation will be streaming audio instead of having it on a laptop. your not limited to the audio on your hard drive.

  • midi controllers..

  • i think it will be a mixture of the three but in a way to make easier to use and to move around

  • As a relatively new starter to mobile disco's i use all 3, and each have their own merits, you cannot beat the "feel" of vinyl, although it's a pain in the arse to carry in and out of a gig (along with everything else). So i simply offer a choice, if my client wants retro vinyl - i take it along, if not, i use virtual dj and a hard drive, and cdj's. simples. The demand for vinyl is diminishing (in my line of work, anyway), so can see cdj and pc taking preference in the near future.

  • i see few deejays... and so many kids with a laptop ,,,, :(

  • I think people is confused on the question. .- homboi said WHAT IS THE FUTURE?? NOT what is real o the best eqp. . . i think is a mix pc with midi controler is the future, and im not 18 years old. . im class of 98, i love turntables i think they rule, but i dont think thats the future, is like thinkin a walkman is better then a ipod jajajajaja, , , you carrying a bunch of vinyl or a piece of equipment with thousands of music, PLUS I DONT THINK VINYL MAKES A DJ

  • I think vinyl should stay ive djed on cd pc and vinyl when i doion it on cd it just doesnt have the right sound the vinly and i just dont get the same vibe , when im djing on my computer it feels like the computer is doing it for me i just dont feel like a dj , When i get behind , Some SL-1210s and a mixer its like wow look what i can do im mixing vinyl the best media format in the world and i feel like i belong there people think its old to mix with vinyl but personly i think there lazy :)

  • The future of DJing is vinyl and CDJ's with programs like Serato and Traktor.

  • well as the new technology emerges, they most likely will come up with more creative ways to do deejaying. I personally prefer using mixers and turntables and the general shape of it and the way you mix can be really fun. BUT. computers and technology ARE taking over slowly and things like mixpad are coming out. I think, mixer should stay and it should only just get better, and using some of other things like mixpad or new technologies which may be made, should make deejaying more interesting.

  • Hi ellaskin, long time ago since you asked this question, but it's again and again coming up everywhere i go either for dancing or playing myself... if you ask 100 DJ u probably get 100 different answers... i'm djing since 2 year, started with CDJ, i have tryed software (all different on the market) but never have the opportunity to try vinyl (in my genre almost nothing is released on vinyl)... my answer: why not combine, it opens a whole bunch of new opportunities :))

  • using computer and mixser and turntables is way better.. because u have mor music and not worry about a scrach cd .. so yea i like using computer .. ;0

  • is sure in the future the dj's will use computer and cdj but they are crap..the vinyl is starting of dj's...and if the vinyl won't be here...the term of dj was not known in this days:)

  • pc is not djing, CDs are cool and VINYLS are the best real DJayin and more Fun. Vinyl shopping is fun in itself than just downloading & burning music .Viva D.I.T.C

i tried pcs, softwares and shit like that and got bored quickly now im sticking to Almighty VINYL.

  • Vinyl seems to carry the best sounding music you can find because of the mastered quality you get with the vinyls themselves although music is limited and range of mixing techniques is limited. Cd mixing gives you more techniques to use and all the music you can find unlike vinyl, but the sound quality of songs will never be as good. Pc mixing gives you the widest range of songs of and mixing techniques, but usb turntables are shitty and you have to worry about your laptop breaking down at gigs.

  • what is the best that you use when you are a beginner vinyl or CD set?

  • Numark V7! Vynel!

  • im not a dj and I know about music. Rap isn't music

  • A lot of people still use vinyl & cdj, but I think that pc is going to be the "next gen" of djing, since the programs are generally easier to use, (sometimes) more customizable, and a lot of famous djs are now starting to use pc.

