I still have songs from YFM that I listen to on repeat every now and again because the music is definitely not bad, but when you begin listening to Deja Entendu, God and Devil, and now this album, the music is clearly carrying more... substance with it. It's something you'd have to respect about Brand New's ability to evolve even if the songs aren't particularly your taste; not every band can make that claim.
It reminds me of Modest Mouse primarily because of the harmonics, note bends, and the extensive layering of melodies during the verses. There's also some hints of older Cursive too. It's refreshing to see a band mature like they have over the past eight years. Incredible stuff.

You know, the first thing I thought of when I hear this was actually Alice in Chains, with the harmonies, not Modest Mouse. And a little bit of Axl Rose in there in the backing vocals, like 2:40... haha, just a smidge. Maybe just me. Good sound!
Jesse does have a weird accent on this track. It gave me pause when I first heard it. I think it's incredible the kind of growth we've seen in this band with each album. They have really grown. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

the song is very much a grower. the more you listen the more you like it. i saw Brand New live this year and they played two songs of their new album, Gasoline and Bride and they were both AMAZING!!!! They were quite differant to this song though. BRAND NEW are AMAZING x