  • Vinyl = A thing of the past, but still a great way of mixing for some genres and scratching aswell

CDJs = great for the DJ that likes to make their own mixes and play for a certain crowd of people

Laptop / PC = Great for the mobile DJ that needs to carry tons of music for parties and can even download what they dont already have on the fly!and most softwares have loads of effects for on the fly remixing!

I believe PC will take over, but its best to keep turntables nd CDJs for timecode nd whatnot

  • Turn tables will never go but I would say the pc will take over

  • I have a quick question? Do you need a laptop to play a CDJ player?

  • Comment removed

  • @Kevin5Nguyen No man , with a cdj , u need cds , and you can even use now usb sticks and external hard drive

  • @Kevin5Nguyen no

  • I have a quick question? Do you nnpe

  • PC DJ

  • vinyl will never die but as for which one is the future I would have to say PC programs although I feel that a dj should learn the basics about djing without computer programs such as beatmatching, mixing, scratching, etc.

  • CDJ's For the future because you can use a laptop but also, there are more cd's being made than records to really thats the better option, but vinals are good too!:D

  • CDJ now I'm practice how to Find the real tempo for Mix trance

  • ellaskin, after 4 good years, the answer is now clear .... Computer djaying is dominating the world !

  • @massimoo1 yay i kno im a pc dj i want to buy a vinyl one but their so expensive

  • hi i am wachinyour vids and i have question if i use cdj 400 and a mixer how can i record my set to the comp ty .... u are huge help

  • pc

  • yoo ellaskins i dont even give a fuck, you have the best youtube channel there is by far

  • Vinyl will never die!

  • save the vinyl

  • i use the pro scratch witch is the pc vinyl and i love it just because it is much more realstic scratching

  • yea fair enough the software leaves you with more time to concentrate on the mix its self, but if you a re a good enough dj you can have the next tune beatmatched in under a minute easily. i started with software and argued the same point but in reality i wouldn't call my self a dj, if i couldn't beatmatch. i will say that pc djing is the future but at the moment cdj's rule. vinyl is a dying art unfortunatley.

  • I went to the club and see the real DJ recently. I think PCDJ is more accepted by beginner to pro DJs because we don't need to bring any disks, just install our favorite CDs into HDD. Only we have to do to start DJ is to prepare the controller and electricity. There will be more demand for PC in life, and the same for DJ. Simple is the best for everything. Some pro DJ are willing to play classic style with records,so classic DJ style will not disappear in the future.

  • You'd be an idiot not to admit that PC is the future.

  • PC is for thoes who can't dj...

  • Hi Jonathan, really cool videos, the future might be PC DJ with propper controllers, or even touch-screen djíng,.. who knows..? maybe we´d have pacemaker parties, where the pacemaker is actually not a medical device but a small mp3-mixer, used by party people mixing themselves and a supervising dj just fades in the best blends from people on the dancefloor,.. maybe,.. industry just comes back to reason and we get our good old vinyl back,. but that´s just a thought,.. or maybe.. the beatclubs?

  • I think beat matching is a valuable skill for a dj that pc djing is not going to remove from the practice. That said, though, I think pc djing is the future because it is far more creative and intuitive than vinyl and cds. Real djs play music, tools are just that. What I liked about vinyl collecting was the scarcity of tracks, you could have a record that no one you know has, there might be a remix that no one has heard before. What I like about digital music is that you can mess around with it.

  • If You Have Vinyl Or CDJ And Know How To Use Them Your A Real DJ If You Use Just A Computer And Something Like Virtual DJ Just Stop.. Thats Not Real..Lol iUse Vinyl My Self And Love It.. Vinyl Records And Traktor When iUse Digital.. So iSay Vinyl.. And Stick To It..

  • how youre doin ;) funny, i think i watched your video quite a time ago, where you were showing some new light effects?! ;)

however... i think vinyl or the physical feeling of it is still the best interface to have full control over the mix... this is the reason i prefere real vinyl... the serato/traktor thing is indeed a love/hate thing for many of us... im still in use of two heavy bags full of my black gold...

the day i get my first international gig i'll might kick it digitally,too..

    peace

  • I think we should always have the choice, just like today. Sven Väth only mixes on vinyl, but his best friend Richie Hawtin , has helped develloping traktor. So, you can do great mixes with all three. I prefer having Traktor and a controller because i m winning a lot of time by pressing the sync button that let me perfect my mix and when i travel all I have to take is my laptop and my controller. Last but not least, it s much cheaper and i can scroll much quicker through my music library.

  • @theHDJs

what youre describing here... i called it "destruction of skills" IF you not take hawtin at his word and spend the time you saved with the syncbutton to do something else more creativly... 4decks, effects, layering.

cheap, because you download (mostly illegal?!) but remember the costs for laptops, interface, controller...

fast? imagine, even most vinyl djs sort their crates + got them in mind to pic the ONE out of hundreds ;P

lets not talk aubout the "sync"...

    travelin i agree!!!

  • @FieserBauer Of course I use The time I won With the sync to do more things like playing on 4decks, effetcs etc... :) thats the pleasure of having the automatic sync, especially by traktor, it is well made.

Cheap, yes because you don t have to by a computer, you already got one, and its surely the most expensive thing in your setup ( if you have a good computer). And i dont have to buy 4 cdjs and a 4 channel mixer for an astronomic price.

  • @FieserBauer Faster also because even somebody who pay for downloads, would just be at home in front of his pc than somebody who has to go to the record shop(and its cheaper too). And imagine during a set, your reading the crowd,or you got a brilliant idea and you don't have the right vinyl on you. That can never happen to a pc dj.And if you have a huge music library(vinyl or mp3)it will be quiker to type in the name of the song you're looking for than to search it in your mountain of vinyls :)

  • @theHDJs totally agree on that ;) the travelling aspect is the only real aspect for me. At least everybody gotta have fun :) Don't get me wrong, didn't wanna hate! i usually never comment on topics like this... in fact your points seemed most important to me and i like all of your reviews and discussions!

keep up the good work mate! =)

  • Timecode vinyl with Analog turntables is where it's at right now, hopefully that's where it stays

  • I'm using a mixer a laptop and speakers and now I'm doing clubs

  • Computers are the best

  • ever go to a large club and listen to a digital DJ? or even a CDJ - the sound quality just is not there in the digital format - nowhere near rivaling the Analog sound anyway, and the sooner people realise that the percieved advancements in sound over the past 20 or so years are only there to make the production of the media cheaper and the proffits higher - then end product (be it MP3 (320 or not) or CD) is nowhere near as good as it was 20/30 years ago.

  • im a serato user using mac for music and vinyl for playing... were in 2011 now but still like using turntables the feels really good

for pc djs... try to use turntables or a cdj and try to do what you are doing on pc on that live and you`ll know what youre missing

cdjs are great too but dont like to use it

this is just my opinion on my own!!!

VINYL WILL STILL STAND FOR LIFE!!!!

  • im a serato user using mac for music and vinyl for playing... were in 2011 now but still like using turntables the feels really good

  • vinyl will return stronger than ever,it will kill pc djs and cdj

  • @coolboy18196

    Amen!

  • The pc has killed the turntable. For years the Technics sl series ruled the club scene but technics has decided to discontinue it.The thing I hate about laptops is you get the same songs you hear on the radio.with vinyl you could get extened versions and dance mixes.Even cd offers some of this.If all you want to hear is electric slide, casper slide,or to the left to the left to the right to the right then laptops seem perfect.I miss vinyl myself.

  • i use two for PC and two vinyl. CDJ can suck my dick

  • I feel like as much as turntablists want vinyl to stay. it will slowly become a thing of the past. club standard is cdj 2000's now. vinyl is legit but, i just dont think it will last. as for pc "djing" its a joke. Its definetely a good way for new guys like myself to get into it without having to drop big bucks to try it (with free downloads and stuff) but to go to clubs and show up with a mac book and "DJ" from that? no.

  • Most people like the easy way out and don't wanna take the time to learn the skills it takes to be a Turntable/Vinyl DJ! All these programs and controllers, in my opinion is absolutely not djing why do you think they call it virtual! Cause it's phony and fake and something any chump can do, it's no challenge whatsoever(i call all those programs djing for dummies)!!! Then you hear the stupid excuses like i don't wanna carry records around(that's the lazy excuse!) I have no respect for pc dj's!!!

  • Vinyl is the true dj tool 4 those whom started from vinyl & still use it these ppl don't need the automatic cue or auto sync (some said it's a waste of time) if u have the "ear" 4 music U wud be able 2 do those things on your own the new stuff is good but if your computer locks some of us would be helpless & unable 2 do what u did when that cpu (computer) was running This new technology has made it where anybody can be a dj but put a pair of 12's in front of them & see if they can still jam!

  • i think this guy is realy cool i would like to have a trun table i want one soo bad i just dont have mony

  • but I have cd, cd is ok.

  • two MIDI cd players and an pc is the future!

  • you forgot the midi controllers DUDE they are all over around us in my contry there are a lot of people how declaid them self as DJs with a stupid midi controller thats a shit :( :( :( :( i am for the CDJ :)

  • Vinyl is the way to go, its the one that takes the most skill. CDJ is so easy to pick up, and it basically beat matches it for you. No matter what you say, beat matching is definitely a skill thats getting fewer and further between. PC DJ had good intentions, but is being abused by every cunt and his cat thinking that he is a 'dj'. Often in clubs lately, Ive come to play my set, and the DJ before me has been playing off traktor, playing track after track 'mixing' only one bar of each song. Crap.

  • Cdj's will still remain prominent but the PC Dj is the new thing. simple as that. Pc with hardware mixers and junk that's the way to go I think.

  • whats better for giggs?

  • im only a new dj just buying my gear as we speak i use virtual dj pro 7.04 im buying some mixing decks the cdj type id like to have all of the above but i do think the cdj n Dj programs will take over in saying that it will be a loss as vinle has that sound that u just cant get from a cd ro a computer. when i say im a new Dj iv been doing it for a while but only on off for the past few years n now im wanting to get right in to it

  • pc/ midi dj controller.

  • PC and HID

  • I think PC will be the top dog, for the ease of use and ease of obtaining music. With that said, a combination of two or even three would provide the most versatility.

  • vynals cannot be taken over.. :) i have Cdj`s though and i love them they are handier , if u just want a song for ur set u just go online and dowload it onto a cd or a USB pen drive and BANG u have it there and then :) put u cant beat the scrathin on Vyanls and i am still lookin for a set of 1210 MK2 to go along with my Denon DNS 3000s :)

  • beatmatching is fucking gay thats why everyone hates dj's because they think its a skill.

  • vote for turntable

  • by the way, thats why i love all the vinyl only releases!

  • problem with a lot of sync 'djs' is that the never have played with vinyl or cdjs, so they also cant hear it when the beat is not on the grid. the winner of ADE amsterdam dj talent uses sync and she makes a lot of mistakes like this..

when you play vinyl or cds youre just more into the music and you can feel it better. And besides, if you play like house/tech house you dont need to play 3 or even 4 decks in sync! al liitle effectbox with reverb+delay would be enough! else you fak up the music

  • hehe i love your hats :D

  • beat matching is not a creative skill. Beat matching wastes time and effort when the performer could be focusing on getting the perfect mix, intricate cuts, adding effects. there is so much more to djing than just beat matching. This is why programs like traktor surato and ableton are the future of djing

  • @ctrlaltdelmaster Although you say beat matching isn't a skill i know people who have been practicing for years to get their beat matching perfect on vinyl. I guess by your comment you come from a very digital based background where you don't know what its like to mix vinyl. I play gigs quite regularly and im only 18, but call me a elitist but it makes me sick when you see kids turn up to gigs with a USB pen and a laptop, then all they do is press play. Thats not Djing.

  • @ctrlaltdelmaster agreed traktor and ableton are too versatile. why have cdjs when you can have a tablet running on ableton with software (ipad)

  • @ctrlaltdelmaster if u cant beat match u shudnt b djing !!! youre ears make u the dj u r nt some pc program!!

  • i think beat matching is the basic of djing, eventhough djing moves on with pc programs, traktor etc ,uve got to learn the basics in order to dominate the scene...

  • at the moment i have a hercules es2 usb mixing controller, but soon i want technics 1210's

  • CDJs and Vinyl control programs like serato and traktor are the future, for now. I know laptop virtual DJs think they have a place but no one at a club wants to see you up there on just a laptop, and the other DJs will all laugh at you.

  • Defo PC's i love DJing with them!

  • I think PCs are here to stay for DJing for good reason. They are more convenient, easier to find your music, and offers lots of tools that help the novice DJ or increase the performance of a veteran DJ. With that said, CDs make a great light-weight backup and there would be a feeling of a loss of culture without vinyl. So, vinyl and CDs are here to stay, but PCs will be the major powerhouse of every set-up.

  • Personally I belive that turntables running a DVS system and cd decks will be the future any club i go to its either of them too and ive been to a few not once have i seen a controller.

  • i am 13 and i have just started djing how much should i pay for a gig

  • @djmarkwareinguk At such a young age, i would recommend you to buy a Reloop digital jockey 2 controller edition or a Reloop digital jockey 2 interface edition, remember to buy an external soundcard to the controller edition, if you want to use headphones (:

  • had a decussion the other nite with a few djs a lot of ppl sem to use virtual programs on site i play on but aspire to cdjs or vynal me myself i use cdjs and since most have a vynal function i tink cdjs wil be the future :)

have 2 thank you 4 all your videos uv really helped me a lot

    peace

  • by the time Pioneer comes out with a cdj 3000 and a djm 3000, it will be able to mix for you probably

  • vinyl started the dj the dj will die with the the vinyl so the day the dj dies vinyl dies

  • Essentially it all comes down to 3 things: cost, compatibility, and ease of use. Controllers are much cheaper than a pro set of DJ tech and almost everyone has a laptop nowadays, eliminating that extra cost. Controllers such as the DDJ-S1 have XLR outputs so that's not much of a compatibility issues and the huge screen of a laptop makes DJing much easier since you see every detail, not to mention no more hard copies of music; it's all digitally stored on your computer. No need to transfer music!

  • It's all about computer based djing. With dj controllers you can get all of the cdj or turntable feel but you don't have to buy records of burn CDs . Now you can buy it on iTunes and be djing it in seconds without a trip to the record store. With computer programs like trakktor you can have TONS of effects that a mixer cant hold. bottom line, get a dj controller like the trakktor control s4 or the numark ns6. And the price is pretty nice.

  • Vinyl..

  • and all we here is its cheaper, well we oldskoolerz put value on music and the artists got paid, all the new skoolerz dont understand this ,evrything is 1click away,,,,free music free downloads free this free that, ,thats why free= zero ,only few years from 2011, it will come to a end, because of this free mentality, ,,every1 2day thinks there a dj cause they have a laptop with a dj programme,,,its all basic shit,, Funiest thing i hear guys 2day say i pay for my music 50cent to a dollar

  • @DJNEDROY police are cracking down on it, they check the laptops of DJs making sure that the music is installed and not downloaded

    ________________

My brother uses PCDJ on his laptop, He also uses CD player incase the Laptop crashes, He has a full video disco with up to 7tvs atm, PCDJ makes it that little bit easier to create a collection of music on just a few harddrives, mixing isnt any easier except it gives u the BPM of the track and u can change it accordingly to match others

  • Zup djz of the world,,, DJ NEDROY still holding the Wax only down here in new zealand, since 1981 auckland nz undaground still stronger than ever ,,, all the best to the Last DJ standing,, ,, only 12 only wax djz operating down this side of the world

  • wow ive read lots of comments and people miss the point here . is not what you LIKE! talking about moving up or get squash. vinyls will be here just for nostalgy reasons. cause thsi is or was the foundation of dj'ing BACK THEN! vinyl was the shit! NOT NO MORE. you can't live in the pass and expect with new technology, i love my muscle cars i grew up with them but are they still running around? NO. so i got a ford focus 4 cyl. im not happy but what can i do.. embrace the technology.

  • the future of music and dj is what ever is cheaper, lighter, and easier to use. is not what lots of folks like to hear. but is facts. computers and technology would would change for ever the way we play music. back in the days to make a nice mix with vinyl it required good skills. today's technology dances circles around vinyl, sorry to say, but true. 3 years ago i had about 30 vinyl stores in my area. now there are gone. blame it on serato if you will.

  • Back to the best time when dj's dig'the best rare VINYL and play it on party. When dj has REAL skills to make a fantastic mix with 2 decks, mixer and headphones, no other shit. Work of dj is not for everyone. You must have talent and love to the best music. VINYL 4EVER!

  • I'm an anal DJ born in the 60's so my HOPE is for the vinyls, and what i've seen so far, and now we're in the 2011 is that vinyl is getting bigger an bigger...BUT PLEASE, LEAVE THE PRICES ON THE TURNTABLES AS THEY ARE!!! ;o)

  • i'l love to see like blue ray cdj things or soming like that that will be so cool but still keep vinyl

  • I wanted to apologize quiederti as I can connect the CDJ 800 to pc? I have to buy something else thanks a lot

  • PC DJ controlled by a device like for example a CDJ. Vinyl is cool, but quite dead now..

  • vinyl all the wayyyyyyyy

  • Vinyl is more powerfull and clearer. Cd more compact and more. PC is very usefull lol.. I think the PC and blank CD is the Future. You mixed and edit the type of songs you like in your PC and copy it in your blank CD. And just play it anywhere you like without any DJ and It will be non stop mix songs you'd created.

  • your cool

  • a combination of em all seems like a good plan.

  • i like your tutorials

  • i got my numark cdmix 2 about 4 years ago(pritty yousles)cant scratch .i got this thinking all a dj does is speed up songs and makes them sqeeky well stupid me.im looking at getting vinal decks and hook up my laptop .im really shit with all the cables and dont know how to hook vinal to laptop .but i think vinal will last for much longer.and im also wondering if you can hook behringer tweakalizer dfx69 to my cd mix2.and youse it on track A and track B.please post so i can learn more.

  • ive been in to music for my whole life now, and a dj for about 6 or 7 years. and i believe that vinyl will still be used for the years to come, (it wont be the most popular, but theyll be used) i personally dont like using virtual dj off my laptop because im used to cdj, you can even plug your mp3 or usb in the cdj now and the realm of possibilities is endless, virtual dj is just a little awkward working with for me. keep the videos coming!

  • vinyl kills the mp3 industry

  • @MrWimz i hope it does!

  • wake up guys ... the future is called SERATO !!! and of course you use this with vinyl timecodes ...

  • ONLY VINYL LETS YOU TOUCH THE MUSIC

  • I believe Virtual Dj will be the future, because you can store racks and racks worth of vinyl records and CD's right on to an external hard drive, limiting the extra baggage. You also can use digital turntables with virtual dj and it has tons more effects you can use. The big plus for me using virtual dj is that it allows you to mix music videos(if you are using a projector) which guests love. I just think a dj can be more creative with virtual dj and it a lot easier to learn.

  • vinyl all the way.....get turntables an forget about pc.....

  • Hmm , well I think that In the distant future the Vinyl and PC will remain and the CDJ will die out.

PC is obviously going to prosper due to technology and new controllers and gismos coming out every month.

But I think vinyl will live and bring STYLE to the dj'ing performance. Virtual vinyl is just the beginning

  • Vinyl all day!

  • My final note after all my spam hehe. I hope and think the CDJ look at least can be here to stay with some varieties. I would like to be able to say the same about vinyl because i absolutely love vinyl, but unfortunately i cant with the current status with only being able to do this (and get a vinyl feel over the mixing) with other techs then control vinyl. Cheers, i must say i love your vids, you have guided me to be on my way to be able to mix and much other stuff. regards old scratch-o-holic

  • are freakin expencive and for clubs they are ultra nice to have, to satisfy both cdj users and software users and without the hazzle of trying to change setups while the crowd is moving.

Damn. This post became longer than i expected.

My wish for the future, is cheaper models of the 2ks (also goes for cdj 900)

But i think midi and the use of computer technology is here to stay. Eg. Pioneer could not have made those players without implementing midi, pc tech(network and components and firmware)

  • all of the items also has an onboard soundcard so you can (as i said earlier) use in hid mode for use with serato/traktor etc without control disks and all the keys will automaticly map (hot cues, loop functions etc)

So when i have a friend over that uses eg traktor witch i dont use yet, he can just hook my players up while im playing and just activate hid on one at a time so we dont have to stop the music.

I hope these kind of solutions will come more and more and become cheaper because they

  • even if one uses a software based solution.

In this i also forgot the mixer, that has midi mapping capabilities and they combine some of theyre mixers in one piece of equipment. (the possability to eg. have two tracks going and then want to do something more, you can eg take a empty channel on the mixer, use noise to create sound on that channel and use the knobs to ajust it to your liking and then use echo and cutting with fader on top of that is quite awsome)

  • one likes to use that as a "browser", you can stream from USB on either players to the other or same player, the same with usb. And i havent started on the format support on the players dvd-rom.

So i think these solutions give the most to most. And i feel my setup is mabe more computer based with a cdj layout (because its logic nice looking and good to work with) But what ever wins, i think the important thing (for real djs) is a feel of working with the music on a hardware level.

  • internet. (not a good way i think for me atleast) or i could travel vast distances and stay for a couple of days with savings and buy a whole lot at a time. But im passionate about DJ`ing aswell as listening to music, so i would rather be able to do this quickly or close by so i can go home and play/listen/mix this music asap.

The reason i mention the 2k`s is that they offer so many solutions. HID mode without need of control cd's, streaming from a computer by network, loading from computer if

  • I for one, live in a small city in norway, and a record shop that sells vinyl arent to be found within miles (sadly because i love my 1210s and playing vinyl) To begin with i only scratched (i had only a mixer and a turntable and just made beats or played beats from the computer) and then ordered some vinyl that i knew were good at the internet. (mostly scratch tool vinyls)

So for me to either play CDs or MP3s is a must if im not going to just buy from a small preview on the "to be continued"

  • I personally would like to see more (and mabe) cheaper solutions like the djm-2k+cdj-2k

I have bought that set and is totally astonished. I dont know any other solution to making vinyl stay alive (for a big percentage of djs, not just a small group of enthusiasts) then control vinyl solutions. Offc, there might be other.

I think the integration of computer based solutions is inevitable, and thats because of the formats music come in. Out of characters, to be continued

  • well it the death of vinyl but i love it every beginner started with but digital age is here

like timecode i like it because you don't have to carry all those records crates and i like the old technics now they have cd turntables some are good and some are crap

i learn to do timecode for cheap that a good thing if i had to pick what's going to take over i think the computer age is going to take over but i love my vinyl it better feel

  • End of the day nothing is better than the feel of the grooves under your fingers when handling a vinyl record if it was up to me it would have vinyl turntables

  • I want to see a cdj connected to a pc
